Dick Cheny: Scumbag

What is Dick Cheny's worst act, securing his foothold as a scumbag?

I never met Cheney....but, I wouldn't go Quail hunting with him.

Why? Because I'm willing to challenge things that many people have decided to simply accept as "conventional wisdom" without being willing to accept challenges to such core beliefs?

No. That is not the reason. It is that you seem fine with what he and others in that administration did.

His worst act was deciding he was the best candidate for VP, after being asked to vet candidates for GWB. Imagine if we had a rational strong VP helping GWB. No Iraq war, perhaps no economic collapse. He is an evil man, the kind of guy who would shoot a friend in the face....oh wait, he did.

Kudos to OP for finding a subject other than Corona or Trump.

Not really, just not sure the relevance right now.

Can we talk about World War II? Poaching in Africa? The latest Star Wars movie? What is relevant?

Cheny was all about worming his way into decision making... he was the VP yet, as far as I know, he was the only one with offices at CIA, State Department, The White House, the Department of Defense, etc. He was all over the place. He rerouted classified material to him and decided if it was relevant or not to share it with the President and others. He was truly power hungry and I am certain that with his buddy Rumsfeld running the Iraq War they all made untold millions of dollars off of the death and ruin of a nation.

The saddest aspect is that GWB's dad warned him of these characters. Great movie by the way, right?

Very interesting and something that I think too many of us have forgotten... ..

Trump Hate (for right or wrong) dominates way too many peoples minds now.

You're "certain" but you have no actual PROOF of that claim.

Correct?

You think someone wouldn't have advocated invading Iraq without having a financial motive? I advocated invading Iraq and deposing the Hussein regime for years prior to 2003. I wrote letters to newly elected George W. Bush urging him to do so.

He didn't let me down.

Why are you and others bitching about that? It was clearly an accident and the guy wasn't even hurt much.

...whining much you are...

Whining about a dickhead who lambasted everyone who didnt go to war while never having the guts to do it himself? Chickenhawks dont deserve any respect they are rather disgusting hypocrites.

and while Cheney made a mistake, so did the guy who was shot. Since I doubt 99% of those who whined about this incident have any clue about quail hunting, I can sort of excuse their ignorance.

credible proof needed for that claim. BTW I don't criticize those who tried to avoid serving in a poorly prosecuted war that served almost no US interests.

It seems that complaining about Republicans is the relief they get from the hurt of Hillary losing.

That i can respect. THE 2004 CAMPAIGN: MILITARY SERVICE; Cheney'''s Five Draft Deferments During the Vietnam Era Emerge as a Campaign Issue - The New York Times

The problem was the whole campaign to impugn anyone who didnt agree with the iraq war.

seemed common-star football jock Biden got deferments,Howard Dean got a physical deferment so he could ski in the Swiss Alps. I wasn't a big fan of the Iraq war either though I don't buy the BS that Bush knew there was no WMD there.

Biden isnt innocent in this regard for sure. I dont give him a pass. Fair enough.

I think a bit more investigation would have been proper but under the terms of the cease fire negotiated by GHWB's administration and SH, the burden of proof as to WMD was on Saddam and that is a key factor many missed.

Dick Cheney turned 26 years old in Jan. 1967 at which point he was too old to be drafted.

So for most of the Vietnam War (considered to be 1965-1973 for the U.S.), Cheney wasn't eligible to be drafted anyway.

Did Cheney support the war the first couple of years? In the U.S. almost everyone did. It wasn't until the Tet Offensive in 1968 that American public and political opinion turned against the Vietnam War.

Dick used 9/11 to pursue a neocon dream from the Reagan years. Greeted as liberators? Thought everyone was.as greedy as he is. Read about Paul Breamer and the neocon plan for.Iraq. no doubt it.failed and in so doing they destabilize the entire middle east.

Poor jr. He had no idea what he was getting into. He was just the front man. A real post.turtle.

I do hold Clinton accountable for his failure to act on Bin Laden: if any president deserves blame for 9/11, it's Clinton. CIA counterterrorism station chief Michael Scheuer has revealed that the CIA had located Bin Laden no less than a dozen times during the late 90s, and each time Clinton refused to let them engage. This is of course the CIA's job, to use its paramilitary force in special circumstances against hostile people, in order to mitigate future conflict.

As fate would have it, on the morning of 9/11 Bill Clinton was giving one of thousands of paid speeches. During the speech, he decided to talk about Bin Laden.

“I nearly got him. And I could have killed him, but I would have had to destroy a little town called Kandahar in Afghanistan and kill 300 innocent women and children, and then I would have been no better than him.

“And so I didn’t do it.”

Hours after Clinton spoke, a hijacked Boeing 767 slammed into the north tower of New York City’s World Trade Center. A second plane struck the south tower 18 minutes later. Other planes crashed in Washington, D.C., and western Pennsylvania. The attacks, organized by bin Laden, killed more than 3,000 people.

Bill Clinton, Hours Before 9/11 Attacks: '''I Could Have Killed''' Osama bin Laden - ABC News

Clinton's version contains little to no truth. He even lied about Kandahar being 'a little town of 300'; the true population is over 600,000, and its a city.

Thanks for the link. I had no idea. Holy crap!

The Unitary Executive, because I think most everything else feeds into that one, and it's that which is being most exploited by Trump presently.

I remember hearing that Cheney was always a little fast on the trigger...killing stuff got him very excited. Also, this incident was not reported as legally required. So, it was an incident, not a trifle.

I read somewhere he SHOT a 78-year old man with a shotgun!

It was a trifling incident. And you've provided no proof of your claim.
