Excuse me, If I have worked for them, I would have directly posted their link for a clear info. I'm no one. I just read the news and wanted opinions of everyone. It seems U are a great supporter of Trump, whatever he says it is right. I request you not to deviate the discussion

1. Trump is a racist.
2. That statement is not objectively racist. For example, it is completely plausible that Trump had heard at some time the data point that Ilhan Omar was born in Somalia, and is simply dumb enough to have applied "all these crazy new democrat women are therefore from somewhere not America" logic to the entire bunch. It's entirely possible that he took a look at them and said "Yup, all brown", but that is not required by his statement.

Never attribute blanketly to malice, that which is more explainable via stupidity.

It was actually incredibly stupid on two different levels - first, it's own, direct stupidity, and second, it sucked oxygen out of the fight between Pelosi her Democrats v AOC and her Twittercrats. When AOC's chief of staff took to describing Democrats - some of whom were African American - to 1940's Segregationists, the entire GOP should have just decided to shut up for a while, and let the Democrats suffer under the same bad-faith racial accusations and counter-accusations that they've slung at Republicans for decades.

But, Trump has a constitutional inability to shut up, even when it's in his own interest. So, instead, he said something incredibly stupid and offensive, re-united the warring sides of the Democrat party, and even probably helped immunize the same people he wanted to attack from actual criticism by those who would be most effective at it - other Democrats.

 intentions matter. A Hindu who uses a swastika intends something very different than a neo-Nazi who uses a swastika, and so their intention means that what they are saying with the same symbol is nonetheless different.

If this happened in a vacuum without decades of direct evidence of his beliefs on and disdain for minorities, one might try and give him the benefit of the doubt. The trouble is, that really is what he believes and his base absolutely adores him for it.

You yourself admit he's a racist, so it's a bit like you defending David Duke saying "n****ers go back to Africa" in the off chance he wasn't meaning to be racist that one time.

I read the tweets directly and it's abundantly clear to everyone that doesn't have a racist agenda that what he said is blatantly racist. Telling Americans who were born here to "go back to their own country" is objectively racist. Trump sees minority women so he immediately thinks of them as foreigners.

I don't understand why it's "racist"--shouldn't it be "jingoistic" or "xenophobic" because race and national origin aren't the same?

This.

When you tell minorities to go back where they came from despite having been born here, it's racist. It's like asking a minority where they're from, then when they say "America" you ask "No, where are you REALLY from??"

If Donald hates so much of how America was run up to this point why doesn't he go back to Germany, you know, where he came from.

So you admit it is bigotry of some sort then

His latest racist idiocy hasn't changed my opinion of him much. I still consider him to be a national disgrace pretty much like before.

True but this takes it a step further especially for American born citizens who have heard crap like "go back to your country" our whole lives. It's absolutely disgusting the President would resort to that kind of talk and it makes my opinion of Trump even worse, if that's possible. **** him.

It's possible that my opinion of him could be lower, but since it's already floating somewhere over China, it's difficult to measure at this point. The Trump cult era is a sad and disgusting time for our country.

You are the only person on the planet who does not know who these tweets were directed at. Lol

Ridiculous.

But it's true that I am one of only a few people on this forum who are not inclined to make **** up.

Yes he did. What congresswomen specifically was he talking to then?

Can you read? He said, specifically, "who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe".

So no, he was not talking about anyone born in the US. He wasn't talking about anyone who originally came from a country who's government is not a complete and total catastrophe. He wasn't talking about anything other than exactly what he said.

Since you insist on making **** up, you are dismissed.

Trump did not use "racist language". He did not tell "natural born Americans" to do anything.

Seriously, you two should get off that Trump-hating media you are addicted to. It's rotting your brains...making you believe lies. You deserve better for yourselves.

Anyway, in response to the poll, I neither agree nor disagree with what Trump tweeted because I understand WHY he made those tweets. I understand his purpose for making those tweets. That is what's important. Not the content of the tweets.

