I think by August more than 2/3rds of the globe will have been infected by the first wave.

Sooner or later everyone will get it. By the time it gets to most people, they won't even notice. It's the nature of viruses.

And if folks understand this they should understand that the current measures being taken is just to slow the spread, not prevent it. So folks should stop overreacting/panicking (not that will happen).

Absent nearly complete testing (coupled with forced quarantine and contact tracing) COVID-19 is likely to spread here like it is in Italy, especially when "social distancing" is relaxed as Trump wishes to do in 7 days because "We''ll just have to see what happens" to start the V shaped economic recovery ASAP.

Yes, the whole family.

We're doing everything we can to keep it away from the grandparents. Hoping they get a vaccine out soon.

The measures are to buy time for the strain to become non-hazardous. However, the true threat has always been panic. One big problem is that those who should calm and inform, agitate for higher levels of panic. You can see it in this thread.

And, of course, politicians are trying to make hay. Winston Churchill said: "Never let a good crisis go to waste." We are seeing a lot of that today.

I'm not quite sure how that is meant to assuage fear.

Eventually, I expect to be exposed. Yes.

I also expect to survive without major issues. I may be in one of the possible risk levels, but I also have a fit, healthy body/immune system.

For some reason I have never suffered the effects of either a cold or the Flu since a bout of the Flu which hospitalized me for 2 days when I was nine years old.

I don't know if I have any immunity to the current coronavirus, but I think I can endure it if I ever do get it.

If not, oh well, that's life.

What you say is true as that is what is going to happen anyways.
What I stated was a reflection on making the burden more manageable until that happens.

Yes. There is no need for that.
I swear, folks choose to be irrational.

Did I say it was meant to sway your fear or irrationality?
U r already confused. I never said I was. ilol

So, again, how is that meant to assuage fear?

I'm not so sure. Most people have not caught H1N1, SARS 1 or MERS. So, I'll say you gotta be somewhat unlucky to catch this one too.

Mind you, I could be wrong.

I do not know.

I'll take that as a no, it does not support an argument to stop overreacting/panicking.

It's entirely possible anyone who lives in a city or suburbs can be infected. I might have already as I felt a bit beat last week for 2-3 days. In self-isolation now like everyone else on my block.

Your name suggests that you want the truth and not to have your fears assuaged. The real truth is that the government, no matter who is in office, cannot be relied on to protect us against any and all calamities. It's unreasonable and wasteful to think the government should just have millions and millions of masks stock piled in warehouses in every state and have millions of beds and respirators. I looked at the Russian Flu of 1889 was also suspected of having started in China and spread within weeks all across the globe at a time when there was no air travel or much in the way of other transportation and killed ONE MILLION people or more at a time when we were far less populated. Did we have vaccines then? Or masks? Or a cure? No. Those who were susceptible to getting infected did and those who were susceptible to dying did.
Now we have travel by air, sea and land at rapid clips with different countries mingling and it is certain that the virus will hit nearly everyone unless you are a recluse.

All we can do is buy time and hope that a vaccine in made. Testing takes awhile because unknown side effects have to be considered and side effects have occurred in the past that were worse than the "cure". Maybe some day science will be far enough advanced to eliminate every virus and germ that could kill us. That isn't the way it is now. We are too populated and this is nature's way of thinning the herd. Someone said I was callous to say this. He apparently wanted a lie instead of the truth.

I would wish I had already gotten the Corona virus and didn't know it because my symptoms were mild. I am hearing that many people just don't get it. they have immunity for some unknown reason. For some reason, young kids don't. Go figure. no one knows why. It is said that the truth will set you free. The truth is that sometimes it is the luck of the draw. You may have immunity or you may not. None of us get out of here alive.

You keep showing you are the one confused. :lamo

You misunderstand.

Mary Mallon

I misunderstand what?

Millions of Mary Mallons in America.

Shutter your doors and windows because I sense fear in you. We all die some day. No one gets out of here alive. Most all of us live far past what our ancestors did.

Can you get it from collecting your mail from from the mailbox? Or home grocery delivery? If not then I should be okay. Been self isolating for 12 days now and it's not much different from when this crap show began.

This has been a horrible event for the entire world. We are all social distancing to let the medical industry catch up with this new disease. Equipement build up, protection build up, testing build up, social distancing practices and sanitary improvements will all curb the spread of CV as well as other diseases.

This is definitely a historic time we are living in. A pandemic and a complete shutdown of a country to control the spread of a disease. Most countries in the world are going thru this same nightmare. Holy ****. Are we going to be a people who are raring to get back to work when this event is over or are we going to become a timid society afraid of every sneeze and cough from this time forward?

We really should be worried because our economy is currently in ICU. We are on life support and eventually the plug will be pulled. Do we live or die?

Personally, I think this country will get the hell up and be stronger than ever.

Hopefully not until we have a vaccine and I have taken it.
