Oh no! They fact checked Trump! The humanity! I suppose if one doesn't want to be fact checked, one should tell the truth, yes? I mean, this whole thing is people making excuses for Trump lying.

They should, indeed, fact check other politicians. I hope they do. But this whole "Trump told a lie and Twitter pointed it out, but they shouldn't have because other people lie" argument is pretty lame.

Biden said that he wants to remove it too... Biden wants to get rid of tech'''s legal shield Section 230

Biden ain't much better than Trump. A little better, less embarrassing, but we're not making leaps and bounds on the ladder of "acceptable".

You started an epileptic fit there so I was trying to balance things out. It is not about Trump.

It is about the transparency of these social companies policies.

Maybe. I just have no sympathy for the "Trump got caught in a lie and it's so unfair" argument many are trying to put out there.

Agreed. I think that social media platforms need to be like the post office... deliver the content and stay out of the rest.

Well the Post Office is government, the social media platforms are private. So they get a bit more leeway. But there's always Facebook.

lol

I just meant that both deliver what an outside party say to other people. A conduit of information... not a fact or content checker.

Like DP. The mods enforce rules as mods... they don't check our messages for facts, etc. as mods... that is as a poster.

Well I suppose information and disinformation if you ain't gonna police it.

And the mods here couldn't be responsible for fact checking people's posts. Some of the posters here would require round the clock attention. lol I got a job, man, I got a family, I need to sleep.

His target isn't twitter. The more important question is "Will congress sit still for censorship of antigovernment speech in any form?"

I express opinions here and on other social media all the time. I personally would not have any problem with the owner of the platform fact-checking me. Heck, I might even learn something.

I realize it is a problem for Trump. I completely understand why he is so upset that someone would dare challenge him on anything he says. No one ever has. Well, not exactly. On rare occasions, a foolish reporter will make an unforgivable mistake of challenging Trump. That's when he typically storms out of the room.

They've already informed Trump that he can't shut down TV stations that say mean things about him. He can't burn the NY Times or Washington Post to the ground. Social media are his last hope. If he can't get them to kowtow, what's the point of being president?

Lepke said "They'll never get me." He wasn't speaking of police, but media hounds. Not once, after his arrest, during his trial, while he was waiting for execution sitting in Sing Sing's death row, did Louis "Lepke" Buchwalter speak with the many media hounds begging to interview the first "Don" of Murder, Inc. His successor Albert "The Mad Hatter" Anastasia, along with Al "Scarface" Capone, the first two Don's to seek media attention died ignominiously. Albert with a cigar in his mouth, lying shot on a barber shop floor, Capone of paresis, advanced syphilis, muttering to himself on a Florida beach, suffering from dementia.

Don's never learn.

I'd vote no simply because it's stupid. But then all your choices are loaded with extra nonsense (note, the President rarely speaks the truth - he's a politician after all).
