Trump abruptly left Kim the Young-un at the alter. So, tell me. Do you believe he walked away from the chance to make a deal for our benefit or his?

Bone spurs probably acted up.

lol

He wasn't going to get what he wanted, when Trump doesn't get what he wants, he throws a tantrum. I think we're all well aware of this by now.

After he publicly absolved the North Korean Dictator for ordering an American citizen to be tortured to death, he decided he had done more to shame the office of the presidency and the country that elected him in a single day than any other president in history, and thus decided to go home.

Sometimes I think that Trump gets off on doing the most despicable things imaginable just so he can watch his cult of followers wipe their ass with any shred of integrity they have left in trying to defend him.

You can love this country, or you can love despicable Trump, but you can't do both.

I'm not sure Trump is one to limit the amount of shame he can heap upon the office of President.

Perfect characterization of Trump, except he would be a USED Car Dealer!

I'll guarantee you that any worthy used car salesman fully prepares before he negotiates to sell a car. Trump simply doesn't prepare. I'm guessing he is incapable.

Piss Poor Planning Produces Piss Poor Performance. The Trump cult will ignore that fact about Trump as long as they can.

His bone spurs had 50 year old phantom pain and his shoes were killing him. He had to get back to AF1 to get his fuzzy slippers on.

How do you know he didn't prepare? Did AOC tell you this?

Trump left the talks in disgrace because he did zero research, had zero qualified people working on the issue, doesn't know the stakes of the issue and knows nothing about negotiation.

The Democrats put on the Cohen circus at the same time of the summit for their benefit. They undermined the Presidents efforts to broker a deal. What is bad for America is good for the Democrats.

Lol. The Democrats live in Trump's (and your) head.

To my knowledge Alexandrea Ocasio-Cortez has nothing whatsoever to do with Trump’s trip to Hanoi. Did I miss something regarding Trump, Ocasio-Cortez and his meeting with Kim?

As to Trump’s preparation for Kim, Trump’s lack of planning for anything is legendary. It is/has been evident for years. Trump has even admitted that he doesn’t like to prepare. He doesn’t read and it has been reported that his attention span is very brief. It has been reported that he did not prepare for his recent trip. Do you evidence to the contrary?

This has to be the most stupid poll I have seen in long, long time. Come on OP list the real reason Trump left? How about because all NK wanted was the lifting of the sanctions without denuclearizing of North Korea. That is the same stupid deal the last four administration gave NK but Trump didn't fall for it. Just wait and the NK regime will be back begging for a deal.

News just in a few hours ago....

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un vowed to meet again with President Donald Trump to continue nuclear negotiations after a two-day summit between the leaders collapsed Thursday amid disagreement over sanctions relief and conflicting accounts of Pyongyang’s demands.
Kim’s pledge was released Friday through North Korea’s state-run news agency KCNA in a report offering a more optimistic outlook than the regime’s top diplomats gave in a rare news conference hours earlier. Kim expressed appreciation for Trump’s “active efforts toward results” and called the summit talks “productive.”

"It has been reported..." isn't evidence.

I don’t know what that reference to AOC means but Trump himself has stated that he likes his gut reactions. It is quite obvious that he never prepares or reads. You can’t champion foreign affairs if you don’t know what is going on.

Hmmm...not sure why you think that considering he walked away after considering Kim offer and rejected it....unlike many of the prior administrations who caved in to a bad deal and in the end we ended up with zero positive results.

Had Trump actually prepared, had Trump known his adversary, known and understood the possible adversarial positions, had known the history of North Korea and previous negotiation attempts - which he did not - Trump may have been in a position to score a partial victory. Instead, Trump arrived in Hanoi with nothing and left Hanoi with nothing.

Walking away from negotiations when you have done your homework is one thing. Walking away when you're unprepared and less knowledgeable than your opponent is something else altogether.

Before you buy cars, before you've bought houses did you do your homework? I'll be you did. If you didn't then your experiences were likely horrendous. You damn sure didn't get any sweet deals going in cold. Unprepared you'd likely have encountered a proposal and a counter-proposal that were outrageous and no doubt you ended the negotiation as quickly as you could.

Now if you do your homework, if you know as much as possible about the other side and what the other side wants you stand a much better chance of finding mutual ground. Or knowing ahead of time the limits your opponent you might well decide not to enter into negotiation. I'm sure you do that when you buy houses and cars. If you have done your homework and you reasonably expect you may have shot a negotiable deal walking away, in the end, is much different than walking away when you discover that you have no real idea what you are doing.

Given Trump's history of short sighted and impulsive ****ery, how prepared do you think Trump was?

Absolutely more so than the usual Trump haters.

He walked away, unlike past administrations over the last 40 years of giving in to NK and getting nothing in return, he is forcing Kim to the negotiating table again and that indicates that Kim knows Trump won't let them get what they want without denuclearizing, intercontinental missiles or other concessions like the end to the Korean war.
Unlike Obama, Bush Jr, Clinton and Bush Sr who eased sanctions and ended up allowing NK to continue on the path to having the bomb and tensions along the 38th Parallel.
I think Trump knew exactly what he wanted and reacted accordingly when Kim balked at giving up his nuclear arsenal. etc. So yes Trump was very well prepared to bargain but only if Kim was and obviously Kim wasn't. Kim knew what Trump wanted long before the Hanoi meeting and thought he could get sanctions lifted without something in return. Obviously he didn't get it so Trump walked. No rocket science degree needed.
I also think nothing will come from any negations without approval from China who seems to have worries about a reunification of the Korean peninsula that would lessen their influence in the area. China is the key to any deal making.

He had no chance to make a deal and he knew that from the outset. He just wanted his name in the papers yet again.

So - he gets a big fat nothing for his first two years. The Constitution however - is closing in on him.

No objective observer disagrees with the statement that the Dems would rather have Trump fail than America succeed. Their hatred is patent. However, there were plenty of Republicans who hoped Obama would fail too-even if that harmed America-but not at the same level of hysterics we see from dems today.

I attribute that to the fact that government is more important an entity to the left than the right, so the left is more agitated when they don't control it.

Make your poll a bit more rational and you might get serious responses.

I truly haven't an opinion on whether he left for reasons endogenous to the summit or for reasons exogenous to it. Frankly, I don't know why I, at this point, need to have an opinion on that.

He left because he knew he had done nothing and looked like a fool. I understand he also visited a spot that had a memorial to him. It was a monument that said "If Trump had not received deferments, this is where he would have died."

No, all objective observers disagree with the asinine assertion that Dems would rather see Trump fail than America succeed. The dishonesty required to make that assertion is patent.

opinion noted but it is contrary to reality. The hatred Dems have for Trump is such that even America failing is a price they would readily pay to get rid of Trump

No, it's not contrary to reality. It's just you asserting it, wishing it were true, and then pretending that it is. Saying something is so doesn't magically make it so.
