Open Borders Must Be Part of Any Response to the Climate Crisis
The alternative is the death of millions and a world fractured by nationalism.

Severe drought in Central America has been pushing Hondurans, Salvadorans, and Guatemalans north through Mexico to the United States. Droughts in the Sahel, the Horn of Africa, and the Lake Chad Basin have been driving many thousands from both north and sub-Saharan Africa to risk the journeys across the Sahara and the Mediterranean to Europe. A sustained drought in Syria caused massive internal displacement, helping to spark an uprising that degraded into war, causing hundreds of thousands to flee across borders that, for all their apparent permanence, didn’t exist a little more than a century ago.

And so, it is time to shout, and loudly, that the freedom of all the earth’s people to move across borders must be at the center of any response to the climate crisis. Unless we do, racism and fear—hidden as always in the guise of “security”—will give way to fascism and war before the tides get a chance to drown us.

Well, this changes everything I'd previously believed about the importance and right of a sovereign people to protect their nation with a border that must be respected by the rest of the world. There are droughts somewhere in the world! Astounding. We know that people who make their way into the USA grow exponentially as consumers, owning cars for the first time in many cases, eating more calories and thus expelling more waste, and increasing their carbon footprint on earth. So climate change must work in the reverse to how I'd understood it, and the added pollutants into the atmosphere that millions of foreigners world surely add by coming to the USA must actually reverse climate change, if Ben Ehrenreich is to be believed.

For those who are actually fooled into beliving that today's push by neo-cons, liberals, socialists and globalists to encourage mass migration on a global scale (which funnily enough usually ends up consisting of poor people migrating to Europe, Canada, Australia, and the USA, never Westerners moving to Somalia for example) I'd recommend considering that communists were arguing vociferously for an exodus styled mass migration on a global scale 100 years ago.

Yes, this **** really is 100 years old, and the oh-so-transparent ones of chosen lineage from Liebknecht to Ben Ehrenreich want borders removed for selfish reasons, as per usual.
 
For our world today, open borders is just a one way ticket to ruin your country. We don't have the systems in place to handle something like that, and we're certainly not anywhere near a single, world government.

That said, I understand the idea behind it and would like to see a world where that is how it works. It's also worth noting that this doesn't really matter, as no one in the mainstream is actually suggesting open borders, so this is like...super hypothetical.

I am 100% behind open borders, the day after the social safety net is abolished. Until then however we need an overhaul to our immigration system that streamlines those with valuable skills that make them likely to be self sustaining and block those who don't. We have far too many dependent on government as it is.

We already have a de facto open borders policy.


And when (not "if") the Dems get the White House, they will make it official.

There has not been a single Dem that has called for open borders, and they literally JUST passed a $4.5b immigration bill. The only things they're not keen on are useless walls and funding ICE, who keep proving that they are incapable of humanely doing their job.

I don't think ICE needs to be abolished, I think that they need to be re-chartered and reformed. Their mission is important, if done properly but they can't do a proper job with bad leadership selling them bad ideas.

And no, I am not in favor of open borders no matter how hard someone on the left sells the idea.
Walls are fine, where they can be put in without creating a **** show of epic proportions for the land owners and businesses, and the environment. They're not as effective as Trump seems to think.
 
I'll support a border wall if they'll make it out of solar panels and windmills.

Send us (Canada) the Hondurans, El Salvadorans, the Nicaraguans and the Guatemalans. We need and want immigrants. Just keep those pesky Venezuelans of European descent at bay as too many of them harbour notions of racial superiority in my experience.

Climate change is only part of the problem. Another is local corruption coupled with US foreign policy. Fix all three as quickly as possible and feasible in order to minimise mass migration and the problems associated with it.

This is why I'm suspicious of the whole climate change movement. It's really a political agenda. It's also about making money for a few well placed investors. However, I like the idea of electric cars, though I think hydrogen is better, and I like solar and wind. But the solar industry is rife with poor quality and outright scam artists. I reminds me of the home siding industry; lots of fly by night operators. So I don't trust the whole "climate change" industry.
 
Climate change will force the issue as many people wont be able to live where they come from. At that point, it may come down to open borders or barbarism. We can do something about climate change if we listened to researchers in the field

The “climate change industry” features several researchers from around the globe.
 
Everyone cross the border should be given a new Tesla and a tent, with directions to San Francisco, Portland Oregon and Seattle Washington pre-programmed into the navigation system. The government would hold the title to the Tesla so they can't sell it.

The $4.5 billion has nothing to do with border security whatsoever.

To be consistent with their claims, Democrats in Congress should propose legislation that it is illegal to take any illegal migrants to hospitals, which some Democrats claim are run by Nazi doctors who murder non-white immigrants. But for this, illegal migrants would be immortal.
 
An investigation should be done to figure out who is behind decades, well over a century, of false reporting of droughts and mass starvation in the past around the world since it is a scientific fact that before climate change there were never any droughts nor starvation anywhere in the world. There were no deserts anywhere on earth prior to the industrial revolution. All of earth was lush and green with edible food everywhere just for the picking.

Read several books about the evolution of Earth, and the poor management of natural resources, and educate yourself.
