Your binary approach likely appeals to many here but I find it limiting. I'm not a fan of either ruling party. I don't belong to either party and as such there is no opposing party. Having said that in this particular upcoming presidential election I will not vote third party as I have in the past. President Donald Trump is the greatest national emergency facing the United States of America. Ruling parties be damned, I will financially support and vote for any candidate who has the best chance of beating Trump.

Other: They refuse to seriously consider addressing climate change.

This actually applies to both main parties, but republicans are more likely to claim things like "it isn't happening, or if it is, it's natural and not human-caused".

Other 2: They are corrupt (main issue) and dishonest (lesser issue). Specifically corrupt in that for decades policies beneficial to the wealthy and at best neutral (but often negative) to the lower classes have been put in place despite what the population wants and needs. Whatever the reasons for this, it is counter to what the majority of their constituents want and need, so it is corrupt and dishonest. To a large degree this is ALSO the reason they don't address climate change.

This also applies to both main parties.


Essentially I disagree with the establishment of both main parties on many issues and strategies, but am registered Democrat because so far the best chances to change anything are in their camp. IMO.

You were too specific. If someone comes up with a system that is better than what we have, great. If the government can control private health insurance companies without owning them, I am fine with that too.

I will go out on a limb with some assumption here, but I bet you vote Republican 99% of the time. If so, you do have a party, you just want to cop out on the responsibility of it. An inability to accept responsibility is the very much a Republican attribute.

I think that's generally true of Republican politicians. I think it's less true of Republican voters. Their anti-science beliefs are more likely to be based on religion.
 
I dislike the Democratic Party because:

1. Their visceral hatred for President Trump has blinded them so much that they cannot behave like grownup and rational human beings.

2. Their concentration on impeachment has wasted two years that could have been spent on truly important issues, such as healthcare, immigration, equitable taxation, etc.

Religion is one

But much of it, like many of their uninformed positions on taxes, entitlements, government spending, environmental laws, climate change etc....., is due to right wing propaganda. Faux news, sean and rush and the boys feed them this BS to protect the profits of the corporations. They give them a common enemy to blame their diminishing way of life when the reality is the cause is republican policies.

I find particularly annoying the left's attitude that they are naturally smarter than conservatives and that as liberals they have decoded the future which will be..., big surprise..., more liberal!

The lefts elitism is based upon knowledge and evidence. Where as the rights elitism is based upon willful ignorance and faith.

I mean you could get mad at Ken Jennings for saying he's the greatest Jeopardy player off all time, but while that may be a bit snobbish of him to say so the evidence clearly demonstrates he is correct. Conservatives are like some guy whose family just won a match of Family Fued walking around acting like they're smarter than Ken Jennings.

They may both come across kind of dickish, but Jennings can at least back it up while the conservative is seriously delusional.

Wrong, you have that backwards. The President's and his supporters are so consumed by visceral hatred for minorities and other religions that they cannot behave like grownup and rational human beings. Which is why we hate them.

By saying you dislike Democrats for this reason you have proven that Democrats are right to hate Republicans.

Then you're also living in a dreamlike alternate reality if you actually think Mitch McConnell would actually allow any of those important issues to be solved.

Here's a Reality Check for you. Since taking control of the House Nanci Pelosi and Democrats have passed literally hundreds of bills that would solve all of these problems all while investigating Trump. But not a single solitary one of these bills that would solve any of those problems has been taken up or discussed in anyway shape or form by the Senate because Mitch McConnell wont allow that. He's to busy helping a known traitor put judges on the bench to subvert our constitution.

Unlike Republicans Democrats in Congress can walk and chew gum at the same time. In fact, they can walk, chew bubble gum pass legislation that improves the lives of Americans and impeach a President all at once. They're pretty talented actually.

You don't get to just say that and make it true. That indicates that YOU are the one who is claiming to be smarter than you really are. What the evidence actually shows is that people with lower childhood IQs tend to become more Conservative as Adults.
