Is Serena Classless?

Is Serena Classless

The crowd was booing because Serena got hosed. It was actually Serena who asked the crowd to stop booing and applaud the winner. Serena never said she lost because of the umpire. But it certainly did not help.

edited to add: I have seen male players calling the umps way much worse names, and often, they are not penalized.

Serena's own coach admitted that they cheated all the while Serena is screaming at the empire about how he is a liar and a thief. She never admitted as her own coach Did that they cheated. He gave her signals he admitted it full stop how can any person ellipses how can you... sit there and deny these facts?

I have seen her being gracious on numerous occasions. Yes, even when she lost. If she is such a dick, how come she is one of the most popular players in the locker room?

You don't know about people who are fake and how they can get away with things and influence things and especially if they are the number one person at their profession in the entire world other people might say they were great or that they got along with them just to appease that Tyrant. That isn't the possibility. That couldn't even begin to be true.? Question mark of course it could be true we all know it could be true

Serena has had multiple meltdowns at the US Open over the years, always when she is losing in a late round match. This last one, last year, was disgusting though. She completely ruined the joy of the winner, younger Naomi Osaka. Serena made the entire thing about herself... she claimed sexism, in fact. Men get warnings and in fact a year earlier a man was banned from two Grand Slam tournaments for poor behavior.

Serena whined about "being a mother" as if this has anything to do with cheating... her coach ADMITTED that he coached her in that match. She whined that she is picked on and would never be rude... she threatened to shove the ball down the throat of the line judge in 2011 for making the foot fault call. Serena then, at this last tournament, says, " "I don’t want to be rude. She played well. Let’s make this the best moment we can, let’s not boo any more,” said Williams. Then it was Osaka’s turn, and she looked more devastated than delighted. She even wound up apologising for having beaten the crowd’s favourite in scenes that surely have little precedent in this or any other sport.

She played well? Poor Naomi was crying about not giving the fans what they wanted... a Serena win.

This is kinda old but they just did the Serena vs the Umpire on ESPN so it bugged me all over again...

I liked her more when she was able to better compose herself, if that's what you're asking?

The crowd was booing because it was a USA crowd.

No way. Absolutely not. I have been seen the NY crowd boo a winner because she/he is not American. NEVER. They were booing because they thought Serena got hosed. She told the to stop.

Naomi was the one who got hosed. Her first grand slam win and all the focus is on the disgraceful actions of Serena and her coach who was cheating. Yea she told the crowd to stop booing, big deal. Classless. You can list all the excuses you want, but that is all they are. She acted quite poorly and that is a fact.

We obviously saw things differently.

It means that there is no sexism full stop men get in fractions at Triple the rate that women do full stop if there were sexism men would not be getting nearly as many if as many in fractions that women do. If there was sexism women we getting way more in fractions than men do. But that is not the case full stop the fact is man or infracted more than women. That means that there is no sexism full stop that means people arguing with there is sexism have a genders or are liars.

You quoted me, but you addresses NOTHING of what I said. My point is absolutely valid -- men do more **** because they are men.

Coaching in tennis is sometimes "against the rules." But it's one of those rules in which the umps are usually quite lenient. To call it in the finals is pretty disgraceful, IMO. I remember watching the mens' final the next day, and, on a few instances, obvious coaching happened with Djokevic. He did not get called.

The crowd wasn't booing Naomi. They were booing the actions of the chair umpire even though he was right. However if this was one of the other grand slams they would have been booing Serena for being an ass. We sure did see things differently.

The time that Serena truly acted like an ass when she lost to Clijsters, she got booed then. I love the fan who yelled "Yeah you did!" after Serena said "I never said I'd kill her!" There goes your theory!

What theory? Since you know so much why was the crowd booing?

I agree that the referee was right. Serena in this situation was acting like a petulant class A a-hole when she went off on the referee. It is sad that it is now the referee who has to be "removed from the matches" in which Serena is playing. If that were up to me, I would switch Serena to play the highest ranked player in the tournament and not move the referee from the match. But that is not possible I would think so sadly the referee has to be removed from potential finals matches due to Serena's childish explosion from last year.

And they get infractions more because of it... so no sexism. I don't care if you talked about that or not... that is the only relevant thing to this issue.

They interviewed lots of tennis umpires and the vast consensus was that the Ump Ramos handled the entire situation well... that said, it was a warning that she was called for... then she decided to smash her racket, something men get called for a ton, and then she decided to scream at the umpire and insult him... those are all infractions. She is responsible for her own actions. It is not sexist. It is not racist. It is not because she is a mother... whatever the **** that point was supposed to be about.

Some grudges last a long long time.

Amen. I crossed it up with a fellow (tennis) team captain (from a very swanky club) years ago over being late for a match. She cursed me at the time, then during the team match when she was on an adjacent court. In all my years of playing tennis and being in a male-dominated field/working construction sites...I'd never been called those names to my face/in public.

But payback is such a bee-atche. They lost all three lines and her challenge to our league coordinator (who told me it was about time someone enforced the timing rules...everyone complained but never did anything about it).

To this day, I refuse to acknowledge her when our paths sometimes cross and I've told my (subsequent) captains that I'll never be "available" for a match in which she might be my opponent because I would refuse to walk on-court with her and/or shake her hand.

But I can say this: matches in our very tennis-friendly area...run on-time. Word gets around.

Lets go McNally!

Serena is close to coming off the rails.

She showed why she wins so much. She hit a third gear in that second set and a fourth one in the third. I have watched Caty play since she was a MS kid. She has lots of tools, but her foot speed is not world class. And Serena picked up on that despite making lots of errors.

She is 17, made a great showing. A couple of points and Serena would have been screaming about something. The yells after a winning shot I don't care for either. McNally showed poise and class. Plenty of time to develop. Be interesting to see how Serena would react to someone who behaves that way after a winning shot. I can't stand her.

I never said she was one of my favorites but she is the GOAT. We all know that

Being a classless GOAT is not something to be proud of...

It is easy to get overly hyped mentally when you are a very competitive person like Serena. John Mcenroe was also much like this. While I don't condone this type of behavior, you see examples of this all the time in sports. It is not only the athletes, I have seen numerous coaches who were out of control. It is not unique to Serena.

I think her place in tennis and athletic history is assured despite your displeasure
