Better they get slaughtered than US military. One hundred years from now the land will be still be contested. The US could break up another country forcefully holding together a myriad of tribes who wish to be independent like we did in Iraq...You want another Iraq? You want US military in both Syria and Turkey for 18 years? Fighting Syria? Fighting Russia? Fighting Iran? Fighting Turkey?...And fighting their allies?
I see you are as honorable as trump is to our allies, not much at having your brother in arms back, we called them cowards and in my day and best avoided as friends.

If a genocide is allowed to happen on our watch, we need to stop it even if Turkey is the instigator of it. But going to war is misleading. All we need to do is honor our deal.

The warhawks on both sides and in the corporate media for going to war with Turkey over Syria and the Kurds. I can not recall any potential war anywhere in the world that the warhawk have not insisted we must be in - and must be in forever.

The Kurds did not fight for us. They fought for themselves and we provided weapons, troops and support for our own goals.

I oppose the US leaving American troops in Syria forever, just like I oppose us keeping troops in S. Korea forever, Iraq forever, and Afghanistan forever. I oppose the assumed truism that the United States is the police force of the world - for which for the first time in the entire history of nations we will endlessly sacrifice American lives, endlessly kill in war, and endlessly spend money on wars for the purpose of assuring no national borders on earth are every changed again - throwing our military into combat to protect everyone's border - but our own.

You?
I was willing to go along with our withdraw from areas in Syria in order to reduce our participation in combat areas across the middle east. As the situation in Syria has quickly escalated
I have rethought my position and now think there is a better way. The United States cannot sit by and watch as Turkish President Urdogan attacks Kurds in Syria. The Kurds aided our fight to defeat ISIS in the region and we cannot leave them at the mercy of Urdogan. A better option would be for the United States to use its influence with NATO member nation to pressure Turkey to spot its aggression against the Kurds immediately. If they refuse NATO needs to act in two ways. Immediately deploy a NATO force to keep the peace in Syria. This force must contain not only US forces but also other NATO members must contribute. The larger NATO countries in particular need to send troops and support materials. This peacekeeping force should include military forces, deployment of air support to maintain a safe no-fly zone and humanitarian aid. The second action that NATO nations can take is to squeeze Turkeys economy dry by implementing economic and trade sanctions against the Turkish government. This should not be a United States only action but it should be strongly encouraged by the US for all NATO countries to support this action.

I agree that the Kurds did not fight with us, they fought in front of us. We gave them weapons, and they spilled their blood so Americans did not have to spill theirs. If you think this is a good idea you may want to listen to what our soldiers are saying.

"I am ashamed for the first time in my career,” said the veteran Green Beret, who told Griffin U.S. troops were witnessing atrocities committed by invading Turkish forces. "Turkey is not doing what it agreed to. It's horrible," the soldier said. US soldier on front lines in Syria tells Fox reporter, ‘I am ashamed for the first time in my career'

Now that California Rep. Dana Rohrabacher was defeated in 2018, Rand Paul is the Kremlin's favorite US Congressman.

He visits Moscow often as a courier between Trump and Putin.

Hah, hah! Is funny 'cause is not true!

Those DAMN ANTI-VIETNAM WAR PROTESTERS demanding we abandon our S. Vietnamese allies! There is NO ONE more progressive Democrats could hate more than ANYONE who would ever demand we get out of any war.

Once we are in a war we MUST stay it in FOREVER or our soldiers will be ashamed for not having eventually died in combat - or so you claim. Besides, you figure it is soldiers who get to decide who they get to kill, how many and for how long, right?

If there are Green Berets who WANT to kill Turks, when they are done with their tour of duty they can go join Kurdish terrorists and see how that goes for them.

This will be shown to be djt's Saigon. I want out of those wars, I don't want to abandon people that died so our kids didn't have to. These Kurds we are abandoning have been guarding ISIS fighters. When they face the other way to fight the Turks, these fighters will escape and I predict that two years from now when we have a Democratic president you will be one of the posters blaming her for the resurgence of ISIS (just like claiming credit for the economic recovery of the last few years).

I don't disagree, but I fear that tactic will come too late.

This is what happens when you climb in bed with the devil. The Kurds have been one of the main terrorist groups in this region for over 40 years. They have one goal, to reestablish a homeland. The Kurds will happily align with anyone who can help them establish this homeland. The Kurds were more than willing to push out ISIS and claim that land for themselves. Turkey who has been the main victim of Kurdish terror acts is not going to let this homeland develop on their border. Turkey told Trump they are going in and Trump did the right thing by getting American Troops out of the way.

As far as the US owing them anything that is bunk. The removal of Hussein more than cleared that slate.

To me this looks much like when the US armed the Taliban to fight a common enemy. Once that fight is over, do you continue to sponsor this sort of ilk? I certainly would not want to see one of my sons die fighting for the Taliban or the Kurds either for that matter. Neither are our friend.

Sure. The land the Kurds are trying to claim currently belongs to both Syria and Turkey.

Okay, so because land belongs to someone, then the people who actually live on that land should have no say at all in the direction of that land and the people who live there?

So, you support the Chinese govt's genocide of the Uighurs, you supported the repression of the Catholics in Northern Ireland, you support the repression and genocide of the Basque and Catalan peoples (among others) in Spain and all the other conflicts that exist because asshole govts decide their power is more important than the lives of the people they govern?

You?

We can stop Turkey without going to war with them. That wasn't in your options so I didn't vote.

I'm still trying to figure out why Turkey is attacking northern Syria and that Syria seems to be allowing it to happen.

They don't have the ability to do anything about it. They are still barely existing as a state. So far as why Turkey is doing it, it's because they want to kill Kurds.

Where is the "This Is A Completely Dishonest Poll" option?

Perhaps you don't remember one of the famous graduates of this school of American use them and leave them behind...Osama bin Laden. What could possibly go wrong?

That's why the poll also includes the option of a proxy war between the USA and Turkey as an option, like the Korean and Vietnam wars.

Our military doesn't have to invade Turkey to support Russia, Iran and Kurdish insurgents. We could just have Americans killed and killing in Syria including troops of our NATO ally on their behalf for the next 50 years.

How many Americans are worth sacrificing and how many Syrian and Turk lives sacrificed on behalf of Russia and Iran?

Syria is currently fighting with Russia and the Kurds we abandoned.

So, did you want American troops with Turkish troops in Syria to try to take the Syrian troops as POWs or just start shooting at our NATO ally troops who were fighting with us in Syria?

Yes, Democrats did vote for Hilary Clinton wanting her promise to order the American military to directly attack the Russia military in Syria for WW3. Since the Democrats got us into WW1 and WW2, it is predictable they want WW3.

They'd want WW4, WW5, and WW6 too as there is no war the Democratic Party has ever not wanted, but it is unlikely anyone is left to fight another world war after the Democrat's WW3.

First, the Syrian forces are Assad's forces, and we have never fought with them. Second, Turkey is currently a member of NATO but they act as a Russian ally just as often as they support the US. Which NATO troops were fighting with us in Syria?

And the best part is after the Dims get us into a war, they pound their chests and boast about how they make the economy strong. That has always been the Democrat solution to bolster the economy. Just start a war.

A war with Turkey is almost automatically a WWIII with Russia
