~ Government corruption/lethargy. Our politicians ( both parties ) work for themselves and the party - not the people.

I am not calling myself moderate at all. I am merely a person who would be pretty moderate if I lived anywhere else in the Western World. In this environment, a very liberal person is simply one that believes in the major types of legislation and progress laid down by a succession of previous administrations such as Teddy Roosevelt on the environment, Woodrow Wilson in terms of a global community represented in the UN, FDR in terms of fiscal policy and the power of government to do good things for the average person, in Truman who championed universal health care, in Ike who warned us about the military industrial complex, in Kennedy who inspired us to do the impossible together scientifically and intellectually, in LBJ who wanted us to be equal before the law, in Nixon who created the EPA, in Carter who led the way for alternative energy, in Reagan who worked across the aisle and compromised, in old man Bush who raised taxes when needed, in Clinton who tried to enact a better health care system, in Bush 2 who was a compassionate conservative, in Obama who inspired us to be better people by his own example. If these types of ideals make me a very liberal person, I welcome the label.

Case closed. Your'e not moderate while you accuse others of not being moderate. You shouldn't be accusing the other side of not being moderate when you're not moderate.

needed to be multiple choice

i could easily answer 4-5 of those

priorities....not sure which one takes top of the list

Well thats the idea. Whats actually important? If you beleive polls, according to most democrats its Trump. According to most Republicans its immigration. According to most americans, they dont care about either of those, but a variety of other things. Yet the parties and media are spending 99% of their time on those two issues.

if you have a brain...and think those are the two BIGGEST issues facing our country, maybe you need to order a new one

we have so MANY issues facing us....

a trillion dollar deficit...of which the only answer from anyone is to keep charging it up
a 22 trillion dollar debt....where the interest payments are going to get serious one of these days
a complete lack of leadership in DC from both sides....and neither one wanting to work together to solve any issues
a major illegal immigration problem....and a legal immigration problem in so that the visa system is screwed up, and it is too hard, too expensive, and way too long for people to come here
health insurance....enough said....we need to figure out how and what we are going to do
social security and medicare....we have to make some decisions on these...these 800 lb gorillas have to be dealt with...the sooner the better
this is just really quick off the top of my head

and just saying we will get corporations and the rich to PAY for it all is ludicrous....is isnt going to happen

we have to cut spending....we have to get our budget under control

so if you are one of those thinking Trump or immigration is our BIGGEST two problems....i think you need to rethink your priorities

Originally I thought immigration. However, after reading the responses on this I have to change my answer to TDS.

I would say the Republican Party

Their focus is brainwashing their voter base to get elected

And protecting/increasing the wealth of the wealthy while suppressing the middle/working class

The robber barons rule!

not the people

But.... Politicians are simply citizens themselves

"The tyranny of a prince in an oligarchy is not so dangerous to the public welfare as the apathy of a citizen in a democracy."--Montesquieu, Spirit of the laws, 1748.

1. Climate change.

2. Political corruption. All levels. Both ruling parties.

3. Private money involved in politics.

4.Equality - All people; all races, all religions, all sexes, all social and economic levels

4. Healthcare

4. Election laws

5. Affordable quality education

6. Gun violence

7. Foreign policy

8. Election laws

9. Steady organized creeping of religion into government.

Do you mean me? Or generic you?

What do you think is the most important problem facing the country today?

Obesity

FYI if you beleive polls, the general public things govt/leadership 23% and immigration 21% are the top issues. Just goes to show how partisan-sheep people are, as those are the top issues in the media. Economy, Healthcare, Race, Poverty all came in aroun 5%.

With good leadership all of the other problems mentioned could be/would be addressed. Not a partisan reply, a good Republican leader would be OK with me.

No respect for others and lack of personal integrity are at the core of the problems in this country.

This should have been a multiple choice poll, or at least the top 3-5 most important problems. Then I came across your answer. You are correct.

The most important problem facing America isn't even listed in the poll.

Political division? We've always had it and always will...why wouldn't we? When you vote for someone, you vote for that person to go to battle against ideas that oppose yours. The great thing about our country is that we can work to influence our government in hopes that if will reflect our views. What would a country look like without political division?

Wouldn't it be great to vote for someone who would go into battle for ideas that pleased most of us?

Different people have different methods to achieve these things. Could you think of something more specific, like a piece of legislation you'd like to pass?
You don't need to be told about every human being longing for peace, do you?
One idea, so please indulge me. I have seen it work many times on a smaller scale.
Love. God created us all, with all our faults, wherever we are from, whatever we look like, whatever color or whatnot. Christianity, left without being attacked and mocked, can produce a lot of good will.
Prosperity. The more secure we feel, the more generous we tend to be.

Well, different people have different ideas of how to achieve these things.

Btw, is your dog's name Lovebug?
