"Based on the Bible" means NOTHING. It is NOT the Bible. It must BE THE BIBLE ITSELF to be holy scripture. Why can't you comprehend this simple fact? The Bible is not based on truth. It IS the truth. It is not based on God. It IS written by God.

You have proven nothing except a complete unwillingness to accept the fact that ONLY THE BIBLE is written by God and ONLY THE BIBLE is holy scripture.

You are just calling me a liar without proving it. I have repeatedly asked you to PROVE I AM LYING. By that I mean you have not proven no Kingdom Hall services feature the Watchtower in church and only preach the Bible itself, not some publication based on it. Until you do, YOU are the liar.

I think a few of those commandments are pretty stupid. Keep Sunday Holy? ...whatever that means. Not look at a pretty woman's ass? Not drooling, but a glance and thinking what a hot, tight ass it is? Nothing wrong with that. Hell, I see some guy with ripped abs and I think, damn, that is a good looking guy. Not sure that I want to run my tongue over those abs like I would like to with her ass, but you get the point. A good ass is something to be appreciated. And I don't believe in forgiveness... not if something is major and certainly not if the wrong doer does not accept accountability... that is just delusional stupidity by the "forgiver".

Anyway, this was a good thread.

You are welcome to come to a meeting anytime to find out for yourself...we don't just read the Bible and quote scriptures...we actually study them and learn what they mean and how we can apply them to our own lives...you would learn more about the Bible in one meeting than you would in a lifetime at church...I know because I've attended church...you evidently haven't been to a kingdom hall...

Elvira never said that the WT was Holy Scripture... YOU added that. I am starting to see a common thread in how you debate. You need to be more specific and stop adding your own stuff out of context.

She said it was based off of the Bible... and it is. She even posted some Biblical quotes to prove that it is BASED off of the Bible, what she said, not Holy Scripture, what you later added.

The problem is when you say "based on the Bible" you are saying it is not all God's Word like the Bible is. This is a fact. Do JWs know with absolute certainty none of the information in the Watchtower is opinionated in any way, that every word is factual? Do they know every word is inspired - if not written - by God Himself? Or are they reading opinion pieces about what other sinners think parts of the Bible mean? This matters a lot. You have to know nothing is an opinion to know none of the Watchtower has any lies - and have proof that all of it is factual. What I have learned is the Watchtower is not entirely Biblical.

Jesus made a stupid statement. Committing lust... whatever that means... thinking she's heart wanting to do or... isn't actually cheating or even thinking about cheating any more than Pictionary yourself throwing the game-winning touchdown as a quarterback makes you a liar. Christians live by some pretty stupid rules if you really look at it objectively.

Just because you can’t understand something doesn’t make it stupid. What he said is a pretty simply concept I’ve honestly never heard anyone struggle with until now.

There was a valid reason for Jesus' comment that you cannot deny...wrong desires usually end up in wrong deeds but if you dismiss those wrong desires early on, you can save yourself and others a lot of heartache...

"But each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin; in turn sin, when it has been carried out, brings forth death." Romans 10:10

the concept of sin is an oppressive and offensive idea that the church came up with to control people. End a story. Religion is one of the worst things to ever happen to humanity.

I was feeding my 5 month old great grand daughter a few nights ago, and the concept of 'original sin', or 'sin by proxy' as I refer to it crossed my mind. Just re-validated as to how silly such things are, and how they can adversely affect impressionable youth.
