"United States foreign aid is aid given by the United States government to other governments. It does not include money from private charitable organizations based in the United States, or remittances sent between family members. There are two broad categories: military aid and economic assistance.[1] The Congressional Research Service divides it into five categories: bilateral development aid, economic assistance, humanitarian aid, multilateral economic contributions, and military aid."

And who do you think you protect us from? Damn, if you put a map of the world in front of nearly any Canadian and ask him to point to the biggest threat to Canadian sovereignty, guess where his finger will fall.

Why do they take so much aid from us then?
 
Oh, yes! yes! yes!

We should actually increase aid to countries that counsel or assist women to terminate births.

This is a win-win for everyone: the country involved will have fewer people (and thus fewer problems), and the rest of the world will not be burdened by people who are fleeing over-populated nations.

Sounds like a no-brainer to me.

Tons. We train lots of their military personnel and they get military equipment from us. Mostly we protect them.

You honestly think Canada can defend itself from Russia? Really?

You need to back up some of this stuff sooner or later, bud. For one thing, there's a Canadian Forces base at a place called Cold Lake, Alberta and at any given moment there's dozens, maybe hundreds of Americans training there. And every piece of American military equipement in the Canadian Forces was paid for in US dollars.
Defend ourselves from Russia? What a dumb concept. You don't understand the cache of goodwill Canada has worldwide. Anyone, Russia or the USA or anyone, who invaded Canada would find themselves on the wrong side of a world war. Why do you think the US hasn't already swallowed Canada up? Generosity?
We don't have enemies but we have lots and lots of friends.

Lack of interest.....not lack of ability. The US could trounce Canada and any number of secondary nations dumb enough to jump in if it really wanted to.

I hate to break it to you but I really doubt KGB Vlad has any degree of warm and fuzzy feeling when it comes to Canada. Neither does China.

Who exactly would come save you? England? Still an island, and the Royal Navy hasn’t been top dog for decades. France? They aren’t jumping into a large scale war unless French territory was invaded. Hell, promise an independent Quebec and who knows? Germany? The Germans don’t even want to fight for themselves, much less anyone else. The Bundeswehr is in shambles. Italy? Spain? Don’t make me laugh.
