Re: Do You Believe MFA Would Not Cost Middle Class Taxpayers One Penny?

    From the OP's citation:

Warren said her plan would save American households $11 trillion in out-of-pocket healthcare spending over the next decade while imposing significant new taxes on corporations and the wealthy to help finance it.
    "significant new taxes on corporations"

What do you suppose those corporation's response to an increase in the cost of doing business will be? Nothing?

No, they are going to reduce costs where they can, and that'll also include cutting back on employees and increasing investments in automation. It's a certainty, as we've already seen it before.

Why would it be an increase if they are not paying for health insurance anymore?

I want Trump gone. But I cannot support MFA. I am way too much small government to accept this much of a major shift to central government control of healthcare.

If Warren (or Bernie) wins the nomination, I will vote for the Libertarian candidate or abstain. I thought I might be able to support Warren because of Trump, but I cannot.
If I respond to you, I feel there is something worth discussing. If I do not, you either said something trivial or too stupid to merit a response.

The Urban Institute calculated that under a single-payer plan that looks a lot like Medicare for All, costs would total $59 trillion over a decade, which would require $34 trillion in new federal spending.

Here's How Warren Finds $20.5 Trillion To Pay For 'Medicare For All' : NPR

Warren's proposal grossly underestimates the real cost of Medicare for All.

The tax hikes on the middle class would wreak havoc on the economy.

Companies don't pay taxes. The end consumer pays ALL taxes. That's Econ101.

As much as I believe that the 2018 tax cuts would stimulate capital investment, create jobs and not widen the deficit.

Warren wimped out here..... the middle class are already paying a ton for medical care, she could raise middle class taxes and still have it be a net positive for the pocketbooks of the middle class.... you raise taxes, but much less than what people are currently spending on insurance/med costs.

Wrong. The latest analyses from even LW organizations calculate the cost for Warren's "plan" to be between $3.5 trillion $5.4 trillion per year; IOW double federal spending. That money comes out of our pockets.

Re: Do You Believe MFA Would Not Cost Middle Class Taxpayers One Penny?

I have a question about Medicare for all.

I am on Medicare. I have a free union backed tie-in plan that pays ALL my costs not covered by Medicare. But if I didn't have this tie-in plan I would be paying an office visit co-pay, pay for my drugs, and then Medicare only pays 80% of everything else. No dental or eye care under Medicare. Are we talking that Medicare for everyone? I do pay a premium for Medicare each month out of my SS. Would everyone have to pay for Medicare? And foot the bill for their own drug coverage, eye coverage dental coverage, or buy an additional insurance plan to cover those costs? Since Medicare is an individual plan, would a family have to buy a separate plan for each family member, and separate tie-in plans? That could really add up fast.

And if there is a big tax increase on businesses, wouldn't that cost be passed along in the price of the product or service?

I can't get past that any massively expensive new medical plan won't mean higher costs for everyone involved. Doesn't seem logical. 2+2 still equals 4 doesn't it?