Don't get so caught up with the rhetoric. Look to the motivation and the goal.

And please...don't make **** up.

Agree. The question is loaded and not valid. Maybe CNN didn't inform the OP that Trump said COME BACK after to fix things. Trump comes from an era where is wasn't racist to say, "America, love it or leave it".
If you want to see what a racist rant looks like, look no further than what Ayanna Pressley had to say about her virulent brand of racist, identity politics. Basically, Uncle Toms need not apply.

So, are you arguing that Trump thinks that America under his Administration is a complete and total catastrophe, the most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world?

No. I've said nothing of the kind.

I'm guessing you are one of those people who think Trump is talking about some specific person who was born in America in his tweet. That would be right in line with this nonsense you just posted to me.

There are no "Pressley-haters" in the media, so she gets away with that kind of blatant racism. Not so with Trump.

OK, he said, "So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all)..."

He's being very specific there. If not the four identified, who was he referring to in that Tweet?

He didn't say that to any natural born Americans.

Seriously...did you even read his tweet?

Is is better if he says it to naturalized citizens, who are when they take the oath as American as you are and as Trump is.

Bottom line is when he referred to Congresswomen, plural, he was referring by definition to a citizen of this country, and telling them to go back to where they came from. No amount of gaslighting changes that.

Why do you think Omar doesn't care about the people in the country she was born in?

Show your work for that assertion underlying that stupid question.

And she's an American now. What part of that is hard for people to grasp. She took an oath and became a citizen. We used to admire that, and now we ask why they come here and love this country.

It's disgusting where Trump is dragging the country.

Since that's the nonsense everyone is all worked up about, that just means they are getting worked up over something that doesn't exist.

In other words...they are making **** up.

You are hilarious

Don't make **** up? :lamo Kinda like you just spun the biggest whopper of a say-nothing apology for Trump's inexcusable statements? You understand his purpose, do you? Is that kind of like a level up for Trump disciples? Spend enough time defending his bull****, and you gain golden orange enlightenment?

Be super super clear, Mycroft. When decent conservatives get called "deplorable", they are being generalized based on, and because of, people like you.

Rotten brains indeed.

Both is also a choice. But we shouldn't have to assume the President of the United States is a moron. And if he misspoke, he's got a dozen different ways to clarify his remarks, and he didn't. So your number 1. is appreciated, but once you acknowledge that he is a racist, it's entirely fair to attribute his comments to malice, because that is what mean, stupid racists do every day. YouTube is full of examples.

Yes, of course, both sides.

 intentions matter. A Hindu who uses a swastika intends something very different than a neo-Nazi who uses a swastika, and so their intention means that what they are saying with the same symbol is nonetheless different.

I agree intentions matter, but if the Tweet was received in a way Trump didn't 'intend' then he has as many opportunities to clarify as he wants - he can pick his method, his outlet and the minute he'd like to make his remarks. When he doesn't do that, and in fact doubles down on his remarks, we should assume he intended the remarks exactly as written.

There are no "Pressley-haters" in the media, so she gets away with that kind of blatant racism. Not so with Trump.

What will be interesting and entirely not surprising is that Democrats will call Trump out by name and condemn him by name, in no uncertain terms. Contrast that with their impotence when it came to condemning Omar for her continued anit-Semitic rants.
It's why their faux outrage will fall on deaf ears. They have no standards.

And there is nothing racist in that remark.

Fine, call it white nationalism if you don't like using the term racism.

And even if we take your absurd position, accept it, the comment is still disgusting coming from the President. He's not a talk show host or a drunk at a bar, and so what he says should reflect who WE are as a country, and this "President" is telling unnamed (as you see it) U.S. citizens they are not welcome here, and should go back to their country of origin. What kind of message is that in a country in which ALL of us but the native Americans descend from immigrants, including Trump in the fairly recent past? It's out of bounds on every possible level.

She apologized.
