From face covering requirements to being told, under penalty of law, whether you’re allowed to work or who you’re allowed to be with and where and when. Personally, I ****ing hate it (yeah, that’ll be a poll choice) and I’m not even one who’s suffering financially. I am in no danger of losing my job or not being able to support myself. Sometimes I think I should be more content to live as our ”leaders” tell us and just enjoy not having to go in to work every day, but then some new requirement or restriction gets announced, complete with strong encouragement to report non compliance, and I resent the hell out of it all over again.

Ok, so this is as much a rant as it is a poll but I am legit curious what the general feeling is.

What do people's 'feelings' have to do with it? Most intelligent people look at a variety of sources, use some critical thinking to develop an informed opinion, and then use their moral compass to generate their perspective.

This is the barely coherent and grammatically inept speech of a man who desperately wants to be able to claim that he "cured coronavirus."

That's it, in a nutshell. When we do get a handle on this crisis, he wants to be able to pull out footage and declare "I called it! I said use this! I said try this! I told them to do this, it was my idea!" He's just doing it with lots of stupid stuff because he doesnt want to miss an opportunity. He's afraid 'the big one' will be mentioned and he wont get credit for it.

It's all about declaring himself the savior of the cv crisis and we'll hear all about it, esp in his campaign. (Which is basically each of his press briefings these days) --- Lursa

I do not see this as being normal. It is temporary. We will get past this and return to normal.

And, as always, nice to see you again.

I’ve watched a lot of news from a lot of sources and I’ve formed the opinion that a whole lot of what’s been done is some bull****.

I've "heard" alot of bull**** but seen little in practice as most (not all) states and people tried to minimize deaths.

The recent ridiculous protests would be an exception...guns, packed together, all puffed up and indignant...yeah...bull****. IMO

I wish I could trust that those in leadership positions actually want to return to normal. I mean this level of power and control has got to be appealing to those who have it. Maybe it’s just a local thing, but our county judge (sort of an equivalent of the mayor, though we got one of those too) actually put in one of his latest edicts something about trying to maintain the tightest restrictions possible while adhering to Governor Abbot’s executive orders. It definitely does not give the impression that a quick as possible return to normal is really his goal.

And thank you.

That’s funny, when it was protests in the NFL, that was the most and best American thing ever. When it’s people protesting against huge government control, it’s so wrong and “ridiculous”. What other restrictions would you support to “minimize deaths”? I mean, there are a ton of other things that kill us that the government could take action on. When is it too much control even for you?

It is OK because I, and pretty much everybody I know as friends, is fine. We are still all getting paid and it is just a bit of alone time... we complained today when we went to play tennis and the local council had shut down the courts... we went to some others and played... whew... would have really messed up my day if I could not have played some tennis.

You’ve given me an idea. On one hand, we’re ordered to not have social gatherings of any size with anyone we don’t live with but, sporting events are allowed as long as it’s four or fewer participants. Maybe I should keep some tennis equipment in my car in case I’m caught actually having a conversation in person with someone I know.

We were told by N.Z. Tennis that we can play singles but not doubles... even if the doubles consists of your bubble... like you, your wife and you two children on a court where nobody else is even at. That **** is shut down... but a hundred people can go into the store and lean over each other for some baked beans... the consistency of these social distancing orders, even here, are ****ing retarded.

Once a vaccine is found I have no doubt of that...

Well, I didnt pay much attention to the NFL protests...were they being total hypocrites? (Like the ones protesting CV wearing masks?) Were they endangering vulnerable, at-risk people by congregating in large groups? Were they carrying firearms for no reason other than to intimidate (and you know I'm a big 2A supporter)?

What 'other' restrictions do I support? For what? Do you believe that we should not have implemented social distancing and the other measures to reduce people dying from CV? Is it black and white for you? Um, the medical experts are watching infection trends and death rates in different regions and trying to determine a balance point where it will significantly minimize deaths. Not 100%, but make a significant difference. Should we not bother and open things back up and just write off the elderly and other at-risk people?

For financial reasons? No one is starving to death. No one is being evicted (that I've heard of...states are implementing rent and mortgage protection programs). Just choose $$ over lives? I hope you arent pro-life, because that's the major reason most women need to choose abortions...financial reasons.

No fun but has to be dealt with.

Ignoring it only leads to suffering for oneself and others.

Or people that are in the young and healthy and non-immune compromised situations can go to work, teach kids, do some plumbing, make some food, etc can work, get paid, not have the whole world shut down... etc.

Same here and that’s because they’re all reactionary It’s the same thing with, about, the bazillion of new laws that get implemented here every new legislative session. About 90% of them are in response to some major news item and they sound good, like someone’s really doing something, then they either don’t accomplish anything or they make things worse.

We have people out jogging, on the beach, shopping, going to pick up subway sandwich, etc etc etc.... but other businesses are shut down. It is so stupid. Why can I not go buy a new oven at our version of Home Depot? Keep the number of people let into the store at a certain level... keep people apart, etc... but no. Can't buy an oven. Can't pick up a Pizza Hut pizza at their store but we can pick up Burger King at their store... WTF?

If you support the government being able to mandate what you have to wear on your face and body, I hope you aren’t pro-choice. People making money to support themselves is not a minor consideration to be dismissed. It’s a valid concern and wanting to support yourself and your family isn’t horrible or selfish. You just, apparently, have a much higher tolerance for letting the government tell you how to live, so much so that you seem to have hostility toward anyone even questioning those controls.

The post you keep quoting, in red...you should put the quote code in it. That way, whoever you're quoting will get an alert every time you post it.

They'll drag out covid-19 until mid-term elections.

My life hasn't changed much at all. The grocery store closes earlier, Amazon takes a couple days longer, and my employer requires everyone to wear a mask (but much like his no-cellphone policy, the mask policy is ignored by all).
