Sounds like an awfully convenient alibi to me.

Poor Hitler never had time to cheat... with all that gasoline poured over him and the Ruskies bearing down pillaging Berlin.

Not at all. The animal is a reflection of their owner.

Obviously a person that has never dealt with many cats...

I bet you also think that parents determine how the kid turns out... that the kid is a reflection of the parent?

I'm told he was faithful to his wife. That's why I don't trust anybody who doesn't cheat on their spouse.

They were only married for about 10 minutes.

Do you prefer cats or dogs? And if you do not prefer dogs... what is wrong with you?
Dogs need masters.
Cats require servants.
‘Nuff said.

I have had both cats and dogs as pets, and enjoyed them both. Cats are less maintenance, but scratch you and your house. Dogs are the most affectionate, but require the most maintenance. It depends on the person and their lifestyle.

You can not draw me into your nonsensical, rambling, off-point blathering...

because nothing I said was nonsensical, rambling, off-point blathering.

I was directly addressing your post in a very specific manner.

Were they all feral cats or rescued from abusive homes?

I had three cats until one (Animal shelter) recently had to be put down after 20 years of joy. The other two were born feral and we got them from relatives who found/recused them at a very early age and because they couldn't have pets we ended up with them both. One is a beautiful orange tabby and the other is calico who has attached herself to me since birth. She has to lay beside/on me all the time even in bed. The orange tabby sticks closer to my wife but walks with me on my morning walk thru the neighborhood.

What? Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun marry, only hours before they both committed suicide. Not much time for Hitler to be fooling around on a wife of hours.

Dude. It was a joke.

I really like most animals. We have a couple of cats and a dog. The dog is sweeter and obeys commands. The cats smell nicer, but will scratch the furniture. I love horses too. They definitely obey commands and would be cuddly, but are too big for that.

We have two scratching posts, one at each end of the house, so put together and with all leather furniture we have little furniture scratching. Does your horse kick around the barn furniture?:rock

Dogs are the pets and companions of humans. Humans are the pets and servants of cats. Dogs are playful and want to be part of the family. Cats are snooty and are usually aloof from the family. These of course are generalisations but in the great majority of cases these characterisations hold up. Your cat or dog may vary from this generalisation. But many don't.

Cheers and may your dogs be well and may a pox be on your cats.

Our cats are naughty. They have a scratch post, but prefer one wall in particular. The Siamese is a serial trash raider. The horse doesn't kick at all. :kitty:

I hope you are keeping the orange tabby on a leash the whole time during your walks with him. One step too far will make him roadkill.

What are their names?

Dogs want to have fun... enjoy interaction, bond and play games... while cats, except for the few that like to bond and chill out and interact... prefer to sulk, be mean and attack people that dare to be nice to them.

So a ***** scratched ya? Oh the horror, now you are cat attack survivor

Obviously a person that has never dealt with many cats...

Only 55 years now. I have seen the transformation from scared and fearful animals to loving loyal pet too many times to know you are wrong.

Of course they do. Otherwise we would not need parents.

I choose kids.

When my kids were little they would rush up to see me as I came in after work, happy as can be, wanted to give me kisses, and of course always asked did I bring them anything. That's a little slice of heaven.

When they were teenagers all that changed. It was, oh, hi dad, if they said anything at all. Then back to their phones, unless they needed the car, or money, or both.

After they finished college and all had moved out, we got a dog. He's always there to greet me, happy as hell to see me, and always grateful if I bring him a treat. Little kids and dogs; the only unconditional love you will ever get. They don't judge, they don't hold grudges, they just love you.

This has a lot of truth and that's why I prefer dogs over kids. Big difference between when children are little and when they become preteens and teenagers. OTOH, dogs are always wonderful companions regardless of their ages.

You actually think so... and that is the problem.

Dogs have owners.

Cats have STAFF.

People who have had kids know that kids turn out the way they turn out and that parents only modify behaviour and teach some lessons... the kid is their own person and becomes what they become as a result.

For me it was cats, all rescues
Makes me think of that saying, dog looks up at you, cat looks down at you and a pig looks you right in the eye

Believe what you want. I know that how a child or animal is taught has a major impact on what they become.

Those that prefer dogs require obedience and submitting, so yeah. Sorry you can no longer own slaves in people, must be a disappointment to you.

Unlike slaves dogs crave order and the security it provides. They have been our companions since the cave man and without that relationship humans likely would not have survived. Comparing it to slavery just shows your ignorance of that special relationship that has been going on for 100,000 years at least. I am sorry for you because you do not know what you are missing.

Follow the conversation closely... you disagreed with me for some reason and are now agreeing with me...
