Was having a really bad day and then I came across your post. Thanks for the laugh!

LMAO - this thread reminds me of when the left was going on and on about the "crisis of Democracy" if Trump failed to concede the election to Hillary Clinton - they droned on and on about the "orderly transition of power" - until of course Queen Hillary lost and refused to concede. :lamo

We went through this same thing when it was Obama's turn to leave office. Why would we think it wouldn't pop up again this time?

You know...I didn't remember any big concern that Obama wouldn't leave when his term ended, so I did a search on duckduckgo for "what if Obama refuses to leave the white house". Here's what I found...

About Obama...

Straight Dope Message Board - What would happen if Obama refused to leave the White House?

What if Barack Obama just refuses to leave White House? Who can evict him? : NoStupidQuestions

So...five links...one from a parody site, three from forums and one from snopes to put an end to the notion.

I stopped with the Trump related links when I reached that Snopes link.

You know, Ikari, you should probably drop the "Obama whataboutism". As you can see, there's no comparison.

Puuuhhlease. There were plenty of threads going about when Obama was getting ready to leave by some of our more rabid anti-Obama folk claiming he wouldn't leave office or what to do if he refuses. So this is just one in a line of threads that will pop up about whether or not Trump will leave office, we dealt with it when Obama was at the end, we'll deal with it now that Trump is at the end. In the end, Trump will leave and there will be no "crisis". Though he will bitch and moan loudly about it on Twitter. As he usually does.

So there is certainly comparison.

So Trump refuses to leave the White House come January.

What do we do?

This isn't the conspiracy board. You could post of your bizarre fear on the Health board.

Oh...you were just referring to "threads". As in stuff from forums like DP and others. Okay. Sure. Hell, forums are magnets for idiots and their conspiracy theories.

Because the lefty libs supposedly paint themselves as being "smarter" and "more mature" when the truth is they really arent?

The Speaker of the House would have the power and the military and law enforcement agencies are all sworn to defend and uphold the Constitution and the Law. If that did not work the government would have lost its legitimacy and there would be bloodshed. Trump would not be able to leave the WH without bringing in someone's crosshairs and trump does not balls for a fight where he may be killed. Believe it or not Trump's support would dwindle down to a small percentage of far-right wack jobs, even very conservative Americans would be appauled by such a move.
I seriously doubt he would try, he will whine and claim fraud and everyone in the country for failing him, but he will leave, he too much a coward to do more.

I hope you are right, but I believe you are wrong.

We have seen too much in the last four years from how easily manipulated all three branches are, to hold out much hope for even a moderately smooth transition.

Yep. All this posing at state capitols with ARs is a practice run for when the redhats don’t get the result they want in November.

^^ This.

This is what worries me. They’ve already started with the, “Dems are trying to steal the election” narrative. Whip the gun-toters and the rednecks into a lather, and it will get really ugly, really fast.

This question is just as inane now as it was when is was posed about Obama. Besides, it's too early to ask it about Trump now, ask it again in 2004.
..

Then it would be War. Trump would be removed one way or the other, count in it.

What do we do?
He would be arrested for trespassing if he tried to remain physically in the WH.

It depends on how close an election it is. If it's like GW's first run, where Gore contended FL, then he might keep demanding recounts and make the SCOTUS decide.

-- The Supreme Court decision allowed the previous vote certification to stand, as made by Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris, for George W. Bush as the winner of Florida's 25 electoral votes. Florida's votes gave Bush, the Republican candidate, 271 electoral votes, one more than the required 270 to win the Electoral College, and the defeat of Democratic candidate Al Gore, who received 266 electoral votes. --

What in the **** leads you to think he would refuse to leave other than the nonsensical speculative bull**** in that article?

Change the locks while he's golfing.

Arrest him, he would no longer have any legal standing, meaning he would be trying to become Dictator, not gonna happen in the USA.

I think if there's one thing that's been demonstrated consistently in the last three and a half years, it's that "American Exceptionalism" really isn't a thing. Or at least not anymore.

It can happen here.

I have never said otherwise, it is one of several things I Prep for. This Nation is ripe for a hurricane, and seems to be rushing towards it. The US has changed, we are now living in a Nation where a haircut and cocktails are more important than human lives and a snake oil salesmen can claim to be the most powerful leader on the planet. This needs to be rectified, one way or another, the Nation will not survive another four years intact.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm, he would have legal standing if he won the election, wouldn't he?
