Yes, since it is a violation of federal immigration law. Why pass laws which are not intended to be enforced?

Fake news! The number is more like 30 million once you add the anchor babies. But even without the anchor babies, 12 million is a low number.

Well trump claims he knows where they are, if he isablee to discount them when redrawing district lines, so explain why he hasn't picked them up, could it be that trump is full of Chit?

Good Lord, yes. It's made my goods and services cheaper. And with wages stagnant for the middle class for a generation, its been a godsend.

To be honest, its an issue I never thought much about until Trump came along.

Under our current system, how long do you suppose that it would take to hold (well over) 12M (immigration law violation) deportation hearings?

Keep in mind that each illegal immigrant would have to be detected, arrested, detained and forced to attend such a hearing. Don't you find it odd that we have about 10X as many federal airport security nannies as ICE ERO agents?

I'd like a LINK to that factoid, please. Last I heard, it was more like 8 million--a lot of people went back home due to tougher enforcement and border patrols. Now with the economy like it is? 12 million sounds kind of steep to me.

Well hey as long as we can blame dem foreigners as Twump told us to, we dont have to recognize the companies that exploit them due to their status because its never a CEO’s fault!

Not really. I live in NY. I don't pay much attention to it, albeit I have noticed the influx of immigrants in certain areas. Whether they are illegal or not, I don't know.

Is it possible to care, but not think that we should deport all 12+ million of them?

Which is why it's such a bad idea to build a 2000 mile wall - they won't be able to get out!

Oh, so rounding up illegals is hard....but in the meantime I will yell about how the other guys want them here.
You catching on yet Friend?

There are a hell of a lot mire than that! There are that many in California alone. That is why they don’t want them to identify themselves in the census. People would **** if they knew the real total.

Honest estimates are around 20-30 million.

Their illegal status really unite the business and racist segments of the right. Business wants then illegal because it enables them to keep wages low and and lousy working conditions and racists worry that the nation will run out of white people. They have different goals for them, obviously, but they both support their status.

12 million by highest estimates for 2019. Not totally sure how often the number is updated. Illegal Immigration Statistics - FactCheck.org

Im more concerned with companies skirting minimum wage laws.

Indeed, and many would get out when the economy goes bad. In the ten years before Trump was elected, more were leaving across that border than were coming in.

And now? Most people who are now coming here illegally aren't crossing the border. They are overstaying their visas, and most aren't coming from Latin America.

Man, there are a lot of really foolish people in this country.

Rounding them up would be far less necessary if the use of illegal immigrant labor was no longer tax deductible for "job creators" - implement eVerify (and change the FIT code accordingly) and most would self-deport.

Meanwhile we should all wash our own cars, mow our own lawns, clean our own homes, babysit our own kids, and avoid businesses clearly benefiting from and hiring illegal aliens.

Don't give them a reason to stay here, invite them to leave ASAP.

But why? We like those services they offer.

That is not likely to happen, but that (bolded above) is a small percentage of illegal labor. Most have no idea how much illegal immigrant labor went into producing groceries (or restaurant prepared food), assembled products or buildings (or improvements and repairs to them).

I agree---far too much. But avoiding every little bit helps. If 3 million self deport it would be a huge load off of the American taxpayers.

that's why you suspend deportation hearings, and have them deported as quickly as possible. Once the number is 0, we can hold hearings for illegal immigrants that are found here afterwords, but until then, we can't afford to be loose. I think the government should be as brutal as possible to crack down illegal migrants and the communities that harbor them

There are also secondary options that the government can take, such as making life so miserable for illegals here, that they choose to leave on their own.

Slaughter our own poultry, replace our own roofs, make our own hotel beds...

I really get the impression that the corporate world is not crazy about this idea, or else we would have it and use it effectively now. The price of goods and services would go up. Legal workers are always a union threat. They don't like that. Consumers don't like it either, but their wages should go up too.

Yep, wages would go up and some 'favorable' demographic changes would slow down - thus no push for eVerify is likely.
