“Hello, my baby! Hello, my darlin’! Hello, my ragtime gal!”

Love that cartoon. Most people have no idea where the frog came from.
*Send me a kiss by wire, baby, my heart's on fire! If you refuse me, honey you lose me, then you'll be left alone. Oh, baby, telephone, and I'll be your very own!*

*BURRRAP!*

 Thanks. Needed that laugh today. Forgot the long, noisy croak at the end.

Oh she is. And she’s like 60.
Some people are truly incapable of coping with the reality that not everyone values what they value. It's like they don't grasp that things of that nature are all subjective, and that there is no "right" way of seeing things.

The irony of course, is that many of these same people project that it is others who can't handle disagreement and dissent.

When I was attending OU back in the mid to late 70's, I was at the Cotton Bowl watching the annual Red River showdown. I heard a commotion behind me, turned around, and saw a guy bleeding extremely badly. Found out later he and his brother were drunk, and one had stabbed the other over a pass interception. They really do take their football seriously down in the Longhorn state.

True. It’s also ironic that she is a big Trump fan. Guess I made her angry when I posted this:

Wow. That’s bananas.

The best part is when the dude at the construction site that finds him takes the frog to his boss, and the frog does absolutely nothing, so he tries dancing himself to show his boss what the frog was doing for him alone, and the man just stares at him.

For the record, Vanderbilt is NOT Rocky Top or Tennessee. Them would be fighting words in some parts around here. Lots of UT fans don't like Vandy a whole lot - private school for rich kids, and all that... :peace

Tennessee plays Kentucky later on this evening at 7:30. UT will be in orange and white!

Thanks for pointing out Tennessee's colors. I'll make a note of that for future reference.

As a native Georgian, as a graduate of the University of Georgia, as a brother of a graduate of UT and a brother who graduated from UT Memphis, and as the godfather of a, now, man and lady who attended Vandy as did their father and uncle and I well know the difference between Vandy and Tennessee.

I remember when Vandy merged with Peabody, a teacher's college at the time. Rumor - with some merit - was, with an eye on football, it was hoped that by adding Peabody Vandy could acquire students with more athletic than academic potential. If the rumor was true the merger was not successful.

My closest friend has an undergrad degree from Vandy and a graduate degree from Emory. I still remind him from time to time that Emory has the better football team. (Emory is a well regarded university in Atlanta. The high school I attended was/is less than a mile from Emory. Emory does not have a football team.)

While posting on DP I was also having a text conversation with one of my brothers, who graduated from Chapel Hill (University of North Carolina) about Tennessee football. His wife is a graduate of Tennessee. I mistakenly posted Tennessee here rather than Vandy. Two conversations at once will do that to you from time to time.

For the record, I was a Big Orange fan all through the Fulmer years, except for when we played them. Tennessee has yet to recover from the mistake of letting Fulmer go. Having him as the AD is, I think, good for the university. However, Fulmer as AD is not the same as Fulmer as head coach. I've read there was an effort to talk Fulmer into becoming head coach once again. Fulmer, a wise, honorable and respected man turned the idea down. He's too old now. That is a shame. Honestly, after having fired him to hire Lane Kiffin I was surprised Fulmer returned to become AD years later. I do know that he has always loved Tennessee.

It was a good game. I think the Tigers really shined today. Congrats to them and their fans.
Trump received a very nice welcome. So I guess there is nothing left to discuss!

But there is ...

The baby Trump balloon got slashed and deflated outside the arena  and "Alabama’s Million Dollar Band has performed its Veterans Day halftime show facing President Trump’s box at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Typically, the band performs facing the opposite direction."

:applaud

Can you imagine explaining that one to mom?

Indeed.. The next year, or the year after that, we were enroute back to Norman after Texas beat us in a nail biter. Just north of Dallas there was Texas fan leaning over a bridge railing that crossed over I-25 razzing OU fans, and clearly poop-faced drunk/high. Found out later, he had fallen off that bridge, and was run over by traffic. Poor guy didn't survive.

Look. I enjoy football as much as the next person, but some people take it too far.

My older brother was one. When we lost to Nebraska in the 1971 'Game of the Century', on an amazing late punt return by Jonny Rogers, the poor idiot grabbed a baseball bat and smashed his brand new TV.

Soccer and Grand Prix fans are the worst.

I remember back when Lewis Hamilton won the world title in Brazil by gaining the final point he needed to beat the hometown Brazilian (Felipe Massa) for the championship on the last lap, and in the final corner of the season.

Suffice to say, the locals were not good sports about it. Thousands of them were looking for the guy who cost the local boy the championship, threatening to kill him.

Tua won't be 100%. Burrow is the real deal and he's healthy. Even with Tua at 100% LSU would still win this one. Coach O walks on water in Louisiana and LSU people have never forgiven Saban, especially when they are all liquored up. Alabama hasn't played much of anyone so far. LSU has scored fewer points but has played with more heart.

LSU by 12.

damn, f-Risky
for a guy who lives in phoenix, you sure know your sec football

Damn.

TV's were expensive then, too.

Thanks Barnacle, didn't know that.

LOL! He'd been working over time at a very hard manual labor job for months, primarily to watch that game and have a big entertainment party. When he woke up the next morning, he didn't even remember doing the deed.

I almost got uncommonly lucky on my 12 point prediction tonight. There were a few bad calls in the LSU - Alabama game. LSU was one missed pass interference call from making my 12 point spread. It was a hell of game, no matter.

Joe Burrow is the man. That kid should win the Heisman. He will never have to pay for a meal or a drink in Louisiana as long as he lives. And it dawned on me tonight that I have never seen Burrow slide. He doesn't. Or at least I've never seen him do it. Burrow crashes through defenses with the bravado of a running back until he's tackled. He's tough. I'm not taking anything away from Tua, Burrow is just fun to watch.

There are more than a couple of us rednecks living in the Phoenix area. Quite a few from NC. It is not common but not surprising to see houses with SEC and ACC football flags flying. On weekends you might also see cars flying SEC and ACC flags. PAC-12 flags? Not so much. College football doesn't have the same meaning out here. As you know, growing up in the South we didn't have big professional sports teams. High school and college teams were pretty much all we had.

I'm preaching to the choir when I tell you about college football being a way of life in the South. I'm the only one in my family who doesn't live in the South. But we talk football almost 12 months out of the year with the exception of one brother who loves UNC basketball. Although he was jazzed for a while about Mack Brown returning to UNC to coach. But I was/am always an NC State fan and never much supported the Tarholes.

There is a University of Georgia alumni association chapter here. We've been to a few functions though I haven't joined the group.

Do I miss the Southland? Yeah, I do. I like it here but I'm miss Georgia and North Carolina especially. College football keeps me connected.

And HUGE! I'm now the patriarch of four generations. We have an annual family reunion near Steamboat Springs every year at our retreat. The family just keeps growing, and the fun times are keeping up with the growth. Really looking forward to T-Day. Expecting anywhere from 60 to 70 attendees....mostly fun loving, live and let live types. Scrooges and Grinches really catch hell. and, btw, we did pass the hat and help my bro replace his TV.
