I'd like to see if Democrats now start shying away from mail-in voting now that Trump, apparently, is behind it. ;) Interesting political move.

its the move of a desperate man. Apparently in Florida and Arizona its okay because so many republicans vote by mail in those states and they have republican governors. Coincidentally he as also said that he'll foot the entire national guard bill for coronavirus deployments but only 75% for other states.

Its not an interesting political move, its a blatant save my friggin' bacon move. But you'll find that pony any day now.

Please , not the old distraction trick, the Right Wingers aren't using that anymore it stop working right after Trump madethis statement "if elected I will turn over my tax returns", oh look the media saying fake news.

You as well as I know that not every American is going to cast every ballot on the 1st Tuesday in November some will either be early or late. that is fact.

As far as Democrats or others voting early when Trump voted in Florida by mail in vote was that early or late or exactly the same day????
After that you can answer for his administration and both the House and Senate remember as you say, votes must be cast the first Tuesday in November exactly..
I hardly think that the Federal Law established the 1st Tuesday in November as Election day did not leave some room for voting early for Military personal overseas using the mail in vote. or politicians working in D.C to use mail in voting as well as early voting..:peace
Left wingers need to stop pretending they don’t know the difference between absentee mail-in voting and universal mail-in voting.

People not physically present in the state in which they’re registered have no other option.

And this Trump votes by mail excuse is getting extremely old. Showing up to a polling location in person would put the nation’s security at risk.

Left Winger please? Independent voter remember., oh I forgot another right winger trait short term memory loss.

Tell me once and for all answer two questions ;
1. How is Absentee votes delivered?
2. How is Mail-in Votes delivered?
and just for reference; How was Trump's vote to Florida delivered ?

Think real hard now don't hurt yourself.

So showing up at a polling location would put the national Security at risk, but going Golfing in the same state is no problem???:peace

There is more truth to that cartoon than there is anything else.

I keep suggesting those folks calling for universal mail in balloting need to just officially call it "Universal Absentee Balloting" and that would take the wind out of the ersatz president's sails on his inane and insane notions that there is any real difference between mailing in an absentee ballot as opposed to mailing in a universal mail in ballot.

Or he'd just find another way to rebrand it: the whole point is that it's supposed to be 'good' when Republican districts do it and 'bad' for anyone else. They'll just call it 'remote voting' or 'long-distance' or some other label. Maybe they'll go with 'dark ballots' or 'deep state mail' just for kicks. But the perception is the point because the facts sure don't support the president's position.

It was not some slick political move by Trump. It was just another stupid and transparent attempt by him to try and rescue, failingly, some sensibility out of his purely insensible ramblings about voting by mail.

This is very well said. It's possible he's gone overboard with his rallying against votes by mail and he's worried his constituents in florida will be dissuaded by his own propaganda, so he has to remind them it's okay if they do it. We may well see more 'exemptions' for other loyal states in weeks to come.

Lol polling locations are just a bit more crowded than golf courses.

You know the answers to the rest of your post. We'll see how this unfolds.

You understand that the President has arguably the best-trained security detail in the world, and they are quite capable of securing the basement of the rec center in Palm Beach for 15 minutes.

To demonstrate the absolute lunacy of your claim that the President voting in person threatens national security.

It's much easier to secure the polling place than it is to secure a golf course.

This is irrelevant to the topic, though. Who cares?

It’s a deflection your party is trying to use as a one liner.

If it is irrelevant to the topic, why have you repeated that falsehood it so many times as an excuse of Trump's hypocrisy?
Because there’s no hypocrisy.

Trump PERCEIVES that it is unsafe to show up to a polling location in person. In terms of our national security.

This isn’t a big deal.

He does?

I'm pretty sure you're the only one who perceives that lunacy.

And yes - it's still hypocritical if you think Trump's belief that he is at risk by voting is somehow more valid than anyone else's belief that they are at risk.

Doctor, there's no point to all this.

You're defending your own party's deflective oneliner.

Trump is opposed to universal mail-in voting. Not absentee mail-in voting, not military mail-in voting, and not mail-in voting by politicians who feel their security is at risk.

Yes, exactly.

He is in favor of personally being able to vote by mail - and in favor of his supporters being able to vote by mail.

He is opposed to anyone else being able to vote by mail.

Hence the hypocrisy.

No doubt.

What do you think Donny Dip Stick will do when someone in his administration or the next Chris Wallace or Jonathan Swan informs him that the State of Florida doesn't actually have "absentee voting"?

Or that the State of Florida uses vote by mail ballot drop boxes throughout the state for folks to drop off their vote by mail ballots?

The real stupidity on display by Trump and his administration is only exceeded by their criminality and their lying and fabricating and obfuscating of facts.

Too freaking funny.

Ah well, the Trump Stupid's won't turn on him, DoDo's of a feather and all that!

Try again.

YOU are the ones trying to change the system, not us.

Take responsiblity for trying to changing the system.

So tell us exactly how will I 'take responsibility' for this? By voting perhaps? Or should I go out and buy a dumb red hat?

It's the same system, just 'more' or 'less' of it. There's no real 'change'. I have demonstrated dozens of times that already a third of the electorate votes by mail. If a third can do it, then half or two-thirds or nine-tenths can. Some states do it all by mail. The 'change' happened years ago and has worked just as well for Republicans when they were on top.

Maybe the problem is that third who always vote by mail have largely been Republicans. And since Republicans only have a third of the voters, maybe they're worried about everyone else getting the same opportunity...

Trump of course would be just as happy if nobody voted at all.

There are valid arguments for universal mail-in voting, and valid arguments against. But the people proposing to change the system we've had in place for over 200 years need to expect that their ideas will be challenged.

Most importantly, I can almost guarantee that if we have universal mail-in voting, and there are widespread reports of fraudulent activity, whoever wins the election will have a hell of a hard time governing, at best. And at worst, we will have an electorate on the brink of civil war.

What is the argument against simply keeping polling locations open for two weeks, so that they are not crowded?
