The same could be said of the people of Iran or DPRK - the problem is with leadership which stands between us and them.

A little less arrogance and a little more compassion on our part would probably go a long way towards easing both of those situations. People are not that complicated.

The people that live in Crimea wanted to secede but Ukraine would not let them. The people got what they wanted. That situation doesn't bother me. Also Ukraine is not the United States. We're not the police.

More ignorance with your statements, no matter how you cut this you will not be able to diminish that Russia is a nation we have to be concerned about and their intentions are rooted in Cold War like mentality.

Russia will continue like always being a thorn in our side with all these stupid little wars we can't seem to stay out of.

They are a nuclear power but mutual assured distruction kind of negates that one.

Other than that Russia is no real threat to America.

Sure would be nice to have another Gorbachev in power there

Could you underline what I said that isn't true?

I doubt destruction is even mutually assured anymore. We would very likely come out on top in a nuclear exchange. Our military is so much more powerful and complex than theirs it's actually kind of comical.

Nothing you have said in this thread so far is true, underline it all.

It's not true that Russia's GDP is tiny compared to our own? It's not true that Crimea wanted to secede but couldn't? It's not true that Crimeans were and still are happy with the annexation because they identify as Russians? State it clearly so it's more embarrassing when I prove you wrong.

You are still missing the point, Russia would not have been able to pull that off unless they are a problem for us to be aware of.

Your asinine notion that they are no threat at all is pure ignorance at its best.

Reasonable people will continue to talk about the challenges Russia is for most things west while you stick your head in the sand.

Keep in mind that a handful of years ago their yearly GDP was smaller than the city of Tokyo.

I'd say that with the US president being a puppet of a former KGB agent cum Russian Czar, "Houston, we have a problem."

They are a very small fish at the very worst. They're not stupid enough to get serious about ****ing with us. There is a disproportionate amount of fear of Russia when it comes to Americans.

Trump has been in office for 4 years. How much success has Russia had in overthrowing our way of life? How soon can we expect to see their flag flown over the White House?

Holy ****! You people have NO CLUE what kind of a threat Russia is -- not only to every democracy in the world -- but to the entire European Union and all of Europe! You guys need to catch up on US- Russia history. Start with World War II and work your way up from there. You are babes in the woods and those types always get eaten by wolves.

To give you just one tiny example of the kind of threat Russia is, they succeeded in dividing the United States.

And Trump is getting eaten by those very wolves. Really bad news for America.

Yes, if we had a strong American president. But we don't. We'll have to wait a few months.

What will the powerful Biden do to deescalate conflict with Russia? Also how has Trump increased it or made it worse?

Somewhat of a threat.

Russia is like the fly in your house that establishes a holding pattern above your head or uses your arm as a landing strip. Russia just pulls **** like the PsyOps games and trying to sabotage things.

China is the new big threat. Hacking, cyber/HUMINT espionage, making threats and trying to start conflicts.

And now you are making **** up, predictable.

Every single time something has come up with Russia, Trump has turned a blind eye. There is something going on there that we likely won't find out till long after Trump is gone.

As far as Biden goes, some solid policy toward Russia instead of cow-towing to Putin every time would be a good start. Trump has made us the laughing stock throughout the world. It's time for a change.

You think more aggressive policy towards Russia will ease hostilities?

There is no on top in a nuclear exchange

Putin is a global bully and murderer. It was his GRU that tried to murder Sergei Skripa and his daughter Yulia Skripal with a Novichok nerve agent in England in 2018. It was Putin's own intelligence agents in the GRU that hacked the DNC and why fifteen of them are under U.S. indictment for that crime. It was Russia that imprisoned, tortured and murdered lawyer Sergei Magnisky and the reason that the U.S. put sanctions on Russia with the Magnitsky Act. That's the reason Putin wanted Trump to be president so he could get those sanctions off Russia because they were disastrous for their economy. It was Russian agents under Putin's order that murdered Boris Nemtsov with four shots to the back in broad daylight on a bridge overlooking the Kremlin. Nemtsov was critical of Putin and his increasing authoritarianism.

As a former KGB officer, that's how Putin rolls. If a person says or writes or whispers anything that's dissenting or holds an opinion different from Putin, they die. Yes, the US does have an acrimonious relationship with any government that rules as an authoritarian government.

If you want enlightenment as to why we should always be suspicious and vigilante as to what Russia's objectives are throughout Eastern Europe, just let me know and I can provide volumes of information as to what his eyesight is set on next. He's not stopping with Crimea, he's not stopping with Ukraine. Putin wants to resurrect the great dream of Stalin, a dream to resurrect a new Russian Empire.

Russia has a smaller GDP than Brazil.

Meaning that if Russian and Brazil fought a war, Brazil would be likely to win.

But Russia is good at annoying other countries. That's how Putin makes the Russian people proud, he annoys other countries.

History? what good is history? Its all about now baby and 'Murca is the biggest baddest mofo on the planet and russia is a midget. Now if only that midget didn't have the president on his knees making sucking sounds, life would be patriotically purrrrfect.

Russia may be a thorn, but China is obviously and far and away the greater threat by at least an order of magnitude, is the only serious challenger at the moment to Pax Americana and should be treated and regarded as such.

Are we throwing stones in glass houses by criticizing Russia's foreign policy too much? Of course they want sanctions that hurt their economy eased. You're not hurting Putin with that; you're just hurting everyday Russians.
