If Trump stepped down later today and Mike Pence became President, would you vote for Mike Pence or Joe Biden in November? Would it change how you vote or would your vote be the same? Do you think having Pence run instead of Trump this would be better or worse for the Republican Party, or for the country?

I'm not saying this would happen, as no-one can really predict what Trump is going to do. But I'm still curious to see if it could really swing the result. Some Republicans would obviously be very angry they can't vote for Trump, whilst Moderates might reconsider voting Republican if they were running Pence instead of Trump.

More likely that Biden would withdraw from the race or be unable to continue.
Biden is in a steep mental decline. There is no way he could function as the
president of the United States.

Actually, While I voted fro Trump, and will likely do so again, it will not be a easy task.
I think someone like Pence would be a breath of fresh air.
Peoples hatred of Trump, is limiting how effective he can be.

So is there any democrat who could run instead of Biden that would make you more likely to vote for them?

If the choice is Pence or Biden....definitely Pence as Biden is so eaten up with dementia he is not competent to run a two hole outhouse much less a country.

All that will change if Pence is president is the first letter in TDS

Somebody suggested John Bolton earlier and I think that's a fine choice.

Pence is okay too.

I have no reason to vote for Pence.

But it is worth being honest a moment about Pence, at least with him you are getting someone who believes the various ideologies that make up "conservatism" today instead of Trump who is pretending to the point of damn near marching the party off of a cliff.

It is one of the reasons I questioned so much support for Trump given all the nonsense that comes with his brand of presidency and controversy, at least if he stepped down you would end up with a somewhat honest conservative. As much as I disagree with Pence he is a social and religious conservative who believes in using government authority to marginalize liberalism, he does subscribe to American exceptionalism and a pro-Israel stance that would make him happy to start more Middle East wars, very old school nationalism to the point of 1950's white male dominant thinking, and also is pro big business over any sense of workers rights.

I wish someone would convince Condoleezza Rice to run, but I do not think that will happen.

It must suck that Trump commanded you to push that hilariously ironic narrative.

Here's mental decline:

DAWSEY: You said yesterday when you were leaving that you were skeptical of a climate change report that the government had done. Can you just explain why you’re skeptical of that report?

TRUMP: One of the problems that a lot of people like myself — we have very high levels of intelligence, but we’re not necessarily such believers. You look at our air and our water, and it’s right now at a record clean. But when you look at China and you look at parts of Asia and when you look at South America, and when you look at many other places in this world, including Russia, including — just many other places — the air is incredibly dirty. And when you’re talking about an atmosphere, oceans are very small. And it blows over and it sails over. I mean, we take thousands of tons of garbage off our beaches all the time that comes over from Asia. It just flows right down the Pacific, it flows, and we say where does this come from. And it takes many people to start off with.

DAWSEY: So you’re saying you don’t see the —

TRUMP: Josh, you go to other places where they have denser trees — it’s more dense, where the trees are more flammable — they don’t have forest fires like this, because they maintain. And it was very interesting, I was watching the firemen, and they’re raking brush — you know the tumbleweed and brush, and all this stuff that’s growing underneath. It’s on fire, and they’re raking it, working so hard, and they’re raking all this stuff. If that was raked in the beginning, there’d be nothing to catch on fire. It’s very interesting to see. A lot of the trees, they took tremendous burn at the bottom, but they didn’t catch on fire. The bottom is all burned but they didn’t catch on fire because they sucked the water, they’re wet. You need forest management, and they don’t have it.

Having to vote against a Black Woman because she is a republican would totally screw up the identity politics crowd and the Democrats. That would be a really interesting election to watch and very refreshing even if I disagreed with her views.

I think I am beginning to become pro choice, I wish we have better politicians to choose from!!

Are you a doctor? Are you Joe Biden's doctor? If not, what right do you have to make a definitive statement like that when you don't know the man? Biden may be declining, that remains to be seen.

Trump is more unfit for office than my 13 year old dog.

And Trump is less qualified. So I'll stick with Biden for sure.

I think most of the Dem leadership understands that, and they want a VP that they can control. The one really competent-though boring female they had (The dems have to pick a female based on Biden's comments) was Klobuchar. The rest have massive baggage of several types

With posters such as you-less qualified often is a euphemism for someone having an agenda that you don't like.

that is because you are a far left-winger and you hate a prosperous America where the wealthy are doing well, and employment is almost full.

Just keep telling each other that!

By my count, every time trump goes off script he forgets what he was trying to say.

You just don't see it because he knows all the words and pharases that get you all emotionally riled up and he just spits those until you forget to notice.

He is not the man he used to be either.

Save the standard responses.

I am a cautious "ageist" when it comes to leaders in general and presidents in particular. Especially men. Because the potential for rapid decline gets higher as folks get older, and it looks to me that the ED and time spent trying to pee results in a certain amount of revenge being inflicted on the younger population.

Mike Dense? No thanks.
