Trump threatens reporters

Did Trump threaten reporters?

How did I know that this would turn into a Trump Bashing thread for those afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome.

What do you mean, "How did I know..." You were absolutely counting on it; that was the entire purpose of this thread, lol.

I don't think so, but it still went way too far, no president should make such comments, it is an insult to the office he holds.

Do you think that there was a hidden meaning or agenda behind his statement? There is no way that it is legal so why would he suggest it?

There is a nuanced meaning to this post that I am not entirely sure I am able to figure out...

I think he was making a joke, but the joke was in terribly poor taste and not befitting the office of the president.

I wonder if the reporters can sue Trump? Their stress levels are already probably pretty high with all the Covid stuff going on and Trump not wearing a mask.

Could you be able to tell a joke if you saw one? Aren't you in the crowd that thought he wasn't joking about Russia getting Hilalry's destroyed emails when the FBI told her it was OK to destroy them.

.?.?.?

If it were just about anybody else, I'd think it was a metaphor/Joke. With Trump..No..He'd actually do it and brag about it

Wow! Maybe you are confusing facts with some old Three Stooges, Abbot/Costello, Jerry Lewis, or others in Movies. Why is it that when the President makes a joke, he is held to a standard above the sense of humor by so many? From his joke about Russia revealing H. Clinton's deliberately destroyed E mails, to sending some reporters into space, he is held to a standard by those who leap upon his every word as a bird to a worm. Lighten up folks! Take his tongue in cheek jabs as he intended in some settings as humor, not your ornery discovery of Primal intent!
Regards,
CP

I've noticed that over the years, Donald Trump has never told a joke anywhere. Never on his own show, never on anybody else's show, I've come to the conclusion that he doesn't joke in any form. He simply does not have a sense of humor. He means the things he says.
Could I be wrong? Yep.

And so we see once again how lacking in a sense of humor Dems are..

I myself LOL-ed at the mental image of Trump threatening reporters (conjured up by thread title)

A lot of reporters are just so so annoying

Either this is sarcasm or you have lost...was going to say Your mind, but maybe worse... your soul...

In other words sounds like a bunch of lies you tell yourself

When Trump's political adversaries are committing suicide by repeatedly shooting themselves in the back of the head and other freak ways of committing suicide like with the Clintons, the OP might have a point.

Peter, any chance we get it, but you don't? Are we then depending on the Peter King measure of good and poor taste? If so, please provide some credential that would make that a fact. I don't know you, and don't know that we would both find the same things humorous. I do know of knobs who would rather cluck their tongue than laugh at an obvious joke. They are generally by themselves at the end of a party. Any chance you are one of them?

I'm quite sure I don't want any White House reporters being our first ambassadors to other life in the galaxy. It would probably be considered an insult, even an act of war, to any intelligent life out there.

No. I get it, I just think it is in poor taste. I do a lot of laughing, but it is not just the joke itself but the person who is making the joke and the situation the world/US is in.

I love telling Dutch jokes, love Billy Connolly, Robin Williams, Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Ricky Gervais, Jimmy Carr, Russel Howard, Sarah Pascoe, and many many more. Monty Python, Blazing Saddles is one of the funniest things I ever saw. Most Mel Brooks movies are a hoot and a half. Love watching Mock the week and live at the Apollo.

It was a joke but because Trump hasn’t got a sense of humour it was about as funny as the OP.

Got a cite? Sounds like an attempt at humour- if so, it'd be the first I've seen from Trump.

He has attempted humour many times... but has failed dismally. Like when he mocked a disabled reporter and when he makes up bizarre and unfunny nicknames for people he doesn't like.

Did Trump threaten reporters in his interview when he talked about going to the rocket launch and he said he wanted to put some reporters in the rocket to blast in the space?

Not, he was being a dick because his ongoing conflict with reporters is red meat for his base.

I'm an anti Trumper but there is no way that this was anything other than one of his stupid jokes. There are by far enough things he's said to complain about without going off the rails over this.

As in seriously wishing he could send them to their deaths? A serious threat to their lives?

Oh please.

I cannot believe that some still don't know Trump's humor.

His statement was simply a figure of speech.

I'd like to see the asinine group of Nadler, Pencil Neck, The Squad, and Pelosi blasted into outer space. It might clear their heads (give them some sense).

Isn't the President of the United States threatening to blast people into space in a rocket illegal? It sounds like coercion.

Not a threat. He's incompetent at everything else he tries to do, why not at telling "jokes," too?

Coercion of who or what?

The President of the United States enjoys Freedom of Speech just like every other American.

I do not see possibly how Trump's statement which joked about wishing a few reporters were on the rocket would be illegal.

The statement by Trump is part of an ongoing 3.5-year inside joke between Trump and certain reporters as it is well known that Trump does not like/get along with certain (most) US reporters.

Most certainly, no one's life is in danger (those in the press corps that Trump joked about). That is preposterous.
