Can't say about children but people show up on the Canadian side of the border by the hundreds. They've shown up with frost injuries so severe it cost them fingers and toes. They show up in numbers that have overwhelmed our ability to process them.
Now, with this virus, the RCMP are turning them back into the US but before they were let in and processed as refugee claimants, despite the "safe country of origin" consideration.

The line is one year, I think. If the crime gets you less than a year in the bucket It's a misdemeanor. If you can get more than a year It's a felony.
That means the same crime goes from misdemeanor to felony for repeat offenders.

I was responding to the nature of part of the discussion. I believe that Trump scapegoats illegals who cross the southern border, ignores the realities that cause the ebb and flow of the migration, while never attacking employers, nor mentioning, say, European visa-overstayers hardly at all. If that was not your purpose in listing immigrant crimes, I apologize. But in general, blaming migrants for committing crimes does not make sense, as their crime rate us lower than citizens’. Illegals subsidize our lifestyles with their cheap labor. Conservative politicians and Trump get blessed twice by their presence: help for their business owner friends by keeping wages lower and unions weak, thus attracting illegals more than citizens to various jobs, l and being able to pose as defenders of America by bashing illegals. Not even Goebbels could top Trumps stunt of comforting the unfortunate victims of illegal alien crime in his public show.

As noted in my post there are crimes committed just by driving and working in the US.

Or do you believe all the illegal immigrants are not working or driving?

all but DUI traffic violations are MISDEMEANORS, so is crossing illegally...in fact, if it is simply you were caught in the US but not crossing, it is a civil infraction.

So fine them. And also fine their employers. It is indeed a problem if they are doing that. Try to correct it, end of story. My concern is the way Trump (and perhaps others in the media) highlight their crimes and their purpose for doing so. I googled “did Nazis highlight crimes by Jews” and saw newspapers with pictures and list of their crimes. Ok, it’s bad form to “go Hitler” in a discussion, but then I read of Trumps plan for publishing a weekly summary of illegals’ crimes. (I couldn’t discover if he kept at it.) Nazi purpose and Trump’s purpose are the same: be afraid, be very afraid; Make America Hate Again. Fight the infestation, as he called it. At least he didn’t call them vermin, only poisonous snakes.

Though Bill Kristol quipped that Trumps warning that illegals would infest our country “probably sounded better in the original German.”

The link doesnt mention mexico so im not sure how it is relevant. The reason it is a civil law matter is also because deportations are best handled through that law.

I am no longer a lawman. Gave that up in 1980. Found out I didn't like dealing with people everyday when they are at their worst. I get much more satisfaction fixing things.

Never had a parking ticket. Been arrested for one that a friend of mine got while driving my car. He paid the ticket the day he got it. Someone forgot to enter the cash payment. Lucky for me the person who got the ticket was in the vehicle with me when I was pulled over and arrested for it. He still had the receipt in his wallet. Otherwise I would have went to jail.

Incorrect on many levels.

Not all "but DUI traffic violations" are misdemeanors.

Most are simple infractions.

A misdemeanor IS a crime.

Are you stating crossing illegally is a crime?

Some of them work in factories, and I'm sure they will have jobs once they can go back to work.

The ones who work in agriculture will have jobs waiting for them once the crisis is over, and many work in agriculture.

But the ones who work in hospitality, cooks, maids, etc. Many will be out of a job.

I applaud your caring and humanitarian concern. I would not look upon you as a fool if you go and give them all of your money. Go for it. They will love you for it. Do it.

Of course it’s played again. Deservedly so. When Trump is toxic in his speech he should be called out on it.One can highlight illegal immigration as a problem without reading poems comparing immigrants, legal or not to poisonous snakes. How was my father a poisonous snake? What kind of low life does that? (True,, he also spread lies about citizen blacks and crime.). How are we to look at him as a leader when he spread hate, like saying there were “Middle Easterners in the caravan.” He is not only insulting immigrants, blacks, refugees with his lies, he is insulting his supporters by acting like he sees them as bigots. Tell me how dumping on various folks, referring to them as a group as a malignant “other” helps make America great again.
