I was stuck in the car commuting and listened to trump's entire press conference.

In a time of crisis we need someone at the helm who knows how to project a air of calm and assure Americans and the world of their strong leadership and unite the populace.

My take away:

trump did nothing to show he knew what the **** he was talking about. While complimenting his own CDC he contradicted them when he answered: "I don't think the spread will get worse - it might get worse - it might not be that bad - we'll just have to see what happens"!

He tried to blame the 2,000 point drop in the stock market on Wednesday's Democratic debate - (even though the crash happened Monday and Tuesday and the debate wasn't until Tuesday night).

He repeated over and over how "we all should stick together and not attack your political opponents to score cheap political points" which is a scream coming from trump - but then he right then started insulting his political opponents!

Anyway - my opinion - trump is possibly the worst thing that could happen to this nation during a crisis. We knew there would be a national crisis - now here we are - and just as expected - we're in deep ****.

Thank God we have an intelligent President who keeps his cool even in a crisis.

Oh, wait. Wrong decade. :doh

We are not IN a time of crisis. There currently is no crisis.

He did not contradict anyone or anything. He admitted that he has no ability to predict the future, a wise choice with the current situation.

He tried to blame the 2,000 point drop in the stock market on Wednesday's Democratic debate - (even though the crash happened Monday and Tuesday and the debate wasn't until Tuesday night).

We aren't in "deep ***" - and there is no crisis.

You're easily excited & manipulated by the retards running the media circus, that's all.

This is all just so silly how much irrational fear this coronavirus has caused. Truly, in the same amount of time coronavirus has caused some 3,000 deaths worldwide; the common flu has killed upward of 400,000 people. Hundreds of thousands of more people. Had we literally called it the corona-flu, we've have been right back to square one of people not caring even in the slightest.

But, the media has sunk their teeth into it. And it's different, as if that has to do anything with anything.

What would've been great right now is a President or a leader that had the capacity to sit everyone down and tell them to calm them the hell down. We are likely to the point where coronavirus will become as common as the flu—at least for a season. But it's not going to cause Armageddon or crash the economy. It, like the flu, can be hindered or even ENTIRELY prevented by hygienic and smart practices.

So what I would have loved to see if Trump be able to communicate to that to the public. Wash your hands. Cough into your arm. Stay at home if you have symptoms. Drink plenty of water. Seek urgent care if you or someone in your care has severe symptoms. And so on.

No, instead he went on a rant about the new media "out to get him" and the stock market. FFS. :doh

Another "bug scare," and yes, it IS silly & irrational.

They want to see if we are easily trained monkeys it looks like.

Will we jump when they say jump ?

... some of us will LOL

Trump DID talk about the common sense ways of protecting and cleaning, not sneezing at each other etc. He even spoke of his own germophobic tendencies LOL

"I call them The Original Fifteen." Can I buy a t-shirt?

"We took some from Japan. They were American citizens, ya know. We could have left them, but that would have been terrible." Is that a warning to not leave?

When Pence spoke of a team accomplishing something, he was quick to add, "under the President's leadership". Trump perked right up. Seems Pence nailed his buzzword for Trump tonight. When the next person spoke and mentioned a team accomplishing something, he didn't add the apparently obligatory, "under the President's great leadership". He just went on to the next sentence. I think I heard Pence gasp and saw a tear form in Trump's eye.

Your "opinion" of Trump is well-known, so it is not surprising that you will look at anything he does in the worst light possible.

That's okay, you are entitled to that opinion.

Your opinion aside, Trump is doing what he is supposed to. He has qualified people assigned to do the legwork, and given Pence control over the process to report to him.

He's asked for funding and willing to take more if Congress want's to give it.

Of course he doesn't have all the answers, not even "pre-coached" answers like most politicians do.

But IMO, (yes it's an opinion) he's doing what needs to be done.

Donald Trump spoke as some of us predicted he would, namely, it's like a cold.

A cold or the flu. . it's in those categories of viruses.

Which have been with us forever and are always changing - which is why we still get the flu and colds after we've had 20 or 30 or ... more versions of them in our lives .. and then our immune systems have to build up immunity to a new version regularly..

This isn't new or even newsworthy, truthfully. This has been going on for as long as we've been here on earth and will continue going on, this virus doesn't even have an extraordinarily high mortality rate, or even a high one.

Lot of noise about nothing...

BUT, we can use it as another excuse & item to blame on our orange monkey ; ) ... I remember the days when everything was Bush' fault.. now it's Trumps fault

How's your 401k doing this week? ;)

Doing .... not as well as I'd like it to.... so I added some TOO it - perfect time to ; )

Lot of dummies panicking about nothing, making things tank a bit.. good time to invest

You're either lying or extremely misinformed.

