[W:184]How do you like this “new normal”?

How do you like this “new normal”?

Get the virus. Odds are it won't kill you. Once you've recovered, you'll be immune.

Try not to spread it to your family members, or anybody else.

There are people who have "recovered" from the worst of their symptoms only to have lingering problems.

We don't know that survivors have immunity. 20% of common colds are caused by a corona virus.

It’s interesting to see you talk about your right to rant while you bash others for advocating for their rights.

My right to rant doesn't risk spreading a virus I don't even know I have to others in public, who in turn will end up spreading it to their family and others, because "muh constitutional right" not to wear a damned mask in public. Interesting that you don't grasp the difference.

You didn't lose me, you are simply wrong.

I'm wrong about not having Covid 19?

This is not about disease, it's about control. So control your own life.

You are wrong about being sure and thus not having to follow safety protocol, yes.

When was the last time you were tested?

I support your right to rant. Too bad you don’t support others rights to protest or worship in church or work.

I am assuming you can read, it is obvious you have difficulty thinking. Sweden has 297 deaths per million doing nothing, the US has 70 fewer deaths per million by shutting the country down. You realize that 70 deaths per million is less than 1/10,000th of one percent. Sweden also has an older population than the US which is a contributing factor.

It is one thing to be willfully ignorant but it is far worse being so stupid you don't even know you are stupid.

Nice try but no enchilada. You lose again. Nothing but excuses.

Heya, X... :) Long time, buddy.

I voted ****ing hate it. I'll be honest, I do. It's awkward, scary, sad, lonely, boring, inconvenient, and not a lot of fun, especially going into the nicer weather.

But you need to do a follow up poll. Ask everyone whether they'd rather deal with this "new normal", or be responsible for the death of someone else, or die themselves.

Doing the right thing often means doing the hard thing.

Hope you're staying safe and healthy, my friend. :)

Hello Nate. Sorry I missed this post yesterday, I got a lot of quote notifications. It’s true that nobody normal wants to be the cause of someone else’s death but does that mean then, we should be content to live like this forever because as soon as you start mingling people, the risks of all sorts of things go up. Is there ever a point that you feel safety at the expense of freedom is too much? Would you support someone else’s right to protest or worship in a church or work even if those aren’t important to you (and I mean hypothetically, not that those things actually are unimportant to you). Frankly there’s nothing more complex than political ideology at work here. Some are more willing to live with greater government controls and others more apt to oppose them.

I definitely do not want anyone else deciding for me what’s for my own good.

That's what it comes down to for we, Americans, who value freedom.

To hell with the hypocritical nanny statists who live by 'rules for thee but not for me'.

You haven't listened to a damn thing I have said. I am going to return the favor.

When doctors and scientists all over the world are telling me and everyone else that unless we take precautions we will get Covid-19. There is just no ambiguity about that. When a doctor gives me advice, I listen to the doctor, he knows more about infectious disease than I do.

I've done everything I've been asked to do. Next Monday I will be doing what the governor asked us to do, not what you think we should do. I personally think the governor probably knows more about the situation than you do, so you'll excuse me if I think you need to worry about your own business and not mine.

I never claimed to know more than my governor and I've never recommended that you do anything at all. I've done nothing less than what the CDC and my state governor recommended that I do. My governor was smarter than yours, we've been doing this for 2 months already. Again, I don't care if you run around whistling Dixie out your butt because I don't care about you one bit.

Somewhat unrelated question .. what does the [W:184] in the subject line mean?

From face covering requirements to being told, under penalty of law, whether you’re allowed to work or who you’re allowed to be with and where and when. Personally, I ****ing hate it (yeah, that’ll be a poll choice) and I’m not even one who’s suffering financially. I am in no danger of losing my job or not being able to support myself. Sometimes I think I should be more content to live as our ”leaders” tell us and just enjoy not having to go in to work every day, but then some new requirement or restriction gets announced, complete with strong encouragement to report non compliance, and I resent the hell out of it all over again.

Ok, so this is as much a rant as it is a poll but I am legit curious what the general feeling is.

poll incoming

I think we should have been practicing safer disease control measures for over 100 years since nature gave us a first hand warning with the influenza pandemic of 1918. But we think being prepared is that our president can snap his finger and a pandemic will just go away. I think this is what the people deserve who thought for the last 50+ years that it is just a cold or just the flu. We (the world) have decided not to take disease serious and to completely ignore the fact that a cold can mutate into somethin a hell of a lot more deadly than COVID-19. For all those people that think the president can snap his fingers and protect us there is a much more deadly lesson coming. It has never been if this deadly lesson is coming but when. We have gotten our second warning since the 1918 influenza pandemic. Not to mention MERS and SARS. Lets elect a different president and see if he can stop the asteroid strike coming with a snap of his fingers. Good luck. I think we need to prepare rather than blame after the fact. Armchair quarterbacks have never one a game.

I listened, but you are wrong. You are making a lot of assumptions about what you may or may not have based on anecdotal considerations (behavior) versus science.

You are, at best, guessing and assuming your opinion is fact.

Do you make it a habit to get banned from blogs because you are so nasty?

Don't start a S*** throwing contest unless you expect to get some back. I respond in kind.

Would that be the same doctors and scientist who originally said it could not be transmitted human to human?

Now that's the best example of projection I have ever seen.

Anecdotal considerations? Are you telling me that you know more about what's going on with my system than I do? I hate to tell you this, but in science you need data to analyze and you have none, at least not where I am concerned. No, it is you who are making assumptions and coming up with the wrong answer.

Then maybe you should keep your unwelcome and unfounded opinions to yourself.

Amen, Trix. This country was founded on a healthy distrust of government power and for good reason.

People like that really don't care about their fellow citizens.
What they do care about is having power over, control over, even those citizens they have no use for...

Amen, right back at you.
I don't know what version of the Constitution is being taught in our schools today, but it sure isn't the original version where the government was put in charge of protecting the INDIVIDUAL'S rights.

I heard a term for it today: moral narcissism. Wearing a mask, or a ribbon, or bitching about people who don't do what they want you to do is somehow considered a "caring" act. I've got some masks coming but by the time they get here our quarantine will be over.

I've had one Kool Aid drinker, who doesn't even know where I live, tell me my governor isn't very bright, another one told me they know more about my medical condition than I do. These people vote.

Would that be the same doctors and scientist who originally said it could not be transmitted human to human?

I don't know who said that, but doctors and scientists knew virtually nothing about Covid-19 up to two months ago.

Then maybe you should keep your unwelcome and unfounded opinions to yourself.

I have every right to respond to a thread, you have a problem with that? Take your problem to a mod if you do.

Yes, and I have every right to tell you to get lost. Do you have a problem with that?
