so far 3 out of 15 say: Yes, I like it :)

Having been to two cities in South American (Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte) and one in Panama City during Carnival AKA Mardi Gras in the US...yes I enjoy it every time. It is a crazy time to be had.

I agree completely! :peace

How is Carnival any worse than Spring Break? Fact is, I wouldn't want my teenage daughter to go to either. But adults make their own decisions. So long as I, the taxpayer, don't have to pay for it, I say do what you want.

Why not? :)

And btw: Here it is Thursday already.

The fattest of all possible Thursdays! :)

Why not? Because I'm a responsible parent. And teenagers, as we have seen repeatedly, are prone to making bad decisions. Especially where alcohol and drugs are readily available. That question says a lot about your apparent lack of parenting skills. :)

Carnival here does not just mean alcohol, as the cliché goes. But a lot more!
And there is a Carnival specially for children.

I am sorry, but you seem to have no idea.
Your posting shows your ignorance of the real Carnival or Karneval or Fasching or Fasnacht here.

Carnival in the Black Forest:

In the Black Forest regions, Carnival is more about reflecting on the simple life of historic times. While parades and street parties certainly still occur, there is an air of tradition and history. It is also the time of year when the reign of the bad spirits that bring the darkness and cold are symbolically hunted down and expelled from the area. This is why it’s common for people to dress up as demons, witches, spirits and scary animals during the Black Forest Carnival.

Why the Black Forest Carnival is Completely Unlike Any Other German Carnival

He spoke to everyone.

I'm not Catholic bashing. I just don't approve of the nastiness of carnival.

Then don't go. Nobody's forcing you to.

So it is! :)

And anyway: You cannot equal Carnival with the Catholic Church!

IDK, things might get a little spirited with all that communion wine ;)

Today is "Carnival Sunday".
And I am going to the Black Forest to meet the "Carnival Witches" or Fasnachts-Hexen there.
And: Wine & Witches go together there:

The point where the Black Forest meets the Rhine Valley is also the place where the Rebland wine region sprawls around the town of Kappelrodeck, and where the Dasenstein soars up: Centuries ago, a beautiful damsel, the daughter of Rodeck Castle’s owner, fell in love with a poor farmer’s son. This angered the lord of the castle so much that he disowned his daughter. As the farmer’s son now wanted nothing more to do with her, she retreated to the Dasenstein, where she lived in a cave and planted grapevines. As she often played tricks on people, she became known as the Hex vom Dasenstein (“witch of the Dasenstein”) –

Now Carnival has started again - as always on November 11th.

How is it with you? :)

I notice you display the German flag so I guess I can assume you are in Germany. Having been to Oktoberfest in Munich at the Hirschgarten (world's larges Beer Garden) and drinking some really good beer and eating swine-hoffen I can say I would go back if I could just to watch the women bar maids with six to eight stein of beer propped up on the breast (the bigger the breast the more steins). One of best celebrations I have ever been too. Well maybe equal to the South American Carnival in Rio.

That is true. But I did not display my Black-Red-Gold in purpose - it seems that it was automatically given to me.
Personally I would prefer the Gold-Red-Gold of the former Grand-Duchy of Baden.

And yes, I like the Bavarian beer. I just want to add that we also have a fine beer here in Baden - and a fine wine as well. :)

And wine and beer are flowing freely during the Carnival season - though that's not the only thing about Carnival. :)
