Is 12,000 lies by Donald Trump fact or fiction?

True or Bull****?

I don't know... but common sense and a little math means that in 950 days he averages 8 lies a day... that is 7 days a week.

Now do the counters record different lies or can a lie be the same one twelve thousand times? Or just a mistake?

I would like to see what people have to say about 8 lies a day when we have Trump Haters here that post nothing like that about him... from both sides actually, it would be great... it is possible that 12,000 is true... but it seems ridiculously unrealistic. I mean, 8 lies a day, everyday? He doesn't even make that many statements, Tweets, conferences, etc. Does he?

At one point the Washington Post said that Trump was making 20 false statements a day. 20?

They kept lists with links, at least through the first thousand or two. I have no doubt someone willing to put the effort into their own thread would be able to find it.

12,000 instances of lies or BS, yeah. And what difference does it make whether or not Trump actually knows what he is saying is false? He still says it with the intent that it be believed over anything else.

I mean, if I were really dedicated to the idea, I would consider lying eight times in a single day pretty easy.

1. I'm a virgin.
2. I bat 400.
3. I've never had a drink of alcohol.
4. I got a perfect SAT score.
5. 100% of Republicans are pedophiles.
6. Alaska is located in Texas.
7. I live in the biggest house in my neighborhood.
8. My neighborhood is located on the moon.

It took me about a minute to come up with those, so I think the claim that Trump makes eight false statements per day is probably pretty conservative.

Boooo. No poll.

Shouldn't the lies be political in nature?

And Lake Alaska IS IN TEXAS! ;)

My interest is not in researching this... but what people's opinions are about this and why...

Trump isn't only an ordinary run-of-the mill liar, he's a compulsive, serial liar. He can't stop himself, it's second nature to him. He would lie about what color tie he was wearing if asked during an interview.

Moot. A president that lied 100 times in public is a liar and disqualified for the office. No point quibbling over the number. It surely is way, way over 100.

Trump has no regard for the truth; which makes him unfit to be President.

Not at all... I think that he lies a lot, more than any other President, probably. But 12,000 lies in 950 days?

Are you afraid to answer?

Where did you get the number 100?

So nothing on the actual number... just "Trump lies" ? All Presidents lie...

So, looks like we're going to have to retroactively impeach about every living ex-president.

This is not normal. No president has had such a reckless disregard for the truth as Trump. There is no "whataboutism" here.

No, the history books will do Trump and aptly ridicule the fools that normalized this. We can let your grand children put this in perspective.

Answer? Like in the fifty(+/-) other "Trump lied . . ." threads? Anyway, I'll leave the thread so you guys can have your Trump Derangement Anonymous meeting.

So nothing on the actual number... just "Trump lies" ? All Presidents lie...

You know what? His lies have been tracked for over three years and well documented. If you want to know the specific number (in the thousands) or the specific lie, I recommend 'Google'. It's a really cool tool used to find out things you're wondering about. Try it.

The odds of it being exactly 12,000 lies (no matter how you count them or as of what specific date) are slim. On that basis alone, I vote no - it is likely to be either more or less but not exactly 12,000 lies.

The 1200 number maybe be inaccurate but i wouldn't quite call it fiction or "bull****"

The problem with trump is, he is a serial liar and he is in constant "sells mode" (which is lying). Then when it comes to government/world knowledge he is a moron so he says things that are factually wrong that he THINKS are true or he has no clue its not true so those ones arent lies its just pure ignorance. (which is just as bad or worse based on his delivery and being president)

I dont know what the number of lies/ignorance truly is BUT does it matter? The main point is, its EASILY, hands down without question, the most on avg spewed by a president in my life time. Even HONEST and NORMAL Trump supporters admit that.

I haven't the faintest idea. During the primaries, even before when I discovered Trump would say one thing one day, the opposite the next and then deny saying anything at all on the third. I basically put him on ignore. Having said this, I have little doubt that Trump thinks he is stating the truth when he says something. He just says or tweets anything that pops into his head, fact, fiction or neither.

Obama was disqualified?

If there were only 0 and 12,000 to choose from, I would be in the 12,000 camp!

Here's a few example:Aug 04 2019
“The Media has a big responsibility to life and safety in our Country. Fake News has contributed greatly to the anger and rage that has built up over many years. News coverage has got to start being fair, balanced and unbiased, or these terrible problems will only get worse!”

Aug 04 2019
“Mental illness and hatred pulls the trigger, not the gun.

Aug 01 2019
“We've been there for 19 years. We're really serving as policemen. We could win Afghanistan in two days or three days or four days, if we wanted. But I'm not looking to kill 10 million people.”

So, opinions the left disagree with , or mistakes with numbers and dates etc are all considered lies by them. If he mis-speaks , forgets something and says it wrong, takes a guess at something, anything. Unless it's exactly correct, they'll call it a lie. It doesn't matter. Voters on both sides know what they're trying to do.

There are many repeats in the count.

The Washington Post even came up with a special award inspired by Trump for repeating his lies long after they've been publicized as being factually incorrect. They called it the Bottomless Pinocchio -- for repeating a three-Pinocchio or four-Pinocchio fabrication at least 20 times. I don't know how often they awarded it but the point is that, yes, his falsehood count includes repeats. Some would argue repeated falsehoods are at least as bad as unique ones since continuing to repeat them after they have been fact-checked undermines claims that Trump doesn't know they're false.

Here's another example of what they call a "lie". And it counts as 159 lies. It's pretty apparent what they are trying to do. :Aug 01 2019
“We're trying to have a good relationship [with Russia]. It’s very hard, in light of the phony witch hunt, which is now dead. ”
Repeated 159 times:
