Rather than criticize another poll, I thought it would be best to ask a straight-forward question that's predicated on furthering certain conversations.

Well gee, the first four are easy to pick as not socially acceptable on their face. (Caveat: lumping the term "jerk" together with bigot/racist when jerk is a matter of personal opinion is a stretch.)

Meanwhile, I have many friends and friendly acquaintances who have opposing views on various political subjects.

As long as we can remain amicable and agree to disagree, I have no problem associating with anyone having opposing political views.

Psychosis is a disability.

The first 3...accused or convicted?
4...matter of perception.
My friends have a right to their own opinion and I love them for it.

Does a psychopath murderer associate with anyone other than his victims?

Crazy thread

I hope i never associate with most on your list. Wouldn't do it knowingly.

As for deplorables, i try to avoid them but where i live i am surounded by them. Don't enter into political discussions with them and don't invite them to the house.

None of my friends seem to be bothered by me being a psychopathic murderer.

Your simply calling people those things as an excuse to declare them personae non gratae doesn't mean they actually are those things.

It seems like you thrive on division, as you actively seek reasons to reject people from your notions of acceptability.

That's because if they remain "friends" they won't be victims. That's where people mess up with serial killers.

Other - "customers" who do not pay my bill.

Do you have an hour or so LOL. Nah, it isn't that bad but I would add rabid environmentalists, rabid vegetarians, anti-semites, extremely negative people, PVV cheerleaders/members (rabid anti-Islamists), seriously devout christians/muslims/judeism/religious cultists, etc.

I actually didn't call anyone anything in this thread. This is a poll about your standards. Ultimately someone can be convicted of a crime who you might feel is innocent. Or someone might be deemed innocent, or remains uncharged, who you identify as guilty. This poll eliminates those complications.

Other - people are a pain in the ass to be around.

You left out communist assholes and dumb ass Liberals.

But you referenced other threads where you did, for the reason I stated.

Yeah, that was my point.

As was pointed out in one of those other threads, you self-describe as adhering to an ideology which has led to the deliberate deaths of tens of millions of the people who lived under it. Under the standards you presented in that thread and are trying to lead people to in this thread, you yourself should be shunned. Do you agree?

I simply assess the risk of associating with someone. I would associate with most of those, except the murderer for obvious reasons. Thieves and substance abusers/traffickers also make my list because it's easy to be arrested for being an accomplice. And, of course, feminists to avoid the risk of false accusations. And of course, I don't tolerate abuse. I also tend to avoid noisy people, especially loud talkers because they give me a headache.

When I was a boy in the 60's, my dad (who was always left-leaning) had a friend who was an out-and-out communist. Actually he got kicked out of the American Communist party for being too radical even for them. He was a machinist by trade but had huge trouble getting work. This was back in the days of blacklisting. Eventually he found a job in a machine shop. His boss told him he really didn't care if his workers were capitalists or communists of whatever. Just do your job well and you'll be fine.

I never forgot that. So yeah, I'll do business with communists or fascists or bigots or whatever as long as you're not advocating violence. I tolerate because I want to be tolerated.

Extraordinary and also terribly sad that the most votes so far are for refusal to associate with those of contrarian political beliefs. People who do this are cheating themselves of wonderful friendships and great love. My baby sister is a New Yorker/Salon progressive, and so is one of our lifelong closest friends. I love them so much and am content with accepting that we're doomed to disagree politically.

Sad that others would shun those with whom they disagree.

It doesn't work that way! If you act like a fawn, you'll get eaten!

Did you read the graph correctly? As of this writing there are 6 voters with ZERO votes for refusal to associate with those of contrarian political beliefs.... I think you owe us an Emily Latella "nevermind"

Whether or not people have standards for who they associate with. This is related to a conversation in another thread.

Wouldn't having standards for who they associate with be an obvious and fundamental truth about the human species?

But you referenced other threads where you did, for the reason I stated.

Sure, but while this post is related to it, it's not the focus of the question. The poll is about your standards.

As was pointed out in one of those other threads, you self-describe as adhering to an ideology which has led to the deliberate deaths of tens of millions of the people who lived under it.

I'm unaware of democratic socialism causing wide-scale death. Could you elaborate? I would be happy to discuss it.
