There is growing fear this is "Virus X." For decades, it has been warned a worldwide pandemic is overdue. All of known human history is marked by sizable pandemic kill-offs, whether restricted though massive (at least 90% of peoples of all of the Americas and 100% exterminations in the entire Caribbean and much of inland regions) or worldwide such as the black plague and Spanish Influenza - all spread by travel.

Because covid-19 is believed to be evolving from a strong but typical flu to increasing lethality and overall far worse symptoms and damage, and with a troublesomely long incubation period and carriers with no symptoms too, the worry it is covid-19 is Virus X - a true lethal worldwide pandemic for which there is no vaccine nor cure. If so, millions are going to die and the effects - economic and social - could be huge.

Not sure how this would adversely impact our economy. Nothing says it will be overnight. As a matter of fact we have been talking about it for about two years with only a slight change.
 
This virus will be all but over in the US months before the election. Things will be back to normal(which they haven't really changed) here way before that. It might have some longer term damage in other countries, but even for all the **** we get for our healthcare, its still some of the best in the world and we are very good at preventing massive outbreaks. Everything currently is hysteria from the same people that think the illuminati is waiting around the corner.

The Democratic talking heads are already making up every possible reason why this is Trump's fault. They literally are blaming it on Trump's tariffs on China.

If Trump continues to handle the situation badly...and there’s a 100% chance that he will...then I doubt that will help him terribly much in his electoral efforts.

Trump is at the mercy of this not turning into a pandemic. And there’s no reason to think that it won’t turn into a pandemic officially before the end of the week.

I voted no effect. It's about 9 months until we vote for President. Chances are, this virus and hard times on business dealings and other temporary problems will be over long before next November.
Having said that, if this had been 5-7 weeks before the election my answer would have been "probably."
 
The Fed, along with many central banks around the world, have been going to great lengths since the 2009 crisis to keep things afloat with diminishing affect. The global economy is not nearly as rosy as the markets would suggest and many indicators were showing further weakness in an already weak economy in the months leading up to the Coronivirus outbreak. We were already seeing the first signs of a next global recession and the pandemic is only going to greatly compound that issue.

The economy is the single most important issue to most people and I am sure Trump is aware of this. Im sure he will gladly tout his great economy and blame the incoming rescission on the Coronivirus if things start looking especially bad before Nov.

If my sister had balls she'd be my brother.
It was pointed out to me that outside Wuhan the mortality rate is less than 1%. This is fear-mongering.

Trump spoke today of the virus and it looks to me like he believes our Doctors won't face much of it and if they do, will do a fine job.

Not, it is not. Your bullying will not work. Covid-19 is dangerous but it is not the black death either by far, unless it mutates.

Go about your life. Practice good hygiene. If you are older, or have infants and toddlers, or are auto immune deficient, protect yourself.

It's not the end of the world but be wary of anyone who says it is not nothing: that's not true.

Who do you think is smoking that crack? Taxes for the ordinary have not risen since hell froze over. The main public has no clue what paying even modest income taxes is like.

I normally do not side with Mal a lot but on this medical issue, I side with him. This threat is overblown. Sounds like Jim Acosta is lying to us again.
