Yes, I spent a lot of time in Boston. First of all, I would bet those suburban kids in Quincy and Weymouth and Braintree don't know any black people. I bet they have never even met a black person. I bet they would start touching a black person's hair if they ever met one.
To me, the North is New England and New York. Liberal blue states that want nothing to do with black people.
If a northerner said the same about the south he'd be labeled a bigot or racist. Just when were you in Boston that you saw such segregation? :doh Boston proper certainly has a healthy black population.
The US Census states that blacks make up 17.4% of New York's population. That's almost a fifth of the state!

I think perhaps you were clocked in the head a little too hard by Katrina. To say New York wants nothing to do with blacks is well, "uninformed" at best. Damn man, we have a black Governor.
