markets correct themselves

and when this small correction reverses, what will your responses be? crickets?

there are traders, and there are long term stock investors....

i dont trade...i buy and hold for 10-15 year timeframes....the small corrections i dont care one way or another about

over the LONG TERM i know i will average 12-15% returns just like i have for the last 30+ years....

you can sit on the sidelines and root for the market to go down because you hate the current president....that says more about you than anything else

It's been a year-and-a-half since the steady rise of the stock market has suddenly ceased. Maybe you should channel your inner Herbert Hoover and wait for the recovery that's just around the corner. ;)

there are ebbs and flows....bulls and bears....

maybe you need to read a little more about real market activity instead of playing politics with it, huh?

or maybe you think it is Trump's fault buyers bid up Amazon's price to 90x next years earnings? :lamo

How's your portfolio been doing over the last year-and-a-half?

Well, it would also be fantastic if bird **** cleaned your windshield but that isn't the way the world works.

See, a little adversity now and again is a GOOD thing. Overcoming adversity is how we GROW as people and as a society. It's how we figure out what the best methods for SURVIVAL are. When we stop being challenged we get complacent and when we get complacent then others who are not complacent come in and kick our asses.

So should I stop wiping my behind now to create some adversity, so that then I can then try to overcome it and thereby become stronger?

mine is up about 3.5%....

but again, i dont look at short term results

i buy stocks for LONG TERM growth

i have held Sysco for 22 years now
I have held Microsoft for 19 years
I have held IBM for 28 years
I have held Johnson & Johnson for 15 years

And the list goes on and on....i have the same type of taste as Buffett....stocks with huge moats....stocks that can weather good cycles and bad

I dont chase high flyers....i like nice steady growth and nice dividends

And i have done very well for a long time

Watch: the stocks will fall and STILL be better than what it was under Obama.

Stocks rose from 8500 up to nearly 20,000 during Obama’s term. Compared to that, Trump’s 20% is like his hair: something only a sycophant would consider impressive.

Life today has become a political issue.
As for the stock market, my 1st quarter gains were +6.1%, so I have no complaints.
Gains need not be dictated by the direction of the DOW.

Trump threatened to impose a 25% tax er, "tariff" on Chinese goods over the weekend. So, the question is. How devastating will this stupid idea be to the stock market?

Boy, this thread didn't age well. I hope you didn't sell at the lows on Monday.

After checking, there was some truth in the OP, my worst case stock fell $0.12 in value the following Monday, but since has risen $1.01 in value, a 3.3% gain.

What exactly did Obama do to cause your investment to grow 33%? What happen is when Obama came into office the stock market was in the sewer (very low)
and had nowhere to go but up! The bottom of the stock market crash was March 2009! Why did you disrespect Obama?

My investments grew while Obama was President too, but also under every past President since I began investing. The growth has ALWAYS been the result of my investment decisions, regardless of who or which party was in power.

If I were to relate my gains to a President, that would have to be Ronald Reagan, during which time I made my greatest gains taking advantage of Black Monday.
