Well, there are lots of studies which indicate innate differences between the thought processes of Liberals vs conservatives. People who fundamentally change their political affiliation are intriguing for that reason -but rare, as you can see from this poll. I Know I have always had what one might call a "liberal" brain- drawn to change, variety, multi-cultural environments, social justice, new ideas...

I know it has taken me awhile to respond, but thanks for posting your links. As you can see by my stats, I don't hang out here often.
For example, liberals tend to rate justice higher than loyalty. Conservatives reverse those preferences.
The above quote was what I was hoping to find more data about, and I really didn't find significant justification to support the statement. I am not necessarily saying it isn't accurate, just not definitively enough for my liking. Of course the psychology of the human mind is not my area of expertise by a long shot.
One of the things in general that I find surprising is that studies such as these are conducted with a very limited number of people who represent a vastly larger group. 50 people or so in some of your links are supposed to represent 50 million or more individuals in the country as a whole. Not very representative at all.
In the end, as a conservative, generally I would not rate loyalty above justice (although I would suspect that you and I would define justice differently). Of no doubt is the pretty obvious fact that conservatives and liberals are of a different mind on a great many things.
