How serious of a thing is perjury before Congress?

Michael Cohen has been referred for potential charges for perjury for his recent testimony before Congress.

Is perjury before Congress a big deal or no?

No. The deal comes after you lie to congress repeatedly. Then you play lets make a deal and lie for them.

Inorite?

If only we could get a member of the GOP to take charge of the executive branch and maybe have the GOP control one or two houses of Congress.

Then we would see these innumerable criminals face justice.

But until that day we will just have to cast about aspersions of how unfair Life is.
'Cause that's what conservatism is all about — playing the victim card.

UNFAIR! UNFAIR! UNFAIR!

Obama was in charge when this crap went down. When you are done TDSing please show us one post you made that called him out for this.

That's some great deflection. :lamo
I thought as much.

You are utterly unable to show that Trump is incapable of bringing these criminals to justice.

The statute of limitations will not expire for a bit.

So, we still have time to hope for the GOP to one day take the reins of govt and correct these travesties, these miscarriages of justice which allow these many crimes to remain unpunished to this very day.

If only there were a GOP member who was responsible for the executive branch instead of that atheist Muslim Hussein.
If a member of the GOP took control of the executive branch away from Hussein, then we'd see these criminals prosecuted.

Until then, we, the country as a whole even remains a victim of these many, many un-prosecuted crimes.

One day, my friend, one day...
Stay strong and have hope that one day the GOP will take responsibility for and the reins of the USG.
Then, on that day, these monsters shall receive the justice they so rightly deserve.

Are you ever going to make you case that Trump's DoJ is not responsible for administering justice for the various atrocities like Uranium One and all the other heinous attacks Killary and the demoncrats have made on our great nation?

Hold, when you said "Michael Cohen has been referred for potential charges for perjury for his recent testimony before Congress." --do you mean perjury by Trump or Cohen?

We need to drain the swamp long before that happens. You confuse me with a GOPer. I find rinos more disgusting than dems.

I guess you didn't. :lamo
[Like I said previously, the idea of Trump being incompetent at anything is preposterous — because of his powers of dealmake (lvl 101+) & executiving (lvl 101+) —
but in the spirit of thoroughness & intellectual honesty, we have to consider an idea before rejecting it.]

If the case remains unmade (or un-makable) that Trump's unable to get his "employees" who are charged with enforcing the law do their jobs & enforce the law,
we can assume that Trump's DoJ do their job with low-viscosity effectiveness & efficiency —
hallmarks of Trump's executive branch, Trump's vast business empire, & Trump's immense personal life.
[All of which are run like a well-oily machine.]

There must be some other reason why Trump's DoJ is waiting to charge all of these crooked, crooked criminals with all of their crooked, crooked crimes. (& treasons? idk)

Two possibilities are
1) Trump's DoJ is unable to justify bringing charges against these crooked, crooked criminals,
2) or, (more likely), Trump is using his presidential, executive well endowedment powers to prevent their prosecution for some reason.( Working for the DS™? idk )

There're talking heads (famous ones!), all sorts of people on the internet, & even official politicians who have literally proven
all of these crooked crimes & evidence are exactly as billed.
[There're even videos on YouTube™ if you don't believe me.]

Aside from the literal tons of digital information, tons of proof & evidence one can google,
the folks at the DoJ have access to all sorts of special agent LEO investigators who have special investigation powers, access to sensitive information and methods.

So, the DoJ has all the evidence we've seen, and then some!
We can safely rule out the possibility that Trump's DoJ is unable to justify bringing charges against these crooked, crooked criminals.
[As silly as it is to even consider this possibility, there's no other legitimate way necessary to discard it than to carefully consider it for a moment.]

After we quickly toss that possibility, we're left with having to at least examine the possibility that Trump is in on t3h C0nspir4cy™, working for the DS™ on the dl.

If Trump were working with The Many Enemies of The People™, to what end?

Obviously, Trump is secretly planning to double-cross them once he gets everything he needs to totally bring them down once & for all —
a fell stroke finally freeing the wrists of America from the fetters of The Evil, Liberal, Tyranny™

[Can you imagine a world were we were unable to quickly and easily rule out the possibility that Trump's DoJ is unable to justify bringing charges against these crooked, crooked criminals?]

It should only be illegal for some apparently.

Bill Clinton lying about getting a blowjob? Bad. The Trump crime syndicate lying about high crimes and misdemeanors? Mulligans.

Hold, when you said "Michael Cohen has been referred for potential charges for perjury for his recent testimony before Congress." --do you mean perjury by Trump or Cohen?
I didn't refer Cohen for perjury before Congress.

Some congresscritters referred Cohen for potential charges for Cohen's recent testimony before Congress.

I've never even read the transcript.
If I had the power to refer someone to the DoJ for potential perjury charges,
I'd want to at least do read the transcript before I did.

I pointed out that perjury before congress is what M Cohen is being accused of as an example of a case fresh in the media.
e.g.

What consequences should someone face if they were convicted for what the congresscritters accuse Cohen of?

Frankly I think that everyone in Congress should be required to take an oath every single day that Congress is in session. If Congress is allowed to lie to the people then the people should be allowed to lie to Congress. What's good for the goose, is good for the gander.

In spirit, sure. But their immunity is derived from the Constitution.
Without it, you run the risk of an opposition president/executive branch using legal means to thwart Congressional power.
With it, we get a lying circus of a congress for a handful of its members.

I suppose we're supposed to vote out the clowns like Jordan and Nunes, etc. but that's difficult. Which may go back to term limits and removal of money from government, as being better ways to solve this.
Which then leads us back to the Democrats first proposal of session, HR1, and anti-corruption proposal.

House Democrats officially unveil first bill: a sweeping anti-corruption proposal - Vox

Some people are trying to reform, you just have to support those reforms, even if you don't support the party.

Of course you have proof of this?

Emails between Rob Goldstein and Don Jr. proving he lied to Congress about the objective of that June meeting. It was NOT about adoptions.

Good morning

Emin just called and asked me to contact you with something very interesting.

The Crown prosecutor of Russia met with his father Aras this morning and in their meeting offered to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father.

This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government's support for Mr. Trump - helped along by Aras and Emin.

What do you think is the best way to handle this information and would you be able to speak to Emin about it directly?

I can also send this info to your father via Rhona, but it is ultra sensitive so wanted to send to you first.

Nothing illegal in those emails.

While I very much like that theory, it unfortunately is not realistic. Congress people still have 1st Amendment rights outside of Congress and we allow investigators to not tell the truth to those who are being questioned (like Cohen). But you have to hold people responsible for lying in an investigation, otherwise justice can never be fairly done.

Reason I said "every single day" is to indicate that it would only apply while congress is in session. Outside of Senate and House rooms they can say what they want.

As for LEO's lying...I think its BS they're allowed to lie while interrogating someone. That should be banned also.

When will they be prosecuting Ernie Keebler? He lied to congress.

You mean elves don't really bake the cookies?

Nothing illegal in those emails.

Colluding with an adversarial government to meddle in a U.S. election is about as profoundly illegal as it could possibly get.

I disagree, but it is a very reasonable position for you to hold.
