There are several reasons to do this. One would be that if Trump is defeated, to have his replacement be as sane as possible. Another would be an "Operation Chaos" kind of thing to nominate the weakest candidate. Do you plan to vote in the Democrat primary for President? If so, why?

Registered Republicans cannot vote in a Democratic primary, and vice versa.

Yes, but only to choose the "sanest" candidate. They are all pretty weak in their own right, and i would vote for trump regardless. So they way I see it is, it's a win win for me, and lose-lose for them.

That is only the case in some states - Texas lets you choose on a per (primary) election basis.

It would be interesting if Republicans gave Biden the Democrat nomination. We could call it the "Sleepy vs Grumpy" race.

Nope. I see no candidate worthy of my vote so right now I’m planning on abstaining from the presidential race and focusing on local and state elections.

Are you forcing me to? BECAUSE YOU ARE BASICALLY TAKING MY RIGHT AWAY

Uh, that would be "Democratic"; the pejorative "Democrat" as though they are all nouns shows disrespect.

One candidate has been my favorite for some time, it being Bernie. Sadly, all the votes and all the support didn't matter, because he dared to run against the queen. He gave it a good shot and had a lot of support, but in the end it didn't really matter at all.
At the moment, we live in a closed primary state, and that is just fine. Being a registered independent, we (husband and I) can't vote in a primary. Should we move and still be registered I, we have enough integrity to not vote just as well. Too many people are just too partisan. We don't want any part of that.

I'm probably going to vote for Yang in the primary. He'd do far less harm as President than most Democrats (and Trump is likely to lose), and he's the only major politician talking about the problem of automation (though I don't agree with his solution for it). Moreover, he's also the only mainstream politician I'm aware of who's ever said that declining white birth rates are a bad thing (which is a far contrast from most of his party, who have nothing but contempt for us).

If he does get the nomination, I'll still have to vote against him in the general election, though I won't be horribly upset when he wins.

As of right now, no. I'd do it if I wanted to participate in another "Operation Chaos," but no one is truly unique in these primaries. With an exception of a few things with each candidate, everyone is the same (as was the last Democrat primary, back in 2016, was). The REAL question is who are the Democrat voters going to throw under the bus and say that those candidates are moderates (in other words, too far Right)? That's what I'd like to know. None of these Democrats are moderates. The entire Democrat party, with the exception of an EXTREMELY small number, are NOT moderates. They're ALL far Left ideologues. It's just some of them know when to shut up about their true intentions and some don't. And let's be honest, do you really think Crazy Bernie is the only candidate in the Democrat field that wants criminals in jail (which includes murderers, rapists, arsonists, and terrorists) to vote? HELL NO! They're all on board with the killing of babies right before or after they're born, so having jailed criminals vote isn't a stretch for any of them. But regardless, this will be a fun primary to watch. Let them rip each other apart and accidentally reveal what the Democrat party and the entire Left wing wants to do (which is country ending policies). Then after each debate, ask this question: how big is Donald Trump going to win in 2020, and how crazy will the Left go after Trump wins?

Vote for Buttegieg, to get the wackiest candidate through the primary.

Yes to all of this.

We don't register in Virginia.

What do you mean, you 'don't register' ?

Vote for Buttegieg, to get the wackiest candidate through the primary.

I think your problem with Pete Buttegieg is twofold. First, he's young and he's openly gay. Second, he's intelligent and can put two sentences together without a teleprompter, like Trump.

Of course not. The presidency will not be the only election on the ballot.

Anyone would be an improvement over the childish, lying, bullying asshole who holds the office now.

In my state there is no requirement to register in any party...but on the primary ballot in my state you have to vote all democrat or all republican. You can not cross over and vote for different candidates in different parties. So yes...being a republican you could vote on the democratic ballot but you have vote for the entire ticket.

Interesting rant....I guess that lying bully in the WH who is somehow at fault for improving lives with the strongest economy in years?

In 2004, Washington became the first state to adopt a top-two primary system for congressional and state-level elections That's the voting laws in several other states, California, Louisiana and Nebraska. But those elections are only in either congressional elections or state elections. The same voting rules don't apply to presidential election primaries.

Nobody with an economic IQ over 2 believes that.
