Really, how many? Not very many at all compared to the number of Republicans still embracing those same laws.

I can't put a number to it. I don't keep a diary of who says what, and I'm sure you don't either. I can merely tell you I live in a heavily democratic state and many Dem's I know are dismissive and actually Homophobic(I bear in mind, some of them may be gay). My point is merely that the idea of denigrating the whole of President Trump or any other Republican, to cure a societal problem for Gays is a pipe dream.

Don't play dumb. You know damned well I refer to this orange monster's rule.

Orange Monster? Have you Dad check under the bed, the closet? Oh, but if you are somehow alluding to the President of the United States, the monsters you should really fear are the real world monsters he is slaying daily!

Not my poll, but can't help wondering who wants or needs your forgiveness! A small slice of appreciation for President Trump's accomplishments would be nice!

You have a pleasant evening.

If you have the self proclaimed ability to point at one group and blame them for mistreatment of gays, you surely have a romantic and convenient view. Acceptance of homosexuality as a legitimate lifestyle was and still is a societal decision. If you think that the Democratic Party is squeaky clean on the issue, I am here to tell you that there are very many Democrats who still embrace laws forbidding sodomy. Do you dare disagree? If not, stop throwing mud at Republicans.
It is society and not a particular party whose thinking must be changed - or not.
Regards,
CP
I don't know how you define this 'very many Dems' to which you refer, but we can all figure out about how many there might be with some recent poll numbers. I didn't know they even polled on this question anymore. Its is just about the only reliable evidence you might have. Got some to share with a link?

Friend, are you looking for s site that will validate me or you? Both are available, given the search criterion. I don't write of a poll(remember how Clinton beat Trump?).I write from experience and social contact.
If you can substantiate that all Republican's or Democrats are of one cloth, do so. My point is that there are differing opinions in both parties. To vote one or the other for an assumed or sold platform is to be suckered by the best ad's.
Hopefully, you and I can see the broader picture.

I am not saying every Democrat is pro LGBTQ.

I am saying that they have been the inclusive party and not the Republicans in any real way.

The republicans as a party agenda made Anti-Gay rights a major part of their platform.

Mike Pence (Vice President) has actually called "homosexuality a crime against man, nature and god."

As a senator he argued that "same-sex marriage is a sign of societal collapse.”

As governor of Indiana, he proudly signed legislation that legalized discrimination against LGBTQ individuals.

Many gay rights individuals remember the Reagan administration demonized people with AIDS in that era, voted against efforts to stem the epidemic and pushed legislation that was discriminatory against LGBTQ people.

Over the years, the Republican party twice backed a federal constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage forever, voted against preventing anti-LGBTQ discrimination in employment and voted against legislation extending hate crime coverage to LGBTQ community.

During that same period Democrats voted down, filibustered and rallied against the Republican agenda and openly supported the LGBTQ community in their party platform.

I'm sure there are Republicans who accept homosexuality as you say as "legitimate", just not as many as Democrats.

If you attend a Democratic meeting you don't have a need for a designation like Log Cabin members, they are just Democrats.

I certainly respect VP Pence's right to believe as he will. Like it or not, it is still his right to believe as he chooses. My concern is that the Gay community is so focused on the Biblical interpretation of some is a blinder to a much bigger picture. If the Republican party has in some way offended that group, well, it is what it is. On the other hand, for the Democratic party to inveigh and pander to any particular life choice is to use those folk for immediate gain. If you think otherwise, watch the Republicans' ticket after a loss!
My friend, we are all being sorted, weighed and counted for vote value. The Democratic Party isn't a Godsend. They are merely throwing as broad a net as they can. Gay. straight, whatever, Congress and the Supreme Court are our fall back.
Please remember, neither party called us to our senses. it was a broader social question of what in the world are we thinking?

When presidential candidates such as Barry Goldwater said that "Gays should be lined up and shot" that says volumes about the party he represented.

The very elderly Mr. Goldwater did come out before his death to say that he was "wrong" and walked (rode) in a gay pride parade here in Phoenix to show his support.

He even attended some Democratic rallies without changing his party affiliation.

In the 2018 midterms which some have called the rainbow wave, as a record number of LGBTQ democratic candidates got elected in races across the country ― over 150 at last count.

Minnesota, Rep. Jason Lewis, a Republican who on the stump equated gay couples with rapists, lost his House seat to Democrat Angie Craig ― the first lesbian mom elected to Congress.

In another case, openly bisexual California Democrat Katie Hill defeated Republican House member Steve Knight, who supported Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage in California, and who had voted against banning “ex-gay” therapy.

The Democrats made be casting a wide net and it is rainbow colored....

Strawman, and a stupid one. So childish.

My concern is that the Gay community...

Of course. Capital even, like it's an ethnic group.