Contradictions

trump contradicted his own CDC by repeating the misinformation that there are only 15 cases in the U.S. There are actually 60. he also claimed that there was no pandemic, when his own CDC stated there is one and there will be more cases in the U.S.

Not a Crisis

Travel restrictions - no travel, flights, tourism from the US to or from China.

Supply chains cut off - to China and soon, Korea

The Dow plunging 2000 points this week.

Please

My opinion of trump is based on observations of his constant lying, deflecting, and purveying of misinformation. Your defense of him stems from your hatred of anyone who opposes trump and your blind partisanship.

If trump is your ideal example of a leader who should be overseeing an international crisis then that says all anyone needs to know about you.

It would be the democrats who stirred up panic.
Nothing Trump does will satisfy the loony left, nothing.
You were probably one of the first that called Trump a racist for banning planes from entering our country from China. That was when we first learned of the virus.
There have been numerous meetings to draft a plan since then. Don't you remember the photo that made the news criticizing that the scientist on Trump's team was not diverse enough. LOL.

Like everything else with Mr. Trump, and his supporters, I got the impression that he, and his supporters consider him to be the virus's greatest victim.

Yep, you're a true trumpian disciple. Your opinion of me and Democratic politicians is as relevant and the information trump passed along at his press conference.

I'll bet you buy the bull**** that the Democratic debate caused the Dow to plunge 2,000 points this week. You are adorable :)

Perhaps I am extremely misinformed...or perhaps the president was ? He MAY have been told that there were 15 cases at the time, rather than 60.. we don't know

If he only knew one number, he would not have been wise to pick another number at random.

Of course people who hate Trump can say he KNEW BOTH numbers and chose to lie and use the smaller one -shrugs-

It is not a crisis. Some like to THINK it's a crisis and have done all they can to MAKE it a crisis... like we have with the weather ... like we have with guns etc etc etc.

It's a good fake crisis though - never let a good crisis go to waste - a good time to invest while markets are a bit low : )

No, I blame Trump for the DOW's plunge.

No, I blame Trump for the DOW's plunge.

? Then you're still misguided. The drop in the Dow was a result of the anticipation of the economic effect of the coronavirus outbreak, precipitated by personal and business travel restrictions and supply chain disruptions.

Uh huh. Tell the people of China who depend on the world's demand for their cheap goods this is not a crisis. Inform the travel industry dependent of business travel and summer tourism. They might have a different opinion - based on actual facts - not your feelings.

No, I listen to Chucky and Nancy. Trump is incompetent. I agree with the left because of Trump's incompetence, he caused the drop in the DOW.
We need someone in the office that will really f*** up the economy. That someone can blame it on Trump during his/her presidency.

That performance foreshadows the future. I don't think it matters who the D's nominate, by election day the depth of djt's incompetence will disqualify him from everyone but his most fanatical supporters.

djt said'...numbers of patients are going down...' Later that night the first example of community spread of the virus occurred.
djt said'...April is coming and it should get smaller...' That is somewhat true for flu with bacterial issues, but a virus is a different animal than a bacteria
djt said'...we are prepared for everything...' Unbelievably false, he has cut CDC's budget by about 30% since he came to office and fired the interagency response team President Obama created to deal with the Ebola crisis.

If he crows about the slowing of the virus in spring and summer, we'll know that he knows nothing about the Spanish flu of 1918, a global pandemic that killed the majority of its 18 million victims in its second wave during the following fall.

Uh huh. Tell the people of China who depend on the world's demand for their cheap goods this is not a crisis. Inform the travel industry dependent of business travel and summer tourism. They might have a different opinion - based on actual facts - not your feelings.

Perhaps it would be a good time to bring back manufacturing to the US so in the future, the supply chain is not interrupted.
Why is China the largest producer of medical supplies and medication?

The people of China are generally doing fine. Currently the "news" shows us some pretty outlandish crap happening. propaganda.

Summer business for the travel industry is still a bit ahead of us.

The fact is that this flu/cold virus will be a *yawn* soon enough. It will disappear in the "media" and no one will want to talk about it any longer. We will move on to the next "crisis."

Which will be the weather. Or 'guns' - some nut will go shoot some people again and we'll have a brand new 'crisis' to cry about. MAYBE a new flu or cold virus will rise up - as they WILL, they always have - and give the panic mongers something else to get you freaking out about LOL

Have fun ; )

People will know the government is keeping an eye on it.

Do people have 100% faith in the government? No.

That's the same problem Bernie has with his nationalized healthcare plan. People don't have 100% faith that Bernie's plan will work and their lives will be better. They know the government will screw nationalized healthcare up.
