Obama oratory skills dwarf those of both Trump and Biden.

So from the 20 there is now 1. Obama can now campaign without showing favoritism to any one candidate.

How much effect will Obama have?

I said 1%.

It's hard to imagine there are many people who could be swayed by Obama that are Trump voters today.

I know quite a few older liberals and youngish progressives, and none of them like Obama.

What would help too, is if Bernie campaigns for Biden in a way that brings all of Bernie's followers to the Biden camp.

I don't see the miserable, little **** doing that though.

How many (outside of those who are NeverTrumpers) yearn for those good old Obama days? I think that Obama will increase 'minority' voter turnout, but that alone is unlikely to put Joe "where am I?" Biden in the White House. IMHO, the 2020 POTUS election will depend on the US economy much as it normally does - if it sucks then out goes the incumbent POTUS, if it is OK or improving then the incumbent POTUS gets another term.

Neither Bernie nor Obama are going to help much with the 'progressives'. Obama has mass appeal within the party, but he will be preaching to people that are already committed to the party, not gaining new voters. Biden has tried running on the Obiden-Bama platform and it has bit him in the ass on illegal immigration and deportation, so I dont know how much help that will offer. Sure...Obama is still black-ish, but I believe it will be a hard sell for Obama to say vote for Joe after all...look at all the really wonderful things I did for black Americans.

In short...not much.

He won't have any effect on Biden, because Biden won't be the nominee.

Even if he does, I don’t see the Bernie bro’s going over to the democrat establishment candidate after hosing them yet again. No way.

It's really hard to vote on a specific percentage but Obama could play as big of a role getting Biden into the White House as he did getting him through the primaries. His campaigning will be essential to Biden's victory.

Then you likely dont know a lot of people. I know plenty who like Obama far more than either current candidate.

This will be about getting voters out to the voting booths or sending in their ballots, not really getting new voters.

I expect Obama to campaign for Joe. He will help turn the Bernie and Liz voters around and hopefully move the non-voter to the polls. Fired up, ready to go.

I would guess that it may be a REAL gamble on whether or not Barack may have a positive or negative effect.

It's a gamble I wouldn't take. But -shrugs- I'm in no decision making position about such things.

Someone else, and/or Barack, will decide this.

He can't push me any farther to the right....

Considering Obama's vastly higher overall approval rating than Trump's, I'd say many, and no that doesn't necessarily mean you're a "never trumper".

A lot of the Bernie voters are unhappy with the status quo and just want more disruption and chaos (they haven't had enough yet, apparently, with 4 years of Trump). If they can't have Bernie, and if Bernie doesn't throw his full weight behind Biden, more of them will vote for Trump.

I liked Obama and thought he was one of the more stable Presidents but he was a supreme bull**** artist.

If Obama can just gin up the enthusiasm in the African American community to just get out and vote, that alone will be enough.

All the usual suspects from Obama to Hollywood to the media will be out there trying to drag Biden across the finish line. But it is Biden who will have to convince people that he is up for the job. Good luck.

If Obama can get even half of those voters who voted for him in 2012, but stood home in 2016, to vote for Biden in 2020, that could easily tip the election in Biden's favor. Trump has done nothing to increase his support anywhere, and considering his razor thin victory in 2016 essentially due to 3 blue states, that could easily change if Biden can pull off what Hillary didn't. Too much emphasis is put into so called "Bernie Bro's", while ignoring other groups of voters who stood home in 2016.

Eh, I don't see that. More likely they still stay home.

Now there is 'delusion of the day'. Please explain to our listening audience how you come to that odd conclusion.

The stage is yours:

It happened last time. Very like will happen again to some extent or other.

Bernie Sanders supporters switched their allegiance to Donald Trump in large enough numbers last November to sway the election for the real estate billionaire, according to an analysis of voter data released Tuesday by the blog Political Wire. Since Trump's shock victory over Hillary Clinton, much discussion has focused on the degree to which passionate Sanders supporters' refusal to embrace Clinton led to the Republican winding up in the White House.

According to the analysis of the 2016 Cooperative Congressional Election Survey, fewer than 80 percent of those who voted for Sanders, an independent, in the Democratic primary did the same for Clinton when she faced off against Trump a few months later. What's more, 12 percent of those who backed Sanders actually cast a vote for Trump.
