I have been challenged more than one time by saying schools owe the children the education to keep them out of financial hot water. And pointed out that includes goal setting and correct planning. And putting all in writing.

The economical well being of all citizens, including the youth needs to be addressed at the school level. A rigorous course in the final years of high school could easily handle the problem.

It is true that far too many citizens lack the clear understanding of those items, goal setting and planning and the value they give to all using them.

And your 'goal' that you want schools to teach kids is how to get rich.

Sorry, money is not the focus I want my kid's goal to be thru their school career. As I've written before, I'd rather they teach the actual subjects and encourage things like respect for others, social/community responsibility, financial responsibility, and following your passions and talents in order to be "make a living." I see a great distinction between making a living and getting rich.

The public education system has evolved into thinking they are prep schools. They don't want to admit that they can not achieve that. More than half the children in public schools are not candidates for college. These kids fall through the cracks and are swept under the rug. Years ago when the United States was number one in education, they had auto shop, industrial training, home ed and other classes that were geared toward kids that were not headed to college. The saddest part of this is their is a great demand for people with these skills.

That's why I also included 'trades,' I am a huge believer that there are many great careers out there in the trades.

i am a landlord in a rent controlled city.. a landlord is a employee... the tenant pays us for our services/ apartment so they are the employer.. like the post office pays a carrier/mail-person to deliver mail. when you go to work can your employer withhold or dont pay you?? .and better yet you still have to work for your (Employer/tenant) during the time they are not paying you. if you are laid off for the covid 19 virus you are going to get 100 percent of your job money thru unemployment check + 600 per week + a one time 1200 dollar incentive check.... why the f--k cant you pay your rent.. i still have to work for my employer/tenants no matter they pay me or not!!!!!! Sorry i got carried away!!!!! lol

How many times have we heard the story of the kid that had nothing growing up and that created a fire in his belly to succeed in life?

I wonder where that has gone.

It goes along with what I posted. Poor teaching. Teachers tell them they are victims and due to their situation or skin color can not succeed. They are indoctrinated to be losers.

It is not moral issue

It is a contractual obligation. The same responsibility that business's and individuals have when they enter contracts. People and business's some times can not pay their contractual obligations, sometimes they go broke and declare bankruptcy. If that is not counted as a moral failing then neither should not being able to pay ones rent. If one expects the renter to pay rent first and starve the same should expectation should be held towards business's and their owners

Why would they starve? We have food banks everywhere that will give anyone food.

'Government Needs to Step In': Food Banks Across US Report Unprecedented Demand—and Shortages—as Coronavirus Pandemic Ravages | Common Dreams News

"We're seeing people from every socio-economic level because the majority of Americans live paycheck to paycheck."

As 6.6 million Americans filed jobless claims last week—part of at least 10 million people in the U.S. who are out of work in the last two weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic—increasingly long lines at food banks across the country offered another grim illustration of the financial realities faced by the poor and working classes in the United States.

According to an investigation by The Guardian, demand at food banks has increased by eight times in some areas. About a third of people interviewed by the outlet at food banks last month had never before needed food assistance.

Well, maybe the governors of our states should stop crippling this nation.

Oh you mean by not spending any more money on ventilators, masks, gowns and gloves for medical personnel taking care of people on ventilators? That would work. The food banks could fill up again and thousands could get some food for their family. Unfortunate for the people sick and dying in hospitals though, oh well.

They should stop handing it out to people who are here illegally. They make up the majority of their customers.

Probably in the past. Now we have citizens more in need than ever. I agree. Stop subsidizing the illegals.

I expect food banks limit the amount of food prole get per month

They should. I volunteer three or four times a year to work in one. Too many people who are not needy abuse them. A few months ago, after spending a day helping out in a food pantry my friend and I decided to stop in a near by restaurant for a meal before we went home. At the table next to us was 8 people obviously from the same family. That day, at least four of them had been to the pantry getting food. To these people it was a free grocery store. Generous people were providing their food so they could spend their money on food and drinks in a restaurant. These people come to our country illegally, take advantage of everything they can and send their money home. That is a fact.
