I'm only 5 foot so I would like say about 5 more inches. If nothing else but to be able to get things off the top shelf.

Not true- I am a walking disaster. Show me some stairs and I'm tripping down, or up, them in no time.

You must be related to my wife. She's not too fond of our stairs.

Your husband's lucky.

I just checked with the wife and she said 7 inches would not be "too much".

Actually, I've heard that if you are under 5 feet tall, you qualify as a "disabled" person. That means you get to park in the handicap zones! That would be so convenient.

That's men; I think for women to qualify as "little people" or whatever the hell they're called these days, they have to be under 4'7" or something.
I'm talking about ordinary small folk who do not suffer from obvious dwarfism or some other disability or malformation.
5'0", for a woman, is not far enough from "average" to be a real problem (the median height for an American white woman being 5'3" or 5'4". For an Asian woman, far shorter. For a black woman, slightly taller).

My dad, on the other hand, is only 5'5" or thereabouts, and it's just noticable how short he is, especially since he's gotten older. He's way shorter than nearly all other men, and a lot of women, as well.
But, as a female, I don't feel that this inherited "shortness" is as noticable on me, and certainly not as big a liability.
My physical smallness misleads people into believing I'm years younger than my actual age, for starters, which is beginning to seem more and more beneficial the older I get.
Of course, when I'm actually old, I'll probably be one of those brittle, shriveled up little things. Hunch-backed, no substance, no bone mass. Old people shrink, especially old ladies. Tall women will shrink too, but then they'll be average-sized. I'll shrink, and I'll look like a dried-up insect husk. People will patronize me.
Oh wait, people already patronize me. They've been doing it all my life.
But in a way, that gives me a psychological advantage as well.

I am just over 6'2". I wouldn't want to be anything else.
It was great for being competitive in all athletics and I am nothing if not competitive and athletic. :2razz:

I'm 6'4" and I'd rather be in the 6' - 6'2" range.

I'm 6' even and I'm content with that. Fedor's size. Tall enough to punch about anyone in the face, but not so tall as to stand out in a shootout.

From the earlier posts, it looks like 6' 3" is the most popular height. Also, a disproportionate percentage of the posters say they are at or close to this height.

Hmmmmm!

And on another thread, the average IQ is in the 130 -140 range.

Is there a correlation between height and IQ? Has anybody done any studies of this?

I think there is a correlation between lies and the internet.

We should try making a poll about dick size.
If most male DP members vote for 8-10 inches, I think that'll pretty much categorically prove your theory.

I'm 5'5 1/2" and I'd like to be about 5'7", except then I would be taller than my husband in heels. ;)

My wife's taller than I am when she wears heals, but she's 5'10". I'm like 5'10 1/2.

5'10"? I don't think i've ever even seen a woman that tall in real life.
You people are all really, really ****ing tall.

I'm 5'10". I'd prefer to be a little shorter--like 5'8'' since pants that reach my ankle are a rarity.

5'10" isn't that tall for a guy. My wife is pretty tall, though.

You live in the northern states? We grow them tall up here. I'm tall, but not freakish.

EDIT: :doh Chicago...

I know. I know lots of guys who are 5'10".
I thought you said your wife was 5'10".
That can't be typical. I never see women that tall.
That's like really tall.
Female college basketball player/ supermodel height.

It's not typical, especially given that she's 100% Sicilian and most Sicilians are really, really short. But her family is really tall for any group of people, let alone sicilians. My brother in law is 6'6" tall at least. He's pro-football big.

;) She's very attractive. A lot of people think she looks like Sandra Bullock.

But she's also amazingly smart. The total package. I would've married her regardless of what she looks like. I jusrt got really really lucky.

Two girls I work with are both 5'10". One of my friends is 5'11". It's not common, but not as unusual as one would think.

Cool. I've seen (but not spoken to) Sandra Bullock.
She has a house on the lake near where my family lives.
She has a swan paddle boat.
