Am I right?
It all started with the best intentions. Clinton said "let's make home ownership possible for a lot more people. Let's let everyone share in the prosperity."
And that went really wrong when financial types took advantage and lent money to pretty much anyone who wanted it.
And then in 2008 you had the crash when all those people couldn't pay back their loans.
Serious business people went in to see George Bush and said that if the government doesn't give up a trillion dollars, the economy might very well collapse and that will drag the world economy down with it.
So the banks were bailed out. That made a lot of people who had lost their jobs and homes mad since the government never bailed them out.
Then the serious business types went to see Obama and said they needed another trillion. Obama reluctantly agreed.
This made people even angrier. The Tea Party was created. The Tea Party wanted to punish the elites and they felt that the best way to do it was via the ballot box. And there were other things like racism.
But there was no collapse and the economy gradually got better.
But by then the Tea Party had taken over the repubican party.
Also facebook made organization of these groups a lot easier.
Obama wanted to pass health care reform. He tried to get republicans to sign on but the Tea Party wouldn't let republicans do so.
So Obamacare is 100% a democrat thing with no republican support. This leaves Obamacare vulnerable.
Politicians didn't realize how angry working class voters were. Some of the anger was directed at government but most of it was directed at globalization.
Trump saw this and said, "I'll do something about this globalization thing. I'll get rid of trade agreements, stop immigration, and deal with China."
Trump won.
Why other politicians didn't get what Trump got about the voters is amazing to me. Some of these politicians had been politicians for over 40 years.
