Who Won Debate #3

Who Won Debate #3

  • Total voters
    39
  • Poll closed .
Legally yes, does he have the tactile strength to physically posses one probably not

I don't know if RF would pass a background check.

Biden had his strongest and best performance. He has was detailed and forceful.

Warren was the most consistent both last night in all her replies and in all her appearances and continues to shine.

O'Rourke was the guy who did himself the most good and is emerging as the person out front on progressive gun policy.

Harris was at times very good - and at times condescending and swarmy so I think she did not help0 nor hurt himself.

Yang pulled a stunt with the give way and it hurts the dignity of someone running for our highest office. He really hurt himself with that and his failed joke about Asian doctors.

But the big loser was Castro attacking Biden and coming off as just plain rude and wrong. Bye bye to the potential veep slot.

Harris looked like she had too many drinks.

Thanks Mods!!!! For the poll!!!! :applaud:rock:thumbs::cheers:

Mayor Pete had his good moments as well. He's a long shot from being the front runner, but I think Warren, Biden, and Sanders would be smart to select him as VP. He's very well spoken and quick thinking.

It's unfortunate, and I may be totally wrong, but I think his chances are next to null for no other reason than his being gay.
I just think America is too prejudiced for that yet.

I think if he was straight, he'd be doing better in the polls. (again - I could be wrong)

I thought he did a damn good job last night.

Calling that a "death threat" is anything but forceful

I do not follow you.

Gun nuts hate Beto. Got it loud and clear. And you have the right to hate him. I am sure the one thing you will all fixate on this morning is is Hell yes they are going to take your AR15. No doubt about it.

That is forceful. That is brave. That is basically taking himself out of the VEEP consideration while at the same time placing a big target on his own chest.

We can debate the wisdom of that but him being a whiny ***** is just ridiculous as he is being the opposite.

I do not follow you.

Me neither, but lets do two things here:

1) try not to let this thread devolve into a "gun" thing

2) try not to get bogged down in a fight with somebody who is obviously a Trump supporter

Plenty of other threads around here for that.

This thread is for anyone who wishes to discuss who "won" or looked good last night.

Okay? :party

Snide and insulting HE MAN MACHO MAN remarks like that are just ridiculous.

You have a good point.

If I was to pick who I think came across as the winner (based only on the first two hours of the debate) I think Elizabeth Warren won.

In my opinion, her performance made me want to see more of what she's got.

If they cut the next debate down to five people, I hope she's one of the five who remains.

I may not agree with everything she says or stands for, but that's true of all of them.

I just think last night she did the best to pique my interest as a serious contender.

I have to say Biden won, mostly because he did much better than the last 2 debates. I think he appeared sufficiently moderate, which will help him.

Didn't see it but just read the WAPO minute by minute summary.
This from Biden was special ...
"@ 51 minutes: Biden gets the criminal justice reform question and appears to stumble. “Nobody should be in jail for a nonviolent crime,”."
Was there some context that could be wrapped around that to make it sound less a product of senility?

Too many people on the stage. Needs to be cut in half.

The DNC has scheduled the next debate for Tuesday October 15th, two successive nights ... location, as yet, undisclosed. The qualification criteria remains unchanged. Qualifiers at this point include the 10 from debate #3 plus Tom Steyer.

The requirements for October's debate are the same as for the third: Candidates need to have 130,000 unique donors (including a minimum of 400 individual donors per state in at least 20 states) and at least 2 percent support in four qualifying polls.

When Is the Next Democratic Debate? Schedule, Requirements and Qualified Candidates

IMO, Biden remains the front runner. Beto gained some ground with his anti-machine gun plea. Amy, known privately to rage with her staff, came off a bit more appealing than usual. Harris had an off night. Bernie needs to do the impossible by talking less so his throat heals. Pete, brilliant guy, held his own. So did Warren. Yang holds on to his outside lane and adds a comedic element. Castro's attack on Biden as a dowdy, forgetful old man failed bigly.

Booker, my favorite, can hold on to a sliver of hope the eventual winner picks him as a running mate!

What did he stumble and fumble on? In my view, he commanded the stage and was able to aggressively go after the other opponents.

Yes, Biden is old. Everybody knows that. Someday you'll be old as well.

Biden strikes me like Ron Paul back in the day. If you give them a bit more time, they say things that make sense vs those who are quick with their rehearsed smack. I found some on that stage just as insulting as Trump, but must admit that I didn't watch the entire thing.

I have a question.

For the swing voters, those who truly elect the president, is Biden the best choice?

A died in the wool, classic example of a career politician who is rich, old, male, and white. So basically a return to exactly where we were right up until Trump was elected?

Is the swing voter going to let the pendulum swing right back to the same-old-same-old?

They need less people and more time to answer a question. I get it, Biden is old (er) and not as quick witted as the others, but that doesn't mean he doesn't know his stuff.

Being an insulting, condescending, all-out douche-bag has proven to get at least one man elected president, it's not a potential strategy that should be completely tossed aside if one truly wants to win bad enough. For those struggling to make a mark, it's a last ditch effort to see what might happen I suppose.

But they are running on being 'different', above the fray. No?

Are any politicians "above the fray"?

As the bar keeps getting lower and lower, and currently the POTUS is the one lowering it by giant leaps and bounds every day, I'm not surprised at some less popular candidates throwing caution and decorum to the wind. As I said, it worked quite well for one dude.

If they think it is ok, they are the hypocrites.
