This is the reason the original prosecutor only charged 3rd degree murder, and manslaughter,
he felt that he could prove the elements of those beyond a reasonable doubt.
1st degree murder, would be a much higher bar to reach.
If Chauvin were convicted of both, he could get 40 years, before the Feds try him on civil rights violations.
I understand they bumped it up to 2nd today.
