Democratic Presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg told a PBS journalist that Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China is not a dictator. Presidential term limits were removed under Jinping, allowing him to serve for life as China's leader.

When China's parliament voted 2,958 to 2 to do away with presidential term limits, Time Magazine wrote:

"China’s return to strongman politics dredges up dark memories of the nation’s tribulations under Mao Zedong, whose ill-fated Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution cost tens of millions of lives. With reverence for Xi a necessary condition for career advancement, there’s very little incentive to voice differing opinions, with the lack of vigorous policy debate a real worry for continued good governance."

China: Why Xi Jinping May Have to Rule for Life | Time

Yet billionaire NYC media mogul Bloomberg doesnt seem to think that Jinping isn't a dictator.

China has several concentration camps currently in operation, some which appear from satellite imagery to contain massive crematoriums, reminiscent of Nazi Germany. The camps house Muslim and Christian minorities, as well as political dissidents. Bloomberg is simply too intelligent and well connected not to know any of this.

Saw this earlier; absolutely disgusting and disqualifying. I suspect he probably has significant financial interests that might be compromised were he to anger China.

He has no business being in the Dem primaries, nevermind being president.

Bloomberg is still a billionaire businessman, who knows that China will absolutely punish his companies if he criticizes them.

But yes, this is a craven and tragic display :(

My hunch is that Bloomberg will be the nominee, unless they can find someone with the charisma and popularity of say Barack Obama. 2020 looks to be a year in which the Dems will not be able to produce someone who truly resonates with the American people, similar to what happened to the GOP with Dole in 96, McCain in 2008, and Romney in 2012. So just like in 2016, the DNC will go with the big-money candidate. Bloomberg was the single biggest financial contributor to the DNC in 2018. He effectively owns the party.

He won't be; there's no way.

And I'm confident in Bernie, though as ever, he faces a tough, uphill battle.

I'm curious, given their similarities on the issues, why isn't the DNC and media attacking Sanders like they have Gabbard?

They're opting to ignore and minimize him this time instead, probably because people are specifically watching out for attacks against him/unfair treatment by the media, and because such attacks motivate his base while increasing his exposure.

1. In all fairness to Mayor Bloomberg, there are dictators, and then there are DICTATORS.

2. For all we know (which is very little), Xi may simply be the front man for the Chinese Communist Party, which is terrified of being overthrown by the people.

*****

3. In any case, Mayor Bloomberg will surely NOT be the Dems' candidate.

a. How dare he come in at this late date and skip most of the primaries and all of the debates?
b. How dare he think that he can buy the nomination with some slick ads?
c. How dare he show such disrespect to people who have been working so hard for the nomination, such as Senators Sanders and Warren and, yes, Vice President Biden.

4. Even if he managed to get the nomination, it is possible that many Dems who really, really, really "dislike" President Trump would actually stay home on election day in order to show their fury.

Bloomberg needs a coke, some secondhand smoke, and then a big tall glass of go away.

Bloomberg, kissing China's ass, isn't surprising. Liberals are deathly afraid of China, and don't want to rock the boat. They don't mind China ripping off the US of money and IP.

There could be worse dictatorships, but China is pretty bad. Ask the people of Hong Kong what they think.

I’d thought Lebron James delivered some memorable lines about China that were pure stupidity...

Must say...

Bloomberg went far beyond James. He made the moronic statements of Lebron seem tame by comparison.

It’s world-class stupidity. ****... he broke The Moron Meter.

Think of how screwed the Democrats are? They have no contenders... Joe is mentally feeble... Sanders and Warren moronic eco-communist sympathizers...

...Ouch!!!

Nothing about Bloomberg worries me. He is New York's problem.

Wait. I thought your side of the aisle liked dictators and concentration camps. Have y'all flip-flopped again? Or are y'all playing pick-and-choose which dictators and which atrocities you like and don't like?

Judging by his mayorship, I think it is safe to presume Bloomberg does not find the idea of a paternalistic government that can directly monitor and control the lives of its citizens without legal redress or opposition particularly offensive.

Or ask the Western Chinese Uyghurs what they think.

And with his heart condition he should really be avoiding hills...

He's been better than ever since his stent, so I doubt whether he's concerned about inclines.

Because Bloomberg has business in China quite likely. He might lean left(ish) on some issues, but in the end it's all about the Benjamins.

Or ask the Western Chinese Uyghurs what they think.

Yeah, I watched a documentary on the oppression of the Uyghars. They have it pretty bad under Chinese rule. Of course, the Tibetans don't have it any better. It's definitely a brutal dictatorship.

If Trump said it it would be okay.

But Trump didn't say it, and he's the first American elected official to stand up to China in 60 years. Xi Jinping is a dictator, and his government is violating the human rights of millions of people in China and surrounding areas. This doesn't seem to bother too many people in mainstream Republicrat land.

Some scholars believe that China executes 80,000 prisoners a year without a legitimate reason. They're killed by China for not disavowing their conscience. And the world yawns. We've entered a very dark period.

Is this some delusional reference to Trump and immigration detention centers? You need a reality check man.

Sad that Bloomberg is blowing millions of dollars on running for a position he will never obtain.

But at least his millions will pay people to be employed.
