we should abolish our general warfare spending.

Before we lay down too many guns we might want to consider the fact that there are those in other nations who hate America and are looking for ways to hurt us tremendously. If we weaken our defenses we may find them taking bolder steps to attack.

We don't have a general warfare clause. You can have "as much defense" as you want, if you pay general warfare tax rates. Go ahead right wingers, balance the budget for national security.

This seems like a good time to cut funds to the poorest, NOT.

Trump is an uncompassionate narcissist that will tank the economy.

Trump is getting a little over confident. He's treading on the third rail of politics. I predict he will deny he ever said it very soon.

Trump said that if he's reelected he'd cut entitlements such as Social Security and Medicare to shrink the trillions in national debt

President Donald Trump said at a Fox News town-hall forum on Thursday that he intended to reduce funding for entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare, two of the largest.

"Oh, we'll be cutting," he said. "We're also going to have growth like you've never seen before."

The move would be a reversal from Trump's pledge to leave those programs untouched.

But he has recently expressed a willingness to reduce funding for Social Security and Medicare in a second term.

Trump was asked about the $23 trillion national debt, which has continued to surge under his watch. He campaigned in 2016 on wiping it out but has enacted laws like the 2017 tax law that have piled on more.

The Fox News host Martha MacCallum told the president that if "you don't cut something in entitlements, you will never really deal with the debt."

Just another reason it is imperative we send Trump and republicans packing in November.

Amen. I'm tired of the Reverse Robinhood, with the elite feeding poor people their toe jam.

And how have you done your part? Most of those who hate America do so because we meddle and obstruct their development. We have an almost seventy-year history full of CIA-led coups and coup attempts to ruin democracies, economic support towards strengthening autocracies on every continent, and half-assed wars and invasions that have left people in ruin.

An aircraft carrier is a projection of power that allows us to not only control the seas, but watch entire regions up close. We have 12. Our closest competition has 4, but they are our European allies. Our closest enemy has 2 (China) with Russia only having 1. Cutting funds towards our bloated Defense contracts will not hurt our defense. We have long already been weakening our defenses by catering far too much to how many tanks we have. Our true threats involve China and Russia playing geoeconomics, for which we have not even bothered to respond:

- China has created their own World Bank called the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). It has been supporting the building of infrastructure throughout the Indo-Pacific region. It is a rival to the World Bank and the IMF, institutions we established and used to center the world around our dollar, which gave us tremendous influence in the world. The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) was an answer in which our allies in the Pacific needed in order to block growing Chinese geopolitical and geoeconomic influence. We walked away from TPP and left them to fend for themselves. In the meantime even our allies have begun to invest in strengthening the AIIB. These allies include Germany, France, the UK, and Israel.

- We tabled the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) for an entire year in 2017, allowing Putin to strong arm and employ pipeline diplomacy across Eastern and Western Europe.

- Our economic games with Iran have forced the Iranian regime to look to China, who they hate. But China is exploiting our wrong-headed foreign policy and has become an economic outlet for Iran and a trade partner. With our foolish retreat from the Syrian territory in 2019, we gave Russia free reign. And with Iran supporting Assad, we opened the door for Russia, Iran, and China to exercise geoeconomic and geopolitical influence in the territory. Considering that this is neighboring Israel, and considering that our foolish walking away from the Iran deal gave them license to go ahead with any nuclear ambitions, we have bent Israel completely over. And as we can see through the AIIB, Israel is already looking at China to be a major player in the Middle east and considering them the future. With Obama and Trump announcing to the world that we are "bringing them home" and American Conservatives pushing "America First" as a threat to isolate, does Israel even have a choice?

Our enemies don't fear our military because they don't care about it. While we pompously parade ourselves around as having the strongest military in history, for nineteen years throwing billions against a $50 IED, China and Russia have been taking over regions in the same manner that we did during the Cold War. And we are allowing it. During our "war on terror," we have pushed Syria towards Turkey, Russia, and Iran, pushed Turkey towards Russia, pushed Iran towards China, and pushed Pakistan towards China. Every time Obama or Trump foolishly declares that they are "bringing them home," think about the vacancy we are leaving for the Chinese, who are exponentially thirsty for Middle Eastern oil. The greater influence we allow the Chinese to have in the Middle East, the more our allies in Europe and the Pacific will have to bend to Chinese geopolitical influence and demands. As I showed you, they are already investing in the AIIB.

But if Trump wants to do something about our debt, perhaps he should acknowledge that his Tax-Cut and Jobs act provided the loop holes that allowed over 90 corporations of the Fortune 500 to pay 0% taxes on the hundreds of billions they made in 2018. There will be far more paying 0% taxes for 2019. But Trump won't face this because that was his intention, while encouraging people like you to cheer for it. Instead, he will come to you to pay the debt by going after the Social Security and Medicare you have earned by paying your taxes. He also placed the burden on you by creating an economic environment that will have to see your taxes raised. Were your tax-cuts permanent? Did you pay 0% taxes in 2018? In the meantime, these corporations will lobby our civilian leaders to use the military to guard their overseas assets, a military, by the way, full of people who pay their taxes.

Then pray tell why Mr. trump then signed it?

