The number of migrants from African countries in Mexico who have had contact with Mexican immigration officials has increased from 460 in 2007 to more than 5,800 in 2019 The number of African migrants heading to the U.S. through Mexico has more than doubled this year — from roughly 2,700 in 2018 to 5,800 today, according to data from the federal government.That figure has been steadily rising since 2007 — the year the Mexican government began including migrants from African countries who have contact with immigration officials in their annual migration reports — when the number was 460.

African migrants face additional obstacles in terms of language and cultural barriers. They also have less access to services from legal aid organizations who do not have staff who speak the same language as the migrants.

They also face racism and discrimination because of the color of their skin. A lot of them are getting robbed, beat up and mistreated. Despite this obstacle, African migrants continue to arrive at the Mexico-Guatemala border every day and there is no sign that the flow will slow down.

They are there, and they will soon be here.

The immigration "fight" is over.

People who want to come here will eventually get into the country -- laws or no.

Some people think that it's wonderful that immigrants are coming here, legally or "without authorization."

Some people are not so enthusiastic about this development.

Both groups will get a chance to express their feelings next November.

From what I just read up on they are saving up and buying tickets into South American countries then making their way up.

On recent Saturday in Tijuana, there were 90 Cameroonians lined up to get on a waiting list to request asylum that has swelled to about 7,500 names. Also on the waiting list are Ethiopians, Eritreans, Mauritanians, Sudanese and Congolese.

Cameroonians generally fly to Ecuador because no visa is required and take about four months to reach Tijuana. They walk for days in Panama through dense forest, where they are often robbed and held in government-run camps. They come from Cameroon's English-speaking south with horrifying stories of rape, murder, and torture since late 2016 by soldiers of the country's French-speaking majority, which holds power.

Pombo, who was a teacher in Congo, learned in an internet search and by asking around that Portland is good place for migrants. He said his next step is to start rebuilding a life for himself and his family.

"I'd like to feel safe. I'd like to build a decent life," he said. "I need to start again."

The number of African migrants who entered Mexico in order to attempt to claim asylum at our southern border jumped 1500% from 2007 to the present, indicating that something or someone is telling to do it. I want to figure out who told them, and also who is paying for it. Libs would have found some other reason to nitpick the OP whether it mentioned Soros or not.

Thank you for attempting to answer the OP honestly. I have several questions about the validity of some of the author's story.

- First, the Cameroonian man complained that there is no work to be had in his native country, because English speakers are discriminated against. Then how did he come up with the several hundred dollars it would require to buy a plane ticket to Ecuador?

- The story says that the UN estimates there are 4.5 million Cameroonians just like the man they spoke with for the article, who need assistance. If we continue taking in financial migrants, what's to stop the other 4.5 million Cameroonians from coming? I'm sure they all have a story to tell that tugs at the heart strings.

- The author quoted a member of our border patrol who said he's dealing with people at our southern border from countries around the world now, not the typical Latin American migrants. Conservatives raised this issue years ago, during the War on Terrorism, and were laughed at by liberals who said it was a conspiracy theory. Now you guys admit that our southern border is in fact being used as in international route into America, and we're all supposed to be cool with it. There are still national security concerns about having a southern border which is now known worldwide as a weak spot which can easily be crossed.

- What if people who were born in Portland, Maine like the way their town is, and would rather not see it turned into an African crime zone like Minneapolis? See, you're telling Americans that they don't get a voice in all of this, and that's wrong. We have ample proof of what happens to cities with a high number of African migrants, from Malmo Sweden to Minneapolis-St Paul- they become ghettos, gang territory, violent, drug riddled. Liberals want us to ignore all of the reality, and instead focus on a few sad stories of 2 African migrants. Pombo and the Cameroonian man might make great citizens, but we've seen what happens to areas that become 20%, 30%, 40% African- they go to hell.

Americans, yourself included, are largely insular when it comes to world events unfortunately. Had you been paying attention to what's been going on in Europe, you wouldn't have such a cavalier attitude about the subject matter. Italy has swung to the right largely due to the haphazard migration of African migrants, and Germany will see its long standing Democratic socialist party (SPD) lose power within the next several years.
