You're right. But since they make so little usually, the amount in taxes they pay doesn't offset their cost. And that suggests another point. To get American workers to do those jobs the employer would have to pay them a much higher wage. Imagine if there were NO illegal immigrants, and employers had to hire American workers. American won't do hard manual work for minimum wage. So the employers would have to pay lots better. In turn, those Americans would pay much more in those taxes you value so much. And we wouldn't need a discussion on raising the minimum wage.
 
illegal immigrants dont get s--t so quit saying it the best they can get is emergency medical help that is all....

My understanding is that food stamps can be obtained by working poor people. I don’t think legal, working immigrants should be barred from all assistance. Sometimes honest people need a little help.

My family applied for assistance once. I don’t want to get personal, but my father was outside the US. My mom had four kids, and one was very very ill. Went to ER that day, and finally the child collapsed and stopped breathing. My mom was alone in America and scared. One of her kids nearly died. My mom said she went to an office in the ER, and applied for assistance. She said she was treated like total crap by the woman working in that office. I don’t know if that were necessary. I don’t know why that woman lacked empathy as a human being, was it because my mom wasn’t American? My mom is an honest person. All her kids grew up and went to college.

Personally speaking, if an immigrant family needs help, they shouldn’t be barred from receiving it.

This isn’t draining the swamp. This is scapegoating.

"State and local governments incur costs for providing services to unauthorized immigrants and have limited options for avoiding or minimizing those costs";
"The amount that state and local governments spend on services for unauthorized immigrants represents a small percentage of the total amount spent by those governments to provide such services to residents in their jurisdictions";
"The tax revenues that unauthorized immigrants generate for state and local governments do not offset the total cost of services provided to those immigrants"; and

Keep drinking the Kool-aid but here are the facts.
In 2013, Robert Rector and Jason Richwine of The Heritage Foundation released a study concluding that as of 2010, the "average unlawful immigrant household" had a net deficit (benefits received minus taxes paid) of $14,387 per household.

What part of illegal do you people not understand? They come here and have a butt load of baby's that they can't afford and then we have to pay for it? How about the single American mother who gets a raise up to a measley 16/hr and gets cut off food stamps. Should she suffer because that money is now going to people who shouldn't be here in the first place?

It's pretty simple. No benefits for illegals. Why encourage them to come here and stay here?

The Trump EO that is the discussion topic has nothing to do with illegal immigrants. Illegal Immigrants are not being given food stamps. This EO reduces the flexibility states previously had to design their own criteria for determining eligibility for assistance. I reduces the amount of aid to poor Americans and to immigrants in the US legally. NO ILLEGAL ALIEN IS GETTING FOOD STAMPS.But 3M American citizens and legal immigrants will lose a significant part of their aid.

Neither should non-citizen legal immigrants. Leave that to liberal charitable organizations, until which time they become naturalized citizens.

Say I made the pronouncement that if anyone breaks into your house, they can have free food and shelter for as long as they want. What would happen? Would the number of people trying to break into your house increase or decrease?

A better approach is not make any promises of freebies, so you can discourage people from breaking the law in exchange for a free ride; ends justifies the means. By making no such promise, those who still come, for other reasons, besides freebies, will be helped, but below the radar.

The Democrat approach is to get people to sell their souls for the promise of freebies. Once they sell their souls, the Democrat own them. The free lunch promise is more like a fishing lure, that will become a hook in the mouth. This lure creates the impression of a generous socialist paradise. But after they sell their souls, they get to live in crime infested ghetto area, ruled by the Democrats. It is like Hotel California, you can check out any time you want, but you can never leave; generations of poverty.

Trump would prefer immigrants be more self sufficient so they do not have to sell their souls. They get to live the dream and are not confined to the Democrat run ghettos; sanctuary prisoners.

Yes I agree with this rule. Our government is supposed to be keeping these people out and deporting them, so no illegal alien should even be allowed to walk into government office to get benefits.

This ruling has nothing to do with illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants are not getting food stamps.

This ruling cuts food stamps and other aid to citizens, American citizens, born-in-the-USA American-citizens, not only that most of them are working and white and they pay taxes.

It also effects legal immigrants. Immigrants that have all the legal paper work that says they have a right to be here. Not only do they have the right to be here they are legally working here and paying their taxes just like the born here American citizens.

The Trump EO cuts food stamps and other aid to the working poor that are born here American citizens and legal immigrants that have a right be in and work in the US and they pay taxes. They are not getting free food, they have paid their taxes they should be helped when they need it.

You've got it backwords, give them the free meal, but register them as a public charge which disqualifies them for many immigration benefits.

How does taking food aid away from the working poor keep them out of poverty? Tell us again how keeping people poor eliminates ghettos, crime and generations of poverty. While you are at it tell us who is keeping the working class poor by maintaining the minimum wage at $7.25/hour($15,000/year). I'll give you a hint. It isn't the Democrats.
 
There is no such thing as "free food." There is no 'free" anything.

Someone has to pay for it one way or another.

And the only people getting food and rent paid for by the taxpayers should be the disabled who can not work. Anyone who has a job should be able to afford food, shelter, transportation, clothing, and medical care.

All the so called "welfare" programs do is subsidize employers who don't pay their employees a living wage.

They are human beings, many of which are hungry babies or little toddlers. I'd rather feed them than judge them because I could never turn my back on anyone that is hungry, especially a child. That's about as cold hearted and callous of a thought process imaginable. Only the lowest of the low would refuse to feed a child under any circumstances. That type of thinking is cut from the same cloth as a sociopath.

People are starving all over the world.

Should we give food stamps to every hungry person in the world, put the entire human race on American welfare? Why is a starving person in Africa less human that an African illegally in the USA starving?

Of course, food stamps are more than keeping someone from starving in the USA. Rather, for nearly all, it is supplemental income and not avoiding starvation.

Correct as far as I know. The pettiness of the Trump administration on full display. Say you come here legally and get hit by a guy who runs a red light. Lose your job, have little money, get Medicaid... so we’ll make it harder for you to become a resident or citizen. I presume Trump might make exceptions for Norwegians.

Why doesn’t Trump and Steve Miller just come out and say they hate immigrants of any kind, and see their mission in life to make them as miserable as possible, and announce they are forming a new Know-Nothing party? It will make interpretations of their actions so much easier, especially for the right.
