I can only speak for myself. During the 2016 Republican primary I wanted Trump to be nominated by the Republicans. The reason was not because I though it would be easy for the Democrat candidate to defeat him. The reason was that he seemed to be a different kind of Republican, one who cared about those left behind by economic changes. He was once described as "a third party candidate running as a Republican." Then as soon as he was inaugurated he cut taxes for the rich.

In other words, Trump was following the Reagan playbook. Like Reagan he appealed to nostalgia for the 1950's, when the top tax rate was usually 91%, and when one third of the work force belonged to labor unions. Then he tried to restore as much as he could of the economic status quo of the 1920's, when the top tax rate declined to 25%, and labor unions were weak.

It was only after Trump became president that I learned how dishonest, vulgar, inarticulate, lacking in gravitas, and unpresidential Trump is. I think he is intellectually, psychologically, and morally unsuited for his position.

Don't you get it that a reasonable corporate tax rate means companies can expand and create jobs?

And Trump cut taxes for all so y the focus on one group? Oh yeh... politics

Rich people do not hire people when they have more money. They hire people when they have more customers, even if they have to borrow money to do it. They have more customers when Democrat governments raise their taxes and spread the money around. That is why Democrats have better records on job creation.

That's a false assumption.

Trump is hated because he can't even try to talk people off a ledge. Instead, he eggs them on to jump. Last night he turned off the lights and hid in the bunker. That is why he is hated.

That and the one option the OP missed. He's hated because he's a c***.

I had to laugh at the image of him being so inconvenienced he was sent huffing to the bunker while the Secret Service probably pissed themselves with laughter.

I would add he is not a decent, honorable man.

Businesses have more customers when said customers have more $$$ to spend bc the government hasn't taken damn near all of it

TDS. Mostly because he doesn't have a D next to his name.

That's a cop out. TDS is a made up word to explain away dislike of a horrible person as some unreasonable fault.

The dude acts like a bastard to everyone. Of course people will dislike him for it.

There are a few reasons why I dislike him (as a person and president) and won't vote for him:

1. I strongly disagree with many of his policies.
2. I think he's one of the most blatantly dishonest people in American politics, and that's saying something.
3. As the leader of the most powerful country in the world, you have almost unlimited access to one of the planet's greatest resources, the world's leading professionals, scientists, experts, etc. Instead of listening to their advice, he has a habit of listening to only his own council, and that of the incredibly unqualified people he's surrounded himself with.
4. He politicizes everything. I'm sick of his me vs. everyone else attitude and his willingness to attack anyone and everyone. I know people are constantly attacking you and saying nasty things, but you're the president of the United States, making controversial decisions that's affecting hundreds of millions of lives. Of course many people are going to react strongly to your opinions and decisions. Stop lashing out and taking things so personally, and grow some thicker skin.
5. Dignity and respectability are important things for the president to have, both nationally and abroad. He's one of the world's most undignified and disrespected world leaders, and has done a ton of damage to our country's image and world standing.

There are other reasons, but those are the big ones I can think of right now.

Not to the unborn

I like some of his policies. Not all.

Do I personally like him? I've never met him, so no,

You don't need to know him personally to have a pretty clear idea of what sort of person he is.

I just wonder why so many Trump supporters seem to think they know the thought processes of people who find the man appalling. They do not have a clue.

Maybe it is a guy thing but when my boyfriend tells me what I think, rather than letting me tell him what I think, it is usually because he is itching for a fight!

What's main reason Trump is So hated

Why is Trump hated? Here's a good summary of why the British hate him:

A few things spring to mind. Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem. For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honor and no grace – all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed.

Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty or even faintly amusing – not once, ever.

Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers. And scarily, he doesn’t just talk in crude, witless insults – he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness.

And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully. That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead.

I respectfully disagree. Everyone has a personal and a public persona. You don't really know a person standing on a stage doing an act, which is mostly what politicians do.

In any case, I don't need to like the president or even want to think of him as a friend. No politician is my friend. I have plenty of real flesh-and-blood friends with whom I enjoy positive personal relationships.

TDS explains your post well enough. Occam's razor says that the simplest explanation is usually best.

Your post gives a lot of insight as to your thinking, so you cannot say others do not have a clue. You advertise what you think.

Only someone predisposed against Trump thinks he is not funny. He is wry, witty, and excels at lampooning inflated egos. I suppose that if yours was one of the inflated egos, it might seem otherwise.

Another is that he is the little guy standing up to the bully, sneering at the threats and throwing the insults back. This bully, the media complex, has broken many politicians but not Trump, which is where this thread comes in.

Trump is hated because he's still standing.

It sounds to me as if you are discussing Jim Acosta of CNN.

It could describe a number of people who are as it turns out, sociopathic d!cks. You may even work or go to school with one. But they're not really 'normal' and I wouldn't want one running the country.

TDS is just the logical fallacy of attacking the poster. Ad hominem, nothing more.

Since we're dabbling in fantasy theories here, maybe the real TDS is Trump Delusion Syndrome: stubborn hero worship as above.

It's the utter inability to see what a failure the president is and the persistent belief, after four years of lies, corruption and sheer incompetence that Trump is the man he so lazily pretends to be.

There is no man behind the curtain. That flailing buffoon on the stage, that's all there is to him.
