It is clearly the Republican Party. No other obstacle comes close to being the threat it poses to our very essence as a nation. Destroy it and rebuild it as a libertarian party then we can begin the clean up phase.

People who think we can and should rank vastly different issues in a strict order of importance. ;)

we have the best government money can buy
until we fix that, monied interests will determine the political course of our nation

overturn Citizens United

People filled with so much hate they want to destroy their political opposition party. Kinda also destroys the idea of cooperation.

It is clearly the Democratic Party. No other obstacle comes close to being the threat it poses to our very essence as a nation. Destroy it and then we can begin the clean up phase.

If there is any proof of my claim it is this reply. In order to hold this belief, a person must ignore the history of the Republican Party up until the last decade or so. In fact, the defining moment may be Bush v Gore. At that point, the Republican Party as we once knew it started a slide towards whatever it is today.

Even the republicans know you're right deep down. Some have jumped ship, but there's still plenty of rats on the USS Deplorable.

Not in the poll, but IMO, the most import problem facing the country comes from the threat of politically motivated propaganda spread by the media and political leadership.

History has recorded over and over the use of ideological propaganda as a means of taking control of Nations, all to disastrous effect.

We are in an age of communication that has never occurred before. Very dangerous forces are attempting to exploit that, and control what is allowed to be seen and read.

Above all other issues, coming to terms with this fact is the most important issue facing the country today.

You forgot to include an "ignorant electorate" as one of the primary concerns of this time.

I put income inequality because I believe it is both a cause and symptom of all the other problems.

poll incoming

None of the Above. All of these problems have a root cause and it is a poor education and the glorification of ignorance by the Republican Party.

Excellent question and a difficult one to answer. But when you dive through all the intermediate issues, at its core you find one major problem: Fear of the black and brown person. This fuels more regressivism than any other problem in America.

I don't think democrats and their union supporters would like that.

I actually forgot to include war, as my answers were based on Gallups top 10. For myself, sending citizens to die in foreign wars we dont need to be in, is the worst thing the country is doing right now.

FYI if you beleive polls, the general public things govt/leadership 23% and immigration 21% are the top issues. Just goes to show how partisan-sheep people are, as those are the top issues in the media. Economy, Healthcare, Race, Poverty all came in aroun 5%.