There are lots of reasons why Presidents sign bills. President Bush signed the illegal McCain/Feingold Campaign Finance Reform bill, even though he knew in advance it was unconstitutional. By signing the bill he could include a Signing Statement that included his thoughts on the law. Without that signature there is no Signing Statement.

If you are referring to the last veto-proof budget Trump signed in December 2019, he signed it because Congress waited until the last minute to pass the bill. Congress was ending the session before the 10 calendar days (excluding Sundays) had elapsed. Which meant that if Trump didn't sign the bill it would effectively become a Pocket Veto. Congress would have had to hold another vote when they returned from their Christmas break in January. It would effectively have shut down the federal government for that two week period. It still would have passed and become law, but the federal employees would have been screwed out of their Christmas paychecks.

My brother said when the US Army moved into Baghdad after the war the people welcomed them as heroes.

Many of the Shi'a did.

The Sunni were cautious.

Then Abu-Ghraib.

Then they all get pissed.

Your brother should consider matters beyond the first few months, you know, when Rumsfeld's complete refusal to plan for the post-game left us with far too little forces to occupy and do the second part of the mission. The Marines had to go back in 2004, but this was not enough and too late to quickly create security. Add in a couple Fallujah's with the first one being a disaster because Bush stopped us on the 95 yard line, and we struggled to instill confidence thereafter. A civil war ensued, but was handled.

Shiek Sattar was working with us to create the Anbar Awakening. Major Sunni tribes were working together in corporation with the Iraqi military to deny al-Qaeda (future IS) bases. And the government in Baghdad was working. Then there was Obama's foolish retrograde out of Iraq in 2010 just when our military was finally getting the Iraqi government to work together. In our premature absence, Malaki immediately shoved Sunni representation out of the government, effectively turning it into a Shi'a government. Then came IS, which simply moved into vacant territory and quickly consumed.

So, the whole clinging to the idea that we were heroes falls apart fast.

The devil worked overtime in the minds of the Iraqis to hate Americans just as he worked overtime in the minds of Americans to hate Americans. To hell with the devil. We need to love and serve God who teaches us to love our enemies, not hate them.

Yes, let's love and serve God by killing innocent people in other countries in His name. You don't seem to even want to understand this. By claiming God as our righteous justification to drop bombs on people, we only prove how alike we are to those Islamists who drop planes on people, also, in God's name.

Satan has to do nothing. God's "true" believers are more than capable and quite energetic to do Satan's work.

How is it that cutting self funding programs like SS(accepting the natural mortality/morbidity tables adjustments) is required, but cutting the crazy, misgoverned spending on welfare, which is by nature deficit spending, makes sense?
Please return the true investment and then talk of cutting spending!

Did you say "Cut funds to the poorest"? People above 65 are the wealthiest Americans. They control over 65% of the wealth in this country. Less than 10% of them live in poverty. On average people in the 75+ bracket are worth 23 times that of Millennials

Household Income and Wealth Gains Favor Older Americans
The Graying Of Wealth

I feel cuts to SS or Medicare are wrong because these are paid for benefits. However, facts show that these people can most afford the cuts.

In my Opinion, cuts would not be necessary if the fraud were eliminated. SS benefits are being paid to over 2 million dead people in the US. SS disability is also rife with fraud. Medicare is also rife with fraud. Big government programs are easy targets for fraud. The problem with eliminating it is a few innocents will be unintentionally injured by the processes and the politicians and media will make this a nightmare for those in control.

It doesn’t take the devil to create animosity towards people dropping bombs causing collateral damage. Regardless of the character of the intended target.

Except they aren’t paid for. The actuaries have said so for decades. Which is why in 2034 it’s out of reserves and what goes out is only what goes in, which means mandated cuts. How much are those Millenials told by the actuaries they will get after paying in just as long?

War is a fact of life and those who think good people are made evil for fighting to preserve what is good in the world are deceived.

War is a fact of life.....

So is using God to legitimize it. A proper Christian would declare that war is not an instruction from Jesus Christ, but we are imperfect beings that have to live in an imperfect world, thus warfare. But you don't say this do you? You excuse war as God's work, while conveniently shoving Christ to the periphery. Notice how nobody ever say's that war is Christ's work.

You see Christians have two options: (1) Eye For An Eye, or (2) Turn the Other Cheek. I guess the Son fell far from the tree. So has his Christian believers.

...and those who think good people are made evil for fighting to preserve what is good in the world are deceived.

Good people are made evil when they conduct war in the name of God and politicize their faith. History is full of people who have waged war in the name of God and they have all been wrong. The minute you turn your violence into a righteous and religious crusade is the moment you begin to excuse evil deeds. For example: you will scream murder about abortion, but shrug off dead kids under American bombs. God's work?

In terms of your faith, your politicization has you offering blind support towards an ungodly man who created massive loop holes for the wealthy to pay 0% taxes and is following that up by telling you that your tax-paid Social Security and Medicare must be seized in order to pay for his increased national debt. Find Jesus Christ in that. Last I checked, Jesus fed the 5,000 and they didn't even pay him a tax. You've paid your taxes, whereas the wealthy under corporate umbrellas no longer do, yet no fish for you. It's hard to tell if we are a democratic nation or a Stalinist nation anymore. Even Fascism managed to take care of its citizens.

Just because the government raided these accounts and took the money does not mean they are not paid for. They take money out of every paycheck to pay for this benefit.
