It obviously doesn't work, which is why"]pay less than everyone else.[/URL]

Right?

I have heard stories from countries that do it

if you want that crap (long wait times/rationing.. low R and D/innovations, etc..), move to one of those countries. I wish the socialists would stop being hypocrites and just DO THAT already

instead of trying to ruin this country with their half-baked, ignorant ideas... (1/10000th baked actually)

Neither France, nor Germany, nor Sweden, nor the UK, nor Canada, nor Spain, nor Portugal, nor Italy, nor Brazil, nor Argentina, nor Chile, nor Peru, nor Paraguay, nor Uruguay, nor Mexico, nor Australia, nor Japan, nor South Korea, nor Malaysia, nor Iran, nor Saudi Arabia, nor Pakistan, nor Turkey, nor Greece, nor Bulgaria, nor Finland, nor Ireland, nor Bolivia, nor Ukraine, nor New Zealand, are Socialist countries.

so????????????

Oher: I am convinced that allowing profit motive to drive health care is counter-productive to the health of the USA.

Part of my reason for thinking this is that there can be no real market for health care if a monopoly, local monopoly, or partial monopoly exists on a product.
IOW, if the only way for a person to survive is to get care from a place they cannot afford, they will either try anyway and go into great debt, or die. Neither option is acceptable IMO.

Another reason is that when care is this expensive to the individual, people avoid going to get care because they cannot afford it, or even just think they cannot afford it. In either case, it reduces the overall health in the nation, which I consider a negative.

I consider it imperative that the cost of care be reduced to the point where anyone needing it can get what is needed.
The only possible ways to do this that I can see are to increase the income of everyone below a certain point significantly (subsidize people's standard of living) or to directly subsidize the care itself. Personally I prefer the latter.
I am not sure ideas like Medicare for All (M4A) go far enough, but at least they move in the right direction.

Control of health care? No. Government-run health care insurance? Definitely.

so????????????

Government run health care insurance isn't socialism. Socialism starts with government control of the means of production and goes on from there.
Many Americans believe lies told to them by people with a stake in the system as it is.

so you don't think that govt taking over healthcare is the at least the beginnings of socialism?

well, i guess fake news can fool some of the people some of the time

There is a reason we spend more on healthcare in America than anywhere else and we are the only modern country that lets private insurance companies dominate their healthcare industry...

Because it is a crap idea to let a paper pusher WHO DOES NOT PREFORM A HEALTH CARE RELATED FUNCTION, take 30% off the top of every dollar spent on healthcare..

Insurance companies are parasites and all government controls medicine does is elimate them from the picture..

That is not what happens in countries with socialized medicine any more than it happens here... we just pay 4x more for it..

no, what would happen is that the govt would itself become a bigger parasite (than ins companies)

When you “hear” these stories (inevitably on some right wing talk radio show or Fox), do you ever stop to notice that there are never any statistics in them. No discussion of costs.

No admission of the fact that this approach is universally popular in every country that has it.

Instead, you get ancedotes from right wing blogs and UK tabloids.

The government will screw up a national health care system. Bills won't get paid, patients will be left unattended on gurneys in the hallways.

thanks to Trump

b4, vets were dying... long wait times... corrupt staff

I have never encountered as such where I go, and I have been going there since 2005. You can't name me of one health operation that has not had it's problems.

Other: it'll be a cluster****.

Someday, you are going to learn how to write a decent poll. Today is not that day.

Do you bother reading what I write before you reply?

As the self-appointed spokesman for Sweden and the UK I confirm you are right about these two. Furthermore if you wish to bring on consternation, shock and fear to a Swede or an Englishman tell him that his country is about to adopt the US 'system' of health care. Cruel but enlightening.
