Have you answered the 20202 census.

I got another code yesterday and was able to log in and respond to the few questions of the 2020 census. Have anyone else filled out their census form yet? Is there a longer form for some people or it is just 5-6 basic questions about age, how many people live in the house and ethnicity?

The Constitutional purpose of the census is to count the people. That's what they get from me. 5-6 questions is way to many. Ethnicity in particular should never be asked nor should it ever be an issue.

I got the long form once. I was told I could possibly go to jail. I asked if I could bring my coloring books. Never heard from them again.

What is the Purpose of this Survey?
The survey's purpose is to measure the levels of residential mortgage debt and to provide data for assessing the effectiveness of the current residential finance system in promoting the goal of a decent home and suitable living environment for every American.

The maximum penalty is a hundred bucks. The person that comes banging on your door will threaten you with jail. The last time a person was prosecuted for the crime of not filling out the form was 1970, so I'm not actually worried.

And what part of the Constitution is that?

An aside: When you apply for a mortgage, you are asked for ethnicity. If you refuse (and many do) Then it's the obligation of the originator to fill in the blank. Difficult for on line lenders, So they call the appraiser. Who often refuses.

Please, do not think I exempt them, they are the ones who got me started, to the chagrin of my neighbors who have inadvertently been caught in the crossfire. I've also done the same to annoying friends of my wife. A scorched earth policy.

The rest of it isn't anyone's business, including the government.

Last time, they sent some kid with a sharp #2, clipboard and apparently very strict instructions to not trespass. Stood at the end of our driveway for awhile as I worked on our front mulch beds. Had no trouble ignoring him. Neighbor across the street, in his deputy's uniform, got a good chuckle as he shouted across the pavement if I needed anything. The Census taker...moved on.

Charge me. I'll pay the fine. You only get a head count. Period.

Questions beyond a simple count are Constitutional
It is constitutional to include questions in the decennial census beyond those concerning a simple count of the number of people. On numerous occasions, the courts have said the Constitution gives Congress the authority to collect statistics in the census. As early as 1870, the Supreme Court characterized as unquestionable the power of Congress to require both an enumeration and the collection of statistics in the census. The Legal Tender Cases, Tex.1870; 12 Wall., U.S., 457, 536, 20 L.Ed. 287. In 1901, a District Court said the Constitution's census clause (Art. 1, Sec. 2, Clause 3) is not limited to a headcount of the population and "does not prohibit the gathering of other statistics, if 'necessary and proper,' for the intelligent exercise of other powers enumerated in the constitution, and in such case there could be no objection to acquiring this information through the same machinery by which the population is enumerated." United States v. Moriarity, 106 F. 886, 891 (S.D.N.Y.1901).

You can scream at me in red all you want. I never claimed it was illegal, just that it wasn't anybody's business. Like I did say: charge me. I'll pay it. They can charge me again or hold me in contempt of court...but they'll have to literally compel me to answer. Like to see 'em throw me in jail for that. Since they're letting every other non-violent criminal out on the streets these days, that'd make for some very interesting viewing.

the enumerator will just fill in the blanks with a best guess
litigation unnecessary ... that it should be needed is foolish
that the information is withheld is immature
