Is relocating illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities/states a good idea?

Is relocating illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities/states a good idea?

I have no problem with illegal immigrants that are only looking for a better life and I do live on the same block as more than a few. I think for the most part illegal immigrants are good citizens who want to live a good life and are family oriented, just like many of us.

I am just uneasy of the idea of using those people, who are actual human beings, as political tools of revenge against another political opponent.

Why don't you see it as Trump offering you a gift? How is it "revenge?" Just because someone said that word? Revenge against who? You?

Serious question, wouldn’t sanctuary cities be the safest/best place for them? How is it not a win win?

Why have laws if you do not enforce them. It is our governments job to enforce our laws not circumvent them. Everything is wrong with this picture.

This is really simple. The Immigration Service should formally ask cities it they are willing to accept "refugees" awaiting their federal court hearing - a list 800,000 long - in their city? This should be formally and publicly presented - with the reply also made public.

Then it would be 100% reasonable to release such refugees where they are welcome.

How would that be anything but the RIGHT thing to do?

So let me get this straight... Trump's gone from 'zero tolerance', to 'completely closing the border', to now 'busing the illegals to parts of the US'? lol

And the mindless Trumpsters will STILL refuse to call out their liar and chief. After-all he is targeting Blue states, and revenge and hatred and racism is what the modern GOP is all about. And the Trumpsters love that.
Nothing mindless about it. It's call pragmatism. When one solution isn't feasible, try another. "Targeting Blue States". No, not really; they're the ones arguing to control the borders with one hand tied behind our backs - time to enjoy the benefits of the border control policies they espouse.

The idea is matching up the people with the locations that welcome and protect them.

Then, as another poster pointed out in another thread, Trump should bus them to the thousands of rural farms that employ and protect them as well.

I agree. If they support lawless people then we should ship all of them to these supporters of law breakers. We will keep the law abiding. No more jails or prisons. We ship all convicted law breakers to sanctuary cities where they can live happily ever after. I say we start with rapist, pedophiles, and murderers. It is their job to keep them.

No, it's not. I don't like the idea of using people as tools of political revenge.

Oh the delicious irony.
It's different when the Democrats do it?

Goodness, wake up.

Funny, but stupid.

No, it's not any different. Just because many people like to employ a double standard doesn't mean the rest of us do.

I would be against a Democrat coming out and saying they were doing a political move using people as revenge against Republicans.

How is it revenge? Are you claiming the illegal migrants HARM a city? If so, then say so outright. You can't legitimately incessantly claim illegal migrants are GOOD to have - and then declare "not in MY city! That would be revenge!"

Pick one. Illegal migrants are GOOD for a community OR illegal migrants are BAD for a community. Which one do you say now?

The cognitive dissonance is again exposed for these people...and over a non story no less.

You're another who doesn't get it.
Since the welcoming blue states are filled with sanctuary cities, why wouldn't they want illegals sent to them?
Why would Trump send them to cities that don't support this leftist, bureaucratic nonsense; sanctuary city policy?

ICE had rejected the idea due to concerns of transportation, liability, and dubious legal standing. So it sounds like it would be a bad idea.

It's yet another crazy idea Trump spouted off in the moment and his supporters are running with it.

Well the Trumpeteer Cult isn't quite well known for its moral clarity and scruples.

Perhaps but that's not how it was being presented.

We need to start brainstorming on better and efficient yet still humane means of processing people detained at the border.

How about you tell this to the Democrats up on Capitol Hill? Tell them to get out of their ivory towers and do something about immigration reforms. How many times does the president have to say the laws need to be changed?

The Democrats' false pretense, their phony mantras that they love migrants and DJT doesn't, isn't helping to get them processed more humanly! Believe it or not, this responsibility to make sure migrants are processed more effectively remains with congress.

Attaching poll.

I voted I don't know, because I don't know. I didn't like the way it was suggested. To me, it seemed like a revenge ploy from Trump. What is the upside to it (serious question)? And do we put them all in busses and drop them in the center of San Fran (for instance)?

Okay I will give the Democrats a call right now.

I'm sure though none of them will give a damn what I think since every single one of my representatives in Congress is a Republican. Who, although bluster about immigration, turn many a blind eye to all the farms in Nebraska hiring illegals.

How could the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives justify not welcoming illegal aliens into her City.
What a great example she would set for other sanctuary cities across the country.
You don't doubt their sincerity do you?

You're not thinking of why Trump made those comments, only saying that he is exploiting them. That's stupid.
The law says Trump has to let them go, so sending them to sanctuary cities after the 20 day holding period is more humane than letting them go to a non-sanctuary city. Isn't it?

I don't want to see them released after 20 days, but the do nothing as usual DC politicians are too important to change immigration laws. They refuse to give Trump any money... what's Trump supposed to do?

Link?

never mind

Maybe, as another poster pointed out in another thread, we should bus them to the rural farms that actually hire them and want them.

Agricultural jobs are a tiny percentage of US employment opportunities.

And all the golf courses that bear the name "Trump" on them, too.

It is precisely our laws that prevent deporting them if they know the magic words to get an asylum hearing within the next few years.