Barry Goldwater?!?! Wow! you are really peeling back time. I will simply say this..there are no more gay rights to be attained in any state I know of. So to hold Senator Goldwater as an indicator of some current question of gay people rights; no not rights; acceptance as fiber of society today is to hole a grudge against a political party. You certainly know that Governor Wallace was a Democrat! Please get over the party love, and vote as a person would, regardless the choice of life partner. I am a Republicans and an advocate of rights regardless of sexual orientation.
That being written, I will vote to re-elect President Trump.

I will simply say that's stupid. First, rights on paper does not mean equal opportunity. Black people having rights observed didn't end racism. That's the main reason your statement is stupid. But also, I don't think gays can adopt in every state. Gays are not included in anti discrimination law. There are other ways that gays are not treated as equals, by law.

In sum, your homophobic apologetic bull**** is as repulsive as ignorant.

Of course, given that there are approximately 44 million registered Dems in this country I can imagine every single view in the imagination of mankind can be found for some proponents, including a belief in the Loch Ness Monster, Aliens from outer space as the builders of the pyramids, and that plants should be harvested in pain free way. But it is quite a stretch to say that there is any real difference of opinion on those issues. Most recent polling says that 88% of democrat and democrat leaning support the right of gays to marry each other, so I would hazard to say a infinitely miniscule and statistically completely meaningless percentage want to illegalize homosexuality anymore. But it is technically true that opinions likely differ on both the existence of the Loch Ness and banning homosexual conduct but no, Dems do not 'disagree' on the right of adult gay men and women to have sex with their own gender.

Strawman? You wrote that...what does it mean to you? How did I set that up? You find respecting another's view as phony? You must have some snakes in your head.
I capitalized Gay so as to differentiate between a noun and and a verb. Still, you had reason to attack. What was your reason?

You capitalize nouns? What kind of stupid BS is that. You capitalized gay just like racists capitalize black. To pretend it's an ethnic group, an "other", not us. It's homophobic crap and you do not capitalize nouns, that's a ludicrous lie.

Oh friend, you are so very wrong about that. There ae Southern, Northern, Mid-western, and west coast Dem's/Repub's. Please, don't turn over the future of Gay folk to a flashy, lying smile from any party. If you believe that Democrats care about the sexual proclivity of any voter, and are more Gay friendly, you are being used!

In many states you can be fired without recourse for being gay.

There are still Interpretations of sexuality that make filling a hate crime virtually impossible.

It is true Wallace was a Democrat but his view conflicted with the parties push to bring civil rights to America and President Johnson stomped on him.

Johnson deployed the governors own national guard with orders to arrest Wallace if he actually prevented a non-white student from entering a school.

Wallace dithered between being an independent and a democrat during his numerous runs for presidential office.

Wallace like Goldwater in his final years admitted he was "wrong" and met with civil rights leaders of color to ask for their forgiveness.

You declaring your a republican, no shocker there.

You voting for Trump, again no big shock. (You have the right and choice.)

OMG, I didn't mean you were personally apologizing for something. Wtf. How can you debate without understanding apologism. I don't think one can. I'm not sure one can graduate elementary school without some understanding of apologism.

That level of knowledge makes interaction pointless. Good day.

BS? You have issues beyond capitalizing nouns. I tried to explain why I capitalized Gay. If that somehow offended you, then I can't help you. Mine was a simple reply, yours was a manure mixture designed to paint me as some sort of bigot. I am not, but if you feel have made some sort of point, go with it. I don't care.
I am trying to enlighten, not dazzle

Oh yeah, it's me. Next you're gonna ask if I'm gay.

You're trying to make me laugh.

You don't know what apologetics is. You couldn't enlighten. Who are you kidding?

Yeah. I thought you could use some comedy relief after the vitriolic tirades you have written. The acid test, is what you brought forth...I never once asked if you are Gay. That, my friend is the difference between us. I don't even care, and am still a Republican!

You should care. People are treated unfairly. They're ostracized by friends and family. Children are kicked out of households. It's a ****ing issue. Putting your head in the sand isn't helping anyone.

ECO, I begin to get where you are coming from. I wish you would do that for me. My point of uncaring began and ended with our correspondence. I was trying to make the point when you suggested my next question would be of your orientation. I meant to say, and I still mean to say, I don't care about that. I do have compassion for those who have been ostracized for their sexual orientation or abused for any reason!
I hope you get me and will count me as a friend and a, just by the way, Republican.

Being gay and politically active since 1980, you'd be better off asking me how political activism works in the two party system, then trying to tell me. The political position of 'gay folk' has been scaling upward and improving since 1972. Our civil rights movement has probably accomplished more, and done it faster than any other civil rights struggle in history so we do not need you to tell us who our allies ought to be, or who our allies ought not to be.

You aren't doing a very good job of sowing division when you don't even know what political doubts or worries exist , to use as decent seeds. You have to improve your game.
